    “40th anniversary family trip”

Our family was aged from 67 down to 7. We were a family of 19 including our children and grand kids. This was a perfect choice for our family. The premium Jr oceanfront suites in Uxmal bldg. were so handy. Close to beach and pool. Bring your thermal cups and bar men will make your drinks in them. Preferred the Colonial buffet for dinner due to the better ambiance. Really enjoyed the restaurant La Fuentes for Spanish cuisine and Tokyo for tepanyaki. Make reservations when you check in. Plenty of pool and beach lounge chairs but get your towels early as they can't keep up with the demand.

    “Mixed bag”

This place is a mixed bag. The only good is the beach. The very term "All-Inclusive" is misleading, it should be labelled "Some Basics-Inclusive". Food is mediocre and boring. Only very basic drinks are included. At the end I surprisingly found that my favorite dish was just an omelet and not because it was especially delicious but because everything else was worse. Even Wi-Fi and a simple waterpark are extra and all extra prices are unreasonably high. Service is spotty. We stayed a week with our two grandchildren and on the 4-th day started to think that it would be better if we made a shorter reservation. With all the above the beach compensated for all other stuff, but I do not think that we ever visit this place again.

    “Best experience I've ever had!!!!”

First off I want to start off by saying out of all the times I've been to Mexico this resort was the best. Everything was professional. The staff were amazing big shout out to the beach activity staff (Jonathan larissa erick Sergio jazmin) these guys were the best and made every day an amazing one, if you like sports bars then you need to check out a bar at the resort named strikers the bar tenders there are amazing (Saul Ceba and Josè Teh) best bar tenders I ever met. Extremely satisfied with the resort and the staff!

“Couldve rated 5 stars, but cant because of the buffets”

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 5 day stay at Barceló. Prior to our trip I had read through several reviews of this resort, and noticed a common complaint- check in, restaurant booking & food... so I really had my expectations low on these. I figured I would write a more detailed review since I relied so much on them for our trip. Resort/Beach: Absolutely beautiful-- the resort is huge yet it is so clean, im not sure how they keep it so tidy day in and day out. Like I said, it is large! so there is some walking, but really the only major walking we did was to go to the Palace/French to eat, and that was about a 25minute walk. We enjoy walking (burns off some of the calories from buffets and cervezas!) so it really didn't bother us whatosver. The pool is about a 5ish minute walk from the room and the beach is right behind it. they also provide a double decker bus to get around if need be. I would definitely recommend doing the jet ski's, it is so beautiful to ride around the clear blue waters and see the resort from a far- our top memory of the trip! If youre looking for a fun pool atmosphere I would suggest the pool near the colonial/tropical, this seems to be a little more "party" area with loud music and a pool bar with EXCELLENT service (a few dollars go a long ways to the bartenders they will take care of you!) CHECK-IN: I think it really just depends on when you arrive during the day for how your check in process will go. We arrived at about 11am (hour direct trip from airport to resort), and we walked right up to check in. ROOM: we had reserved a king bed and received 2 doubles which was frustrating-- we ended up requesting a room change which was accepted for the next day- still a pain to unpack and pack again but worth it in the end. Our first room had great working air conditioning and the room was not humid--- once we moved next door to the king room--- there seemed to not be any air moving in the room even when we cranked it down to the lowest setting. Thankfully the ceiling fan had a very fast setting so that moved the air around quite well, but still, it does not help when it doesn't have any COLD air to move! Buffets: GROSS. The food options here are no bueno--- nothing seems appetizing at all! I would have to blame my stomach issues during the beginning of this trip on the buffets. I am very paranoid on what I eat in Mexico so I play it safe- yet I still had problems. It really ruined about a day and a half of my trip, and once I finally started feeling back to normal, my boyfriend started experiencing the same "off" feeling I had for the 3rd day of our trip. It was really a bummer that we only felt healthy one day together on the trip...our diet quickly became fries, fruit, and grilled sandwiches, that was it. Because of these buffets- I would not come back to this resort. Restaurants: based on other reviews I read, we got pretty lucky to get the reservations at the places we asked for.. I would advise doing this right after you check in! ALSO keep your confirmation receipts as a 'just in case' to hand to the hostess when you arrive... we stayed 4 nights so we were able to book 2 reservations but we purchased a 3rd for $20 per person so we would not have to eat more than one night at the buffet's (yuck). I heard many people were not able to get the reservations they requested- I thought this was strange because you will notice these restaurants are never booked up like Guest Services makes it seem to be- unless that many people are missing their dinner reservations--- im not sure. French- this is at the Palace, so anyone who is not staying there must pay the $20/ea. but let me tell you- it is WORTH IT! the food is amazing and the service is fantastic as well. I am so bummed I cannot remember our waiters name because he had the best personality. Kyoto- this was a hibachi type restaurant which ended up to be quite good! Our cook was very entertaining. I ordered the mahi mahi and my boyfriend ordered the red snapper- both delicious. La Trottoria - Italian- this was quite disappointing... the pasta was not cooked through all the way so it was very difficult to eat, ended up only having one bite. We also ordered the chicken breast wrapped in bacon with a white sauce. Mine was very tasty BUT my boyfriends was not cooked through all the way. Very pink on the inside and even one end was completely raw... thankfully we caught this before he took a bite or the trip would've been ruined quickly. We did send this back, and the waiters quickly brought a new plate- although he had lost his appetite by then. Entertainment- we are mid twenties so the nightly shows in the theater did not really appeal to us. We mostly hung out at the Maya mall casino and Maya bar, which had a great atmosphere. We considered going off resort but with us both not feeling the greatest we decided to stay. The daily activities were great! We loved participating in the beach volleyball, dance lessons at the pool, soccer (Jonithan was part of the staff during this soccer game and he was so friendly and welcoming) OVERALL: would I recommend this resort? unfortunately, probably not because of the buffets... but if you can look past the poor food, then you will enjoy every bit of your trip regardless!

“6th time and wonderful as always!”

This time we were in the Beach hotel, which we love! Ocean front club premium was what we have always purchased and did again this time. Room was fabulous! We did order room service one evening and it was prompt and good. Pools-always fantastic! The Caribe pool had music which drew a younger crowd. We opted to stay at the Beach pool and it was lovely. Bartenders are a bit slower there...but it works. We did try out the adult pool (between beach hotels) Jesus was fabulous! The pool is smaller, but quiet-so that is nice! Ala carte restaurants were all fabulous except for Spanish-the manager did take note and spoke with us. This year we ventured across the street to 2 of the 3 cenotes. They were great! Cenote Azul 3.00/person Cristalina 10.00/person, both well worth it! As always the grounds are beautiful. staff is friendly and we had a wonderful time!
