    “Great vacation. Huge resort.”

My husband and I stayed a week in 5311, panaromic ocean front suite. I  read some bad reviews but we liked the resort.  We got premium which I think was worth it since it included Wi-Fi and I was able to make dinner reservations via email before our trip. The check in was slow. We had to wait a while and I finally had to get up and ask someone to help us. The staff in premium are nice and helpful but they do not have enough people working in there so we always had to wait when we needed something.  The first night we were actually in building 6, in the last room on the first floor.  There are shrubs so you don't get  a great ocean view. Due to recent surgery I decided day 2 this room was to far so they moved us the next day. Both rooms were huge.  Jacuzzi in the huge bathroom and a Jacuzzi on the huge balcony. We really enjoyed sitting in outside Jacuzzi at night. We never went to the nightly entertainment because it didn't start untill 10 pm. Our 2nd room on 3rd floor had a much better view since it was higher . Very nice room. 2 bathrooms  and  a separate dining room and living room with a large sectional sofa. Our safe worked fine and so did our ac. Bed was comfortable.  Housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean and our fridge stocked,  they even made designs with towels and flowers on our bed.  We tipped them daily. We only got turn down service a few times. The resort is really large but the tram is available and we never had to wait long for it. We found staff friendly and while some didn't speak much English they could understand what we wanted or they would get someone who did  speak English if needed. Resort was beautifully maintained.  Pools were clean and nice. We preferred the adult pool near our room.  I wish they had more beds for rent, we only got one once because they were sold out.  We didn't realize you could reserve them ($15) in advance.  Bartenders and bar back at adult pool very friendly. Drinks also good.  Bring your own yette cups.  They have small plastic cups that do not keep drinks cold. Again we tipped everytime we got drinks.  I rarely saw anyone else tipping! Spa pool was nice. Swim up bar was packed when we wanted to go to it. Food. Resturants we went to were good. Service was also good. We never waited long for drinks like I read in some reviews. We went to hoya 19, Santa fe steakhouse twice, la vita dulce,  coral seafood , Mexico lindo and Kyoto.  My husband wore pants but we saw several  men in shorts at all the restaurants except Kyoto.  They turned the man away infront of us because he was wearing shorts.  I also wore flip flops to all the resturants. Kyoto and Mexico lindo were our favorites. The buffets are ok. I'm not a fan of buffets anywhere.  I saw one man drop a pair of tongs on the floor and he picked them up and put them back. I saw kids touching food.  Gross.  I didn't see lots of flies all over like some reviews say. Some food was cold and some just was not good but I always found something to eat. Strikers food is not very good. Same as buffet food.  We only ordered room service once for breakfast and it was good. We booked with apple vacation and the AM star rep on property (Henry) was wonderful.  He booked our excursions and let us know he was there for anything we needed. He did book us on a shopping trip that I didn't like. We were told stores were cheaper and it was safer to use our credit card there rather than the store at Barcelo . They took us to a compound where there's rum tasting,  chocolate tasting and you watch them make cigars.  It feels like they are herding you around. I was not intrested in that so we skipped most of it. We wanted to buy some souvineers.  We then had to wait a while for shuttle back to the resort. Even though we were told our driver would be there waiting and we could go back whenever we wanted if we didn't want to stay for the 2 hrs.  It turns out the souvineer shop at the resort had the same stuff for the same price or even cheaper. I wish we had skipped this,  we would have saved money and been right back to the beach. Yes sunscreen is overpriced  $23 at the resort. We never had any problems here with mosquitos or bugs. The beach was beautiful.  We saw them cleaning up seaweed one morning.  People do save spots but we never had trouble finding a place.  They had lots of water activities. They brought around a monkey , iguana and macaws if you want your picture taken with them. Casino is small and just ok. My husband did win some money. We had a great time and would come back.  I wish they had drink service at the beach though. It also would have been nice at check in to  tell us hours for buffets,  pools and that hoya 19 has breakfast and lunch.  Instead they handed us a map. As big as this place is they should have maybe showed us where things were on the map and explained some things. They also didn't tell us we had access to spa pool, I only knew that from reading reviews. Also they really need more staff in the premium area. There were only 2 at a time at the desk. Nowhere near enough considering the size of this place. We were lucky enough to see a double rainbow one afternoon. It was beautiful. It only rained twice for maybe 10 mins even though the forecast showed rain almost everyday. Ignore the bad reviews and book your trip!

“2nd trip to Barcelo Bavaro Palace!”

This was our 2nd time visiting the hotel. Click on my name to see my first review and click on Google Translate to read it :) We continued loving the place and we are planning to have this be our destination for all our beach vacations with children for the next several years. Everything was great: the beach is gorgeous, our ocean view 2-rooms suite was beautiful, food in the buffets is always good, the staff is friendly. A few ideas to improve: 1. The gym is good, but since everyone is so into a healthy lifestyle, the equipment provided is not enough to accommodate everyone. You only have one of each set of dumbbells. I would suggest providing more sets of dumbbells and more kettle bells of different weights. Also, treadmills are in need of lubrication. Badly. A few were making a loud creaking noise. 2. Nightly entertainment for kids - dancing was fine, but karaoke was not good. There were a few songs (ex. Shape of You by Sheeran, Havana, etc.) that were quite inappropriate for the age group. Plus kids of 4-8 aren't readers yet or not very strong ones. Songs from Frozen or Twinkle, Twinkle are much better. Please add KIDS songs to your kids karaoke program. 3. The beach - during our week stay my family found 8 pieces of glass! on the beach!!! And that doesn't have to do much with the hotel. Springbreakers or parents of springbreakers, PLEASE be a bit more responsible in your actions. This is a family hotel, so please party somewhere other than the beach, so no one gets badly injured. Thanks. Overall, a great stay and we are looking forward coming back next winter.

“Overall one of the best experiences I had”

This was my fist time in the Dominican Republic and I can't honestly say anything bad. It was a bit loud but I expected it as we're a young couple. We had the time of our lives. This place is REAL all included meaning you can get all the drinks and food you want until your heart (or stomach) is content. The most important thing, the service, was great. People were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. My only complaint would be the Sea Food restaurant. All the others were phenomenal, but I wouldn't recommend Coral that much as I asked for a rare tuna and they brought it well done, and the octopus was not very well grilled. That being said, that was my only issue but for me it didn't alter the overall experience which was amazing. My partner and I will definitely come back.

    “Honeymoon stay”

We had our honey moon at this hotel. A lovely hotel with stunning views of the sea. Staff are very friendly and will do anything to help. Food in the main resturaunts are very good. The main buffet resturaunts can be ok. Some meats can be under cooked at times. But overall is fine, with plenty of choice. Rooms are very clean and kept this way. Beach is excellent with loads of activities to do. Pool is also very good. But have to be there before 11 am to guarntee a bed. Overall we had a enjoyable holiday. Just a bit of a pain to keep having to fill out forms everyday to book dinner reservations.
