    “Great Vacation”

It is taking me a quite some time to review this property. Please note we stayed at Occidental approx. 11 months ago. I will do my best to detail the most important parts every vacationer (family) is looking for in an All Inclusive stay. Reception-extremely friendly and efficient, customer service throughout the property is excellent. As a visitor to Mexico we all have to remember that yes we have paid for our vacations, and yes we did work hard for that one week of rest and piece, but honestly you have to be respectful towards employees/people at any resort to get respect back. Rooms and property around- our room was very clean and the whole place was clean all around the clock. One thing tho, if for whatever reason you are not satisfied with a room my suggestion is speak your mind, ask for a change, don't stay quite. It is quite unfortunate if you are not getting what you have paid for but it is not a property that sold you paradise you are not getting but rather travel agent. Hammocks on the balcony were such an amazing detail and we have had a fun on that balcony, so relaxing and pleasant. Food- now this is where I am going to go "dark" on my review. A' la carte is very nice and clean. It is done in glass so you have a gorgeous view of ocean. There is a patio part so you can decide to eat outside. Food I found not to be so good. It was "blah". No better in La Trattoria, my daughter and I had fun and a good laugh when my stake and her pasta arrived. It just wasn't good. The restaurant on its own, good vibe and clean. Beach- we are beach people. So to put it mildly, beach was not bad (it was clean) but the ocean water was dirty (as a side note) marina is very close by...so do not expect paradise. You are not getting it, not on this beach. However if you hope on a bus it will take you done to entertainment area of Cancun and in between Coco Bango and Mandala there is I believe the best beach in the World. If you are in Cancun you have to spend at least a day there. Very colorful (many locals and tourist), Federale Policia is right there on a beach, security seems tight (even tho a public beach). Ocean is just gorgeous, water warm and clan, just be careful current can be quite ruff. After a day at the beach you can stroll down and catch a bus back to the hotel or you can just stop and eat at one of local restaurants. My recommendation is "Tacos Caminero" and right across is "Tacos Factory". Right there on a beach is the Hard Rock cafe, but Hard Rock (crazy expansive, with unfriendly waiter, paid $25US for pop, 2 coffees, and 2 mineral waters) to me that is crazy. Anyway, We have had an amazing time at Mandala beach. Further down there is another beach "Delfines", as well gorgeous. Pool: clean and cold water. I am not sure if they have heated pools but this one was freaking cold (for my standards). There are plenty of chairs to relax in. Entertainment: "Nah" really wasn't that entertaining. But to be fair, once you seen two shows at any all inclusive resort, you've seen them all. Please stop with Michel Jackson show, enough is enough. As well, we were there at the end of Nov/Dec 2016 so not a high season, maybe that was the reason for entertainment to feel like a nursing home. Once again if you take a bus to entertainment area of Cancun then you are in for some treat. Recommendation for families; do not go to entertainment area after midnight, or even better yet after 10pm. When we decided to go and just walk around there was a shooting at Mandala Club, guy shoot a guy in the head, not a big deal for Americans and locals but for Canadians and Europeans not much fun. Needless to say, club was shot down for the rest of our stay and no tourist was in danger. Near by: there are some local variety stores, Star Bucks, church (if interested in some praying) etc just across the street. You can go for a nice walk up and down the street, very secure but don't get surprise if people try selling weed, pretty normal. Excursions:each and every time we go for vacation we say, no money spending and no excursions...well guess what? We spend extra and booked excursions, (2). Travelers 3, two adults and a 15 year old, booked Xplore and a Women Island snorkeling tour. Been on a couple of snorkeling tours already so was really not impress at all with this one, XPlore on the other hand I highly recommend. We did at night, so water in caves and zip lining can be quite cold, I think day time would be way better. The whole park is amazing and happy place. Very secure, fun, food amazing...all around the best $300+ USD we have ever spend. For the end, we have had amazing vacation and I hope you will to. Cheers

“Booked for the price but not good enough for a 2nd shot”

The husband and I️ needed a quick vacation in the sun, and unfortunately the resort we stayed at last time was booked. We figured we would try something new that also didn’t break the bank since it was a last minute trip; hence, our selection of this hotel. Overall rating is 2.5 because the negatives outweighed the pluses! Pluses: - Not on the crowded strip but still close to all of the action. - Clean! I️ can’t rave about that for every resort I️ have stayed. - Courteous staff! - Pool area was fun, and really liked Brandon of the entertainment crew. Negatives: - Food wasn’t appetizing, or even visually appealing. Even the exclusive restaurants on sight were yuck. Definitely made this trip difficult to truly enjoy. - Beach area was tiny & we weren’t used to not having turquoise waters - they charged us for WiFi! Why?!!!! In 2017, WiFi should be a given. Even though they charged us, it was still limited to one device per code. We couldn’t even have one code for our room. The worst! It’s cool if you are on a tight budget but times aren’t that hard for us, so doubt we will return to this resort on our next trip to Cancun.

Dear Tynika Y: We truly feel that your experience at our resort has not met your expectations. However, we thank you for pointing out to us those areas in which we must continue to improve. Those kind of comments are what help us to stay ahead, presenting you with new proposals. On the food we carefully review the dishes that are served both in the theme restaurants and in the buffet to offer the maximum variety and quality to our customers. We also try to offer the best quality in terms of drinks. We regret that the drinks and food did not live up to their expectations. We would have liked to hear from you during your stay to do something about it and feel more comfortable. Likewise, we will channel your comments with the corresponding departments to solve the inconveniences that mentions us. We reiterate once again our sincere apologies for the inconvenience we cause and hope that we will be given the opportunity to receive it again and change your perception of our service. Best regards, Noemi Ramirez. Assistant Manager.
