    “Not what i expected”

Punta Cana to much hype, not happy with the good and most of the staff didn't understand English and gave me the wrong information. The shops tried to charge more in US dollars as if ppl can't add. Don't plan on a return, and I travel out of the US twice a year.

    “Memorable family vacation”

We loved our weeklong stay at the Barcelo. We brought our three kids ages 5, 3 and 7-months and the resort really accommodated families. The kids pools were amazing, the family suites were perfect with the second room and the staff was so welcoming and positive. My husband even snuck away for an afternoon for a round of golf! I would give the Barcelo 5 stars if they brought us drinks on the beach!

    “Excellent hotel”

Located direct on Bavaro beach. Large rooms, with jacuzzi on the balcony and all the needed amenities. Excellent food, 24/day, excellent service. 7 days were not enough to see the entire resort. Very nice pool, with pool bar. On the beach is windy almost all the time. Shortly, a kind of Paradise. Recommended.

    “Sun, Sand, and Water”

My husband and I visited from 2/5 through 2/10. Pros The property itself is gorgeous, meticulously maintained and the amenities were also quite nice. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Just to name a few: Mexican, Japanese, French, Spanish, seafood, steakhouse, in addition to the buffet, and a sports bar with food 24/7 (we watched the superbowl here and it was a BLAST...they really made an effort to make it fun!!!). It's relatively easy to get a reservation and the food was pretty good, no complaints (we went to the steakhouse, Japanese, seafood, and French). They give you water bottles every where so it's easy to stay hydrated. There is a place where you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, catamaran, paddle boats, wind surfing, etc free of charge. You just have to sign up a day in advance to get some of the more in demand items. And for a fee you can go scuba diving or other excursions that you can book at the resort (nothing was terribly expensive). There is also an activity center with stretching on the beach, board games, ping pong, shuffle board, bocce ball, as well as other assorted activities dance lessons etc. In addition there is a beautiful gym with many classes offered each day (yoga, Pilates, spinning, etc). There are two rather large pools as well as a kids pool. My one complaint here is that the water was quite cold which made the swim up bar less pleasant than it otherwise might have been but can't be perfect I guess! Towels can be swapped out at any time which is a nice touch. The Spa was wonderful. Pricey for a massage inside the spa but there is a cheaper massage option on the beach. Plenty of beach chairs on a long stretch of the beach. Cons Pretty much the one not so awesome aspect of the vacation was the room. The room we were in was okay, kinda musty. The bedding was old but otherwise comfortable. Be prepared for the fact there is only a glass door for the bathroom, privacy is NOT plentiful. But on the upside, every room has a hot tube on the patio/balcony. I very much enjoyed my bubble bath outside :) Oh you also have to pay extra for internet and it only works well when you are close to the main building. That is a minor thing though, you are on vacation...why in the world should you be on the internet (yes, I wanted to work and the lack of internet stopped me from doing so! Thank god!) Overall, definitely give it a go...I don't think you will be disappointed. My husband says it's one the best all inclusive resorts he has stayed at in the Caribbean (to put that in perspective he is an airline pilot and has been practically everywhere). For those of you complaining about the employees not speaking English fluently...seriously?!? If you want everyone to speak English to you then maybe you might consider the US, England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand for all future vacations.

    “Relaxing recharge in paradise”

It's big, and accommodated lots of people, which had a surprisingly positive side. This was due to excellent service, superb facilities including many pools, wonderful food at the many restaurants, large comfortable rooms, and beautiful landscaping.
