    “Elegant, modern and well located.”

    This hotel is convenient for the city centre, the Alhambra and the old quarter (Albaicin) - though uphill for the latter two! If you're driving, the downside is the maze of narrow one-way streets to be negotiated to find it. On arrival, we were able to park at the front door to unload, and a member of staff then took the car to the underground garage. The cost of parking at about €19 per day came as a surprise, but was nevertheless worth paying. The refurbished part of the hotel is modern and bright, with good amenities and helpful staff. The bed was VAST, and very comfortable. A minibar (soft drinks only) and room safe are provided, but not coffee and tea facilities. A sticker in the room suggested an eye-watering price of €350 a night, but that's perhaps notional, as we paid around €70 mid-week inclusive of parking. In close proximity, you'll find a good choice of restaurants, cafes and bars to cover all tastes. Two bonuses are the El Corte Ingles department store opposite, and the spectacular sight of the snow-bedecked Sierra Nevada towering over the city at the end of the road!

    “Low, like lowwwwww 4 Star”

    Staff’s level of English: 1, That’s being generous. Yes, the hotel is located in Spain so I did try to speak my broken Spanish. Barcelo hotels are known for being international friendly. Every time I called reception, they hung up on me. My biggest complaint is that they gave me a single room after I specifically requested (in-person) that I didn’t want one. I’m a single, female traveler. Is this gender bias? Totally. The room was like a prison with a frosted glass window. It was the worst room in the hotel. Wait that probably isn’t true. The exact room below me would have to be worse. I didn’t even know it was a sunny day or night time unless I left the room. The terrace upstairs has a very small window at which it is open. Overall if you want privacy, you won’t get it here. You can hear everyone's conversation because there is nothing to absorb the sound.

    “Room temperature very warm”

    The hotel was conveniently located to sights, restaurants and shops. However, the temperature in the hotel and in our room was very warm. The air conditioning/heating system wasn’t working despite reporting it to reception. So we had to keep the window open throughout our stay. There was no tea/coffee machine, no bathrobes or slippers, which would be expected in a 4-star hotel. Nor was there a welcome drink or free mineral water in the room.

    “A lovely hotel perfectly situated ”

    A lovely stay in the hotel. The lobby is grand and smells sweet and lovely so a great welcoming environment to come into. There is a cafe next door which is brilliant and a shopping centre opposite similar to Pearson’s/John Lewis/Debenhams with lots of brands etc. There are more authentic shops around also all within walking distance. Taxis stop right outside and the bus stop is only a 10min walk away. It costs around 5-6euros to get a cab from outside to Alhambra. The room was a good size with a massive bed! The bathroom was clean and modern with no bath but a funky shower which massages you. Not much of a view and limited natural light in the room. They don’t bring you a fresh bottle of water every day which I think for a 4 star should be a standard thing. There is a mini bar and fridge in the cupboard and a safe which was free to use. A really good quality hair dryer and a nice entrance bit with a full length mirror and chair. Great views from roof top but closed early and you need your key card to go there. Staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were very helpful and gave us a map when we first got there and some were just rude and dismissive when we were asking for directions to places. They don’t speak much English and when they realise you don’t speak Spanish some get a bit rude in general we found. Breakfast is 12 euros and has lots of variety. Don’t worry if you miss it as the cafe next door is amazing. We also enjoyed the sitting area downstairs which is a nice space for a group to socialise in and have drinks etc. A nice stay. I would recommend it.

    “Out and about in Granada”

    Fabulous hotel with exceptional location brilliant staff we have stayed here a few times and would not go anywhere else so central with everything you need on the doorstep. Also the shopping is a big plus for me.
