    “Bad service”

    Poor customer service. Lobby attendants were terrible. Were not willing to accommodate handicap. They asked me to walk downstairs and across the street to get a taxi because they were not able to call one

The reason why you were recommended to take a taxi from downstairs is that the taxis sometimes take up to 20 minutes to show up. If we see that our guest in on hurry, we recommend going take a taxi from a taxi stop right downstairs, since it is a lot faster and allows to avoid long wait and complaints. However, our staff should always give you both options to choose from. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this misunderstanding has caused.     “Convenient for train, car rental but little else”

    Had initially booked a hotel around Plaza Catalunya but decided to save money and the hassle of dragging luggage and children across town by staying at a hotel above the train station we would arrive at, having had a fantastic stay at the Barcelo Malaga. Unfortunately, this seemed to be a much older property and the public areas looked like they had seen better days.

    “Long family weekend”

    Originally booked a triple room which even with a double bed in would of been quite small,upgraded to a suite which was lovely and spacious,lounge area,large spa bath with coloured lighting, huge rain shower.The hotel is above the train station,nice area of Barcelona but a bit from the "centre",lots of bars,cafes and shops close by.Would stay again if the suite was on offer, or if there was a larger double room.Very nice staff.

    “Above train station”

    Large rooms, good value for price. Neat space theme and decor. Couldn’t get safe to work. Enjoyed the bed tables and back supports for the beds. Great “rain” shower. Nice view of city. Unique furniture.

    “Quite a contrast to the Tokyo station hotel”

    Similar to our previous trip, we booked a hotel right at the train station. This was after a long 13 hour flight and another hour Travelling by train from barcelona airport. Hotel staff was indifferent to our arrival at 10am. Maybe it's just a bad time to arrive. They crowded around to chit chat at the reception counter, no sign of readiness to help us with check in. Even though they saw us carrying a tired little 21 month old toddler, they showed no sympathy on our need for a room as soon as possible. Reception was totally not welcoming. Our room was not ready so we returned an hour later for checkin but had to wait an hour for staff to complete the check in process. It was very inefficient. I have never had to wait at a reception counter an hour. At the counter, that's already discounting the wait in line. Worse so with a restless toddler. We finally got the room after noon and little toddler was elated. I suppose she liked the simplicity of the room. It felt comfortable to her. But she was really tired and we had to call twice to request for her cot. When the cot eventually came(we've already lost track of time), she was already fast asleep on the bed. We only stayed a night but in general I enjoyed the room. Least favourite part of the room was the shower, it felt a little too plastic to me. Loved the layout of the two sinks in the room. Sensitive ears maybe not be comfortable with the sound proofing but we were all so tired it didn't affect us. We also ordered room service of chicken breast and club burger. Hubby requested for hot water ( for baby of course) but was given a bottle of cold water for 6 euros! Hah. The food was tasty, both adults and baby enjoyed. Unlike most hotels, we had to pay for room service upon delivery. I've been in Spain a few times, this is a first to me. Toddler also loved the park with water feature just two minutes walk from the hotel. In another two minutes walk, you can find a dilapidated minimart if you need mineral water. It's just about an euro for 1.5l. Hah. I guess the cold one served for room service tasted better. The mercadona nearby is closed so we had to travel to the arena to get 0.2 euro water. Ended up enjoying watatsumi at the arena and the fountain show. Hubby tried to get help with renfe tickets from reception but ended up having to figure things out himself. I'm trying very hard not to blame it on discrimination. Let's just hope it isn't the case. We have another six days in Spain to find out. The hotel is pretty nice. But the service left me with a bitter taste.

The customer service you have described is not at all up to the Barceló high standards. We have investigated your case and are currently carrying out the necessary corrective measures and staff training, so this never happens again. This being said, please take a note of the fact that you were given a room before the official check in time at 2 pm for your and your baby´s comfort. We guarantee check in at after 2pm in order to be able to prepare your room properly with all the extras requested (like cots or extra beds). Since you have been given a room to able to rest earlier, the cot had to be brought in later on. Regarding the help with your tickets and any other help with other services, our front desk staff tries their best to assist our guests with anything they may need, but sometimes due to a high volume of guests, they have to prioritized other tasks. For your next visit, please contact our Guest Experience Manager for any help you may need. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. On the other hand, we are glad to see you have enjoyed the comfort of our rooms and the quality of the food served.
