    “A Good Time”

We traveled with friends on this trip - ages 25-30. We wanted to go somewhere to reconnect and have a good time, a place where we could drink at a pool and relax on the beach. This resort provided to our needs. There are some things to know prior to booking your trip: The room - we stayed in the 7000 building. This section of the hotel has not been renovated yet and is very outdated. Our friends stayed in the same building and two rooms had leaking. The beds were uncomfortable and our toilet did not always flush. The "mini bar" was only stocked the first day we were there with 2 beers. Water was stocked daily. We did not always have a towel after the maids left. It was a place to sleep, which is all we did in the room, so it was fine for us. VERY noisy at night. The food - not good. Buffets were tasteless. I stuck to eggs and toast every morning and did not want to venture further than that. The restaurants were not good either. Italian was bland and small portions, mexican was not mexican. we were given "margaritas" that were made with rum, I could not stomach drinking it. The best we had was the hibachi restaurant. My husband got sushi and we think it made him sick, so stick to cooked food! The pizza place was just weird. One of the waiters sat with us the whole time and made it awkward. The pizza was good though. There was a snack shack type thing next to one of the pools that served fries, burgers and hot dogs. It was a good snack for when you were hungry for lunch but didn't want to get out of pool gear. The pool - there were two pools, we only ever went to the one with the pool bar. The pool was large, a lot of chairs, always busy and active and the bartenders were very attentive. We enjoyed the pool. The grounds - always clean. The resort outside was beautiful. Every morning we saw people cleaning it up and attending to the hedges. The beach - HUGE. The beach was awesome. Very large, TONS of chairs, sunny in places and shaded as well. The entertainment - Very busy resort, tons to do. We were not too impressed with the shows, HOWEVER, the Michael Jackson show is REALLY good! Excursions - We went on two. We went to the waterfall (not worth it). We also went on a booze cruise, it was great. Other notes - a lot of kids, if you don't want to be around kids, don't go. The staff has a range of all personalities. You will have hit and miss customer service so just be prepared, we were. We heard from other guests a lot of the same things, rooms leaking, no towels, uncomfortable beds, no re-stocking of mini bar. BUT - overall, we had a good time. If you are going to have fun, this place is fun. If you are going to be catered to, probably consider other resorts.

“Highly recommend!! Wonderful family vacation! ”

We just got home from staying at the Occidental Caribe for a week. We loved the resort and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and the air conditioning kept the room nice and cool which was great after being outside all day! We paid extra for the ocean view and that was worth it for us to be able to sit on the balcony while our daughter took her daily nap. They have an option for a "Premium lounge" and we upgraded to that. I HIGHLY recommend it! The lounge is very nice and the staff in there are so nice! The bartender in the premium lounge, Starlyn Rosario, was so kind to our family. On our last night, he got our two year old daughter a gift of a teddy bear and some candy. That was such a sweet, kind thing for him to do for us! Also, with the "premium" upgrade, they have a continental breakfast just for the premium guests in the lounge. That was great because there were only a few other couples in there each morning. You also get better drinks, bottled water, your own concierge, spa discount and more! All the restaurants had good food. Slow service in the Dominican restaurant, but could have been the night. The rest of the restaurants were fast and yummy! Pools were great, beach is beautiful, shows were great! Great place for a family too! The kids water park was very fun for kids! They also have a kids show each night which our daughter had a blast doing! They were interactive shows for the kids, so they all were on stage dancing and doing games. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be going back again next year!!

    “Amazing beach BUT”

We just got back from this resort and sadly we will not be returning. Although we loved the beach the resort really had nothing more to offer. We upgraded to premium and it was a waste of money. The rooms are old and outdated, and our pillows smelled so badly of mould we could not sleep with them. Our bathroom had a leak in the ceiling and our safe would die every other day. The service was so so, and was rarely offered with a smile. The language barrier was huge as many of the workers do not speak English. There is no service on the beach or by the pool, so you will have to go and get your own drinks. The resort had zero identified gluten free options, and they could barely understand what I was trying to tell them. I have been to other resorts that do offer gluten free options, so this was frustrating. The casino is small and many other people ended up going to the Hard Rock Casino instead. We left as tip every time for housekeeping, and we would still have to call for new towels, or other items that were suppose to be in the room. We also booked through Transat, and we loved the inflight entertainment but again they had ZERO gluten free options on the plane. (Sunwing does) The spa is overpriced as well. If you are going with a family the kids zone looked to be great, however as a couple I would not recommend this resort.

    “Family friendly fun”

Found the staff to be excellent, especially Martina Mota. Such a warm and friendly person there to greet us each day. The beach is gorgeous, the pools and outdoor areas had plenty of chairs and umbrellas for everyone. Great music and spaces. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. Highly recommend it!

    “Award Winning”

Here is a positive review. Don't know if there are any particular awards out there for the different aspects of resorts, but you guys could walk away with a lot of trophies. You can all be proud. Keep up the great work. Noah/Toronto
