    “Horrible Customer Service”

    At buffet for breakfast they were not prepared and was told to ask the chief for ham and cheese for the omelet then the chief and cook started to argue in front of us madness Experience I encountered. Let start with the first night I checked in our Family Suite was hot no AC muggy black dust ball came out of the vent our 9yr was room we had to put him on nebulizer machine. We asked to up us on higher floor were not move to same floor at 11:30 pm still very damp in room housekeeping came with fresh towels 2x in 7 days. My mother-in law room was booked for 2 doubles she received 1 bed for 3 people had to go down again have room changed next room the sheets were dirty Then the next room celling had water coming down from the toilet above the fridge was leaking this room was my grooms men wife and daughter this happen at 1 am when we went down to the front desk they said “ what you want us to do” We responded what you mean we need to change room and said there wasn’t any rooms were it got escalated when my friend got upset that his family could not stay in the room security came asked were we are from we responded “What does it matter where were from” While this happening I have tired 8yr old upset having to wake up at 630am for a dolphin excursion more money we dumped to the hotel. Next we were told by guest service that we need make reservation every day between 7am-10am no call in person fine we went down at 720 am “supposedly the restaurants were booked” come on really we then got GM she booked us whatever restaurant she wanted which was surf and turf we went to dinner by the time to order steak was gone only chicken was our choice “really”. Sat down with wedding planner was told since we didn’t get center piece we can replace with a corsage and boutonniere guess what we were charged for them at check out. Only thing was great was the pool and beach NOT the pool with bar NASTY

    “Amazing Family Vacation for our son's 21st Birthday!”

    Don't let the bad reviews worry you! Wonderful resort with something for everyone. We spent 6 nights here (ages 55, 53, and almost 21)! Pros: Our Premium Club Suite (Room 3248 - Bldg 3, 2nd floor) had 2 spacious rooms (living and bed room) and 2 full bathrooms. The living room couch was super wide (about the size of a twin bed) so my son ended up sleeping there for his own room with his own flat screen TV. The beds were extremely comfortable, but only full-size, so it was good that my husband and I could have our own bed, since we're used to King size at home. We all slept great! Conveniently located with easy access to everything yet quiet when sleeping. We only had a peek-a-boo ocean view, but it was fun people-watching at the party pool from our balcony and could still hear the ocean waves early morning and late night. We are fairly picky eaters, so I was thankful we did the premium club, so I could enjoy peanut butter toast, yogurt, and coffee in the quiet lounge each morning. We ate at the buffet for 1 breakfast - it was okay with lots of choices, 1 lunch at the buffet but usually just ate lunch at the Pizza place (our favorite), Mexican al-a-carte (good wraps) or the pool grill - great french fries! We ate at the al-a-carte dinner places (Seafood, Japanese, Italian, French, and Dominican) and enjoyed them all, with Japanese and Italian being the favorites. Highly recommend taking large cups from home for convenience for drinks. We had top-shelf liquor from the Premium Club lounge, but also did vodka and canadian club from the other bars. The casino is small but we played Roulette, Black Jack, Poker, and slots and it was a great little place to introduce our son to gambling. Thankfully, he only won a few bucks before losing his money, so he doesn't care for gambling much, which is probably a good thing. The staff was always pleasant, smiling, and attentive. There was definitely a language barrier, but I had brought an English to Spanish book and tried to learn a few good phrases while there. Most of the guests are non-English speaking as well. We only met half dozen people from US, England, and Canada. Everyone else spoke other languages. We are in their country, so I feel it's our responsibility to communicate in their language if possible. Our son speaks a little Spanish, so he had a few conversations with people. They stopped by our room every evening to see if we needed our beach towels swapped out for fresh ones. We packed 1 towel for each of us just in case based on other reviews we had read, but never needed to get them out. There were no towels when we arrived, but we called and they brought them up sometime while we were out checking out the grounds. We hung up our bath towels and they only took them if they left fresh ones. Personally, I don't find it necessary to have new towels every single day - I use mine at home for 3-4 days - no need to be wasteful! The Beach is AMAZING. Lots of chairs with a wide beach for sun time and shade under the palm trees. There are so many chairs that it looks like a crowded place, but we never had to share space. Played our own music on our speaker with no fear of interfering with anyone else's quiet area. Love, Love, Love the beach. Spent one afternoon watching the pool partiers - water is super warm in the pools. Not much of a fan of swim-up bar pools and drunks, but the music and entertainment there was good for people watching! Cons: Yes, there were 3 bad things, but nothing to give it a lower rating. 1) With unlimited free drinks, you will most likely encounter a couple obnoxious drunks. One guy dove into the shallow pool and knocked himself unconscious and had to be pulled out by staff and other drunks. All thought he had actually paralyzed himself, but thankfully he was able to stagger away with help; 2) We sat on the beach late one night and someone ran up the beach and stole a purse off of some woman's arm and kept running. They never caught him; and 3) Some people (we think all were tourists) were purchasing/selling marijuana (again late night near the beach bar) and the security and police swarmed in and dragged them to the ground, hand cuffed them and drug them away! So, if you're a smoker, Punta Cana is not the place for you. Personally, it doesn't bother me and felt the bust was a bit excessive, but it's illegal and they don't turn their head like they do in Jamaica!

