Where their journey began

Wendy was born and grew up in Chicago. Her life seemed destined to unfold there, but after graduating from college, she decided to move to Mexico City. That unexpected turn marked the beginning of a period full of challenges and growth. She participated in various beauty pageants until she reached the Miss Universe stage.

Gabriel, originally from Colima, is a physical conditioning and fitness coach. Discipline and perseverance are part of his daily routine. “Wendy is a beautiful person inside and out,” Gabriel tells us. "She has a very nice personality, she's loyal, honest... she's a very beautiful person," he explains.

Wendy describes Gabriel with the same admiration: "He is a very physically strong person, but internally he has great strength and an inner fire that never goes out. And incredible sensitivity and nobility.

The couple says they felt an immediate connection from day one, and eight years later, with a daughter together, they continue to prove that their initial impulse was right.

Not only did their love grow between them, but it also multiplied with the arrival of their daughter. She became the center of his world, and on their wedding day, she played a role as special as it was symbolic: she was the one who carried the rings to the altar.

That gesture made the ceremony even more intimate and meaningful. They were not only united as a couple but as a family.

One of the most special moments of the day came just before the ceremony. Wendy was at the top of the stairs, ready to begin her journey, while Gabriel and his little girl waited for her below with the rings. “The sunset, sinking into the mountains, was spectacular,” he recalls, a moment that made the encounter intimate and emotionally charged.

For Wendy, going down those stairs was equally unforgettable. Seeing Gabriel waiting for her, her family gathered together, and her daughter being part of the moment made everything make sense. The music accompanied every step, enveloping the scene with perfect serenity before the "I do."

The perfect day by the sea

The team at Barceló Karmina, who assisted them with the organization, took care of every detail from the planning stage right through to the big day. Wendy praises the attentive, professional, and compassionate care they received. “I felt that they were with us every step of the way,” she says.

There was even a moment when that commitment was demonstrated: the bride forgot her bouquet in the room, and someone from the staff ran to fetch it and deliver it to her on time. “An incredible thing to do, because you don't want to be stressed on your wedding day,” Wendy emphasizes.

With the ocean in the background, the ceremony was "simply spectacular." Gabriel's strength, Wendy's sensitivity, and their daughter's presence created a scene that was impossible to forget.
