    “Not as good as past stays”

    My wife and I have been vacationing at Allegro Playacar for several years. In the past there have been issues with the A/C, Toilets, Showers and a very hard bed, but we lived with it and continued to enjoy our vacation. We were so excited to return this year after reading about all the renovations. Let me add that we are also First Club Members. Upon our arrival, we were placed in a very nice room that faced an ocean view. We were very happy with this. We noticed that the interior of the room appeared to be the same as any other room we had stayed in previously. Upon speaking with other first club members we were informed that they had been advised that the first club rooms had not been renovated but the regular guest rooms had. We also had read that there was a gym which was not true. We noticed that the covered huts on the beach had been removed which provided shade for people who loved just relaxing on the beach. When we went to dinner for the first time we saw that the buffet area had been remodeled. It looked nice but that was it. As for the food, we had never complained about it and in the past found that it was for the most part good. However, this time, we found that the food was far below even being average. We ended up going to town and eating dinners. The lunch was pretty good. Breakfast was also okay. As for the staff, again they are all just totally awesome. The entire First Club Staff are like family and we just love them. The buffet staff again was so great. They are also like family. We also met an employee named German. He and I got off to a rocky start, which was my fault. We ended up having some great conversations and he was a wealth of information. German, in my opinion is a very great asset for the resort. Again, and no fault of the resort, we as many other people had to endure very rude people who feel it is okay continue to party at 3am, This happened several times during our two week stay. I know that it seems that I have given this resort a bad rap and I apologize for that, but as I said previously, we have stayed at this resort for years and this was really a disappointment for us this year. Will we return, you bet. I really hope that others also address the pros and cons. If you want to meet some really great people and have a great beach to relax and play on, this is a place to go. In closing, please do something about the food and also remember we as first club members should come first.

    “Relaxing holiday”

    Great hotel, great staff, buffet can be repetitive and the reservations system is frustrating if there are more than two of you, bars quiet in the evenings, not much of an atmosphere which is a shame. Would recommend, great location right on the beach and a 15 min walk to playa del carmen.

    “So much fun”

    I'm not usually the type to stay at an all inclusive, but my little horrible hostelito stay that led to a last minute Hotwire booking; led me to Allegro Playacar. The room was clean, costumer service was good too, but the best was the poolside entertainment. Again, I thought, knowing me, that I would "think this is cheesy"; but I found myself getting into the guessing games, and loving watching the dancers rev up the crowd and the DJ was hilarious. The beach is amazing, food mediocre, bloody Mary's amazing (they don't use Clamato like some other places). But if anything-go for the the entertainment!

    “A truly amazing and memorable stay”

    Stayed 8/5-15/5/17- First of all let me say, if you are like me and spend lots of time reading reviews before deciding on where to stay, let me put your mind at rest. I was slightly worried by some negative reviews which lowered my expectations but upon arriving at this resort I was blown away by the magnificent grounds and fabulous beach front location. I was in a group of 5 women, first visit for all of us to Mexico, do not let a few negative reviews put you off coming to this place. The rooms are all located in beach style villas, with ground floor and first floor rooms, 4 on ground and 4 on upper floor, we were in block 21, upper room. The villas are all dotted around the complex, the higher the number, the closer it is to the pool and beach so we were in the middle, good location as much quieter than rooms near reception and entertainment shows. Yes the roof is thatched and we were greeted by some very noisy birds early each morning, so if this bothers you, ask for a ground floor room. I can honestly say this did not affect our overall enjoyment and experience. The rooms are a bit basic but clean, very good walk in shower. The overall look and feel of having an individual villa with own balcony space with hammock far outweighs being in a large hotel block. The grounds are kept immaculately clean, I don't know how they do it considering the amount of people on the resort. There are 2 pools both superb. The activity pool has a swim up pool bar, and has amazing views right in front of the beach. We never had a problem getting sun beds although not sure if this would be the case if you went in August, however there are plenty of sun beds on the beach too. Let me say a huge thank you to Mia Amigos, in the pro dive centre espescialy Lionel for giving me the encouragement to try scuba diving lesson in the pool and parasailing for the first time, the staff are very courteous and true professionals. The resort has an amazing activity programme running throughout the day, Zumba, aqua aerobics, volleyball, quizzes, foam party in the pool one afternoon! this is run by the awesome animation team- A special thank you to Alejandro, Mario, Fernando, Aldo, Armando, Roberto and the very talented Zumba instructor Samba, espescialy to Alejandro who somehow remembers your name. The all inclusive food and drinks are a good standard, there is plenty of choice to suit all tastes. A special thanks to all the waiting staff who work extremely hard to make you feel special with a lot of personal table service, please acknowledge them with a well deserved tip. A special mention to some of the waiting staff- Humberto, Fidel, Moises, Luis and Ricardo the fantastic omelette man who deserves a medal. The manager Francisco made an effort to come and speak to us, which further encompasses the personal touch. Overall the staff are very friendly and welcoming, I wish I could say the same about the reception staff who were very direct, bordering on rude apart from one friendly lady Miriam who had a smile on her face no matter what pressures she was facing. My friends and I had a superb time at this resort and would definitely return.

    “Excellent Stay At Allegro”

    Highly recommend for groups that are wanting to be able to stay closer together and hang out throughout the week. It was easy to meet up and lots of quiet places to chill and swim. Very clean and food was decent. Easy walk into 5th Ave and lots to do!
