Guests at the Barceló Tambor hotel can visit and enjoy this service for an additional cost.This spectacular and competition golf course built in its early days by the Barceló Group, it is located in the middle of a beautiful tropical setting. The renovation of the golf course was completed by Ulrich Lang, since 1998 a Class A Superintendent and member of GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendent Association of America).


The new design introduces more drama and insight into the viewer's areas. The aim was to improve upon quality and rise to the strategic challenges presented by the golf course, at the level of environmental concerns, with a view to reducing maintenance issues when changing the bunkers. Ulrich Lang worked on replacing the drainage system for the bunkers and changed their design to turn them into typical British/European bunkers. These bunkers are respectful of the tropical climate and are better suited to handle rainfall than the previous bunkers were. Finally, the bunkers mixed with new white sand are now available to guests.


Los Delfines golf course is home to Costa Rica's largest populations of Scarlet Macaws and the only golf course in the world with 170 Red Macaws that have been released.

Almost twenty species of trees have been planted at the golf course Los Delfines It is easier for bird to find natural food and sheltered shelters for rest and nesting. The ultimate goal is to release a total of 200 birds to establish a viable biological population.