    “HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!”

    Where do I begin!!! When I called the resort to book we told the lady we wanted 2 beds with an OCEAN VIEW. We checked in may 19 2017 the whole check in process took over 2 hours which is crazy! Once we got our room(also they have a renovated side and non renovated side). No ocean view.They only post pics of the renovated side. we go upstairs and the door is wide open and STILL dirty and with only one bed when we booked we said it was mandatory for 2 beds. Also put on the non renovated side. so I called down since the wait was so long and I was told "call your agent". Funny thing is we called and booked with the hotel! There was no agent. So we were put in a second room with two beds still the non renovated side. The bathroom with dirty and stains in the toilet. We are put in a third room which was actually renovated but the front desk said it would be better if we paid cash for the upgrade which we thought was a scam so we paid with a card but they couldn't get us a receipt for an hour. The door in the third room looked like it was kicked in at some point and wouldn't latch. Food was disgusting alcohol was even worse. Rude bartenders out at the pool. We are still waiting for the rep to call us back on our refund since we left within 4 hours and went to a different resort called breathless resort and spa which was AMAZING! You guys should be embarrassed and we will be calling the better business bureau because I can't even get someone to contact me to process the refund.

    “Another great stay at Barcelo Punta Cana (now Occidental Caribe)”

    The best part of this hotel is the customer service. The bartenders and waiters/waitresses really went above and beyond to make us feel special. They were so nice and friendly and helpful. I've been to so many other resorts where the service is awful, and it really sets a bad tone for your vacation. Not this place. Everyone - front desk, buffet staff, a la carte restaurant staff, bar staff, kids club, pizzeria - treated us with kindness and respect. A special thanks to Jose Miguel from the pizzeria restaurant. His service was top notch and he was willing to do anything to make our meals pleasant. Our two kids loved the food and service so much that we ended up eating lunch there every day. Clarissa from the Mexican restaurant and Jenni from the Italian and Dominican restaurants were also AMAZING. So good to us and our kids - they made sure our picky kids had something they could eat every single night. Our vacation would have been so much more stressful without Clarissa and Jenni looking our for our kids. Jennifer Castillo at the front desk continues to do an amazing job. She is the perfect person to represent the hotel - her attention to detail and customer service makes a HUGE difference. Lastly, the two young ladies at the Kids Club were great. I'm sorry to have forgotten their names, but our kids loved them and begged to go there every day. The girls were honest and trustworthy, which made us feel good about dropping the kids off there to enjoy some quiet time. We loved it so much that we will be back in August 2017!!!

    My best vacation I was the first time and I'm gonna come up all late and also the anti-Caribbean is the mason hotel the personal loss very good people there wrong that's clean and bake bake one before this good the entertainment that's a mason all Tyanne with Activity all the time in a pool party phone party Beachbody Showtime on the theater with the Michael Jackson was the best I said the guys for the entertainers Mr. Alexander Anna Mr. Brother for the entertainment Mr. Robert waooooo is amazing on the theater is the best entertainment are there I'll sit into Caribbean is in my best vacation I come back
