“Lovely hotel and very friendly staff.”

The hotel itself is lovely and very nice decor. All staff extremely friendly and polite. The breakfast was great and good variety. The evening buffet meal was not so good , with limited selection and not very well cooked (however I am a chef so little more picky) The pool area and location is great but the pool is not heated as stated it was but at 21° which is cold especially when only 14° outside temperature. Spa is closed on the Mondays and Tuesdays which was extremely disappointing as we had booked the short stay for the spa. Was yogrupgrto a suit which was nice but rather had the spa! Standard room was also lovely.

“Hotel for the exercise enthusiastic people”

We stayed on the 3rd April for a week for the Easter term. Wife and five year old daughter in tow. This hotel is good for families as well as the exercise enthusiasts, located about 10 km from the airport near the edge of Cabo de Gata natural park. One do need to hire a car for traveling around Almeria. we went with Kisa car hire a local company which has a good reputation. The hotel is by the coast and it can be windy! We went with AI as my daughter is a fussy eater and it works out fine as the have a good selection of buffet food. All the staff was good with a few who knows a bit of english as the majority of the hotel guests were Spanish. We stayed on the third floor with the balcony facing the three swimming pools, the room was good, a bit dated but it was clean and the bed was a king size, enough for the three of us and comfortable, there is no coffee/tea machine in the room but there is a lobby bar which opens from 10am til midnight which serves it and alchol, also they give you a litre of water on the first night only but you can get big bottle of water at the bar if you ask nicely for AI guests only. Buffet food is served in the restaurant , breakfast is from 7.30pm to 10.30am. lunch 1.30pm to 3.30pm and dinner 7.30pm to 10pm. The buffet food got a good range. There is different range of fish at the grill bar, most of the food is quite salty but at the grill bar you can ask the cook not to put salt in. There are 3 swimming pools, two are 1.3 metre deep and one is a deep pool, we only use the pool closer to the lobby as my daughter isn't a strong swimmer, the water is not to cold if the sun is out and it's tolerable with the wind. There is another bar near the beach but that was closed because I think it's still off season. There is activity for your children from 11am- 2pm, 4pm - 6pm and a mini disco from 9.15pm to 9.45pm and a children films/amination from 9.45pm, mostly it's in Spanish but the staff will tried to accommodate your little ones if they only know english. There is a mini gym free to use and you have to pay for the spa. If you are bored with the hotel you can run the coastline or hire a bike and cycle the coast, there is a bus that goes to Almeria but having a car is a must in this hotel. WiFi is free but sometimes it's weak. I would recommend this hotel to families

    “Excellent service and good food”

We spent two weeks at this hotel as part of a package holiday. We were walking in the first week and can highly commend the packed lunches we were given. The rooms are spacious and kept clean. There was a good range of food in the restaurant. The bar service provided by Agile was excellent and Patricia provided some interesting animation activities which kept us well occupied in the second week.

    “One night stay...”

We spent one night at the Barcelo Cabo de Gata when we were visiting San Jose and the surrounding area. The hotel itself is quite nice although a bit rundown on the outside. It is located directly on the Los Marinas de Cabo de Gata beach which is nice but the boardwalk and the infrastructure is in need of maintenance. The room was nice and spacious with a comfortable bed. The hotel is near some restaurants and shopping but a car is needed as they are a bit far from the hotel. There is paid indoor parking at 7 Euros a day, and there is plenty of free parking outside beside the hotel. The hotel was not very busy during our stay but I suspect it gets quite busy during the summer. The hotel caters to an all inclusive clientele but as we were just there as hotel guests we found the bar and food prices a bit high. Having a car we were able to find a good local restaurant for dinner. However, the next morning we were unable to get a coffee as we were leaving before the lobby bar opened at 10 am. 15 or 18 Euros for a buffet just to have a coffee was a bit much.
