    “Was worth it butttt........”

We originally switched from the Hyatt Ziba to come here so we could add an extra day and get our monies worth. That being said.... the grounds were BEAUTIFUL!!! Downfall, the resort was HUGE!! If your don’t mind walking and walking and more walking then this is not your resort! Dining is all over! And for dining.... ugh MEN HAVE TO WEAR PANTS!! No where while booking did it say that or at least I missed it. Furthermore, why would you force men to wear long pants when 1. We come to get out of the cold and travel with mostly comfort beach clothes and casual dining shorts. 2. It’s 86 degree in the Caribbean, who thinks of long pants while packing? My husband has a very nice wardrobe of vineyard fine dress shorts and polos and that’s far better to look at then ripped jeans and cargo pants. So, Men bring pants for dinner. Some of the areas on the beach you can’t access water so stay closer to Caribe and Beach if you don’t want an additional walk upon the already long walk to the beach. The buffet has great choices and ambiance is nice. Staff is very friendly we loved them all! Check in is slow and rooms weren’t ready till 4:44 but eh, who wants a hot shower after traveling all day anyways.... overall I would come back since the price is right, but we most likely will stick to the Hyatt Ziva which has proved to really have the best of the best in every aspect for us!

    “Excellent”

Just returned from 8 days at the Barcelo Maya Tropical. At first the resort seems huge but once you find your around you can visit all parts very quickly, if you wish there are very frequent open top double decker buses which ferry you from one hotel to the other which we did not find necessary. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the gardens. The room was well cleaned everyday and as we were all inclusive the mini-bar within the room was free and re-stocked everyday!! The food was very good but do please book the speciality restaurants as soon as you arrive!! as they get full very quickly. Poolside entertainment was excellent and the animation team were excellent. The nightly shows were very good!! All in all an excellent holiday Thank You!!

    “Nice resort with excellent daycare”

We have visited the Barcelo 4 times and it's been a great experience each time. The buffets are large and have a variety of food. The staff has been friendly and attentive to our needs. Lots of activities in the club so you can spend your entire vacation without the leaving the property or they have several excursions that are reasonably priced. Our favorite excursions have been the Mayan ruins followed by the water parks. Our kids love the Barcy Club daycare - this is their favorite part of the vacation. The teachers are very friendly and make each kid feel at home. A big thank you to Cinthia, Zully and Sarahi for taking such good care of our kids (Tristan and Victoria). We will definitely be back for another stay.

“Spring Break/Grad Trips don't go then if you want quiet”

Veracruz building I had heard so many good things about this resort over the years, we needed to go.. I thought how could this go wrong We stayed 10 days from March 27 2018- April 6 2018, in the, Tropical Veracruz Wing First 2 nights the air conditioner was at 24 in the room, we went down to the front desk at supper, The air was then working the next day, but made this horrible clicking sound when running, we had to turn the fan up to the 3rd level to drowned out the sound. Livable We ran out of water in our room, we never ever had it replaced, even after we asked the guest service in our hotel wing.. we ended up bring bottles from the pool bar every day back to our room for coffee in the morning. I don’t think they were even looking in the fridge/coffee area to re-stock. We had problems with getting Wifi,, Our package through Expedia had free wifi included, which we never received and ended up having to pay through Guest services. The 2 dept. didn't understand the free wifi and kept referring us back and forth between the 2. WE didn't want to spend all day figuring this out so we paid and left. We started to spend our pool time at the Tropical side, until the Grad trips started to arrive we moved to another pool as it felt like we were in a mosh pit, and had a hard time getting a drink, maybe some extra staff at these times would be useful. I don’t mind that there was Grad trips/ spring breaker… I do mind if they are chanting in the Buffets and hotel wings at night. Banging on friends doors and shouting through the hotel wing. I would also suggest getting some extra security in these areas. I felt they did not care about the other patrons in the hotel. I did find we could not get away from the Grad groups from enjoying your resort, the sports bar, the disco were always also crowded. WE did find the Mall Bar to be really nice in the back outdoors I would also suggest separating the Grad groups from the regular patrons as well, in the hotel wings. Placing them with regular vacationers made impossible for sleeping. I certainly would not come back around the spring break unless I was bringing young adults as it seems you catered to them. The beach needs some work, lots of spots in the sand around the trees were hard and crusty and some rubbish, take your swim shoes also for the water it easier on the feet. Food was mediocre, but did really enjoy the Caribe Buffet once we found it. The A la carte we visited were great (Santa Fe/ Tokyo/Mexico/La Fuente) The pools were wonderful, and enjoyed the layout of them I did not mind the extra walking, it worked off all the food and drinks. I would next time ask to get into the Colonial, as we found it a lot more central. The other family we travelled with stayed there and found it easy to get to one side or the other of the resort. It is a wonderful resort, with lots to do, without having to ever leave the grounds. Thank you

“Spring break with a group of family and friends (24persons)”

We were unhappy about our trip at all. We (6 families) booked and pay to stay in Barceló Maya Beach, but end up they sent and down raise us to stay at Barceló Maya Tropical for our whole trip without notification or credit back. Zero happy at Barceló Maya resort.
