    “Discover a jewel”

Booked a last minute break - first visit to Menorca. Wanted a child free zone. Love our grandkids but ....... Barcelo Hamilton seemed to fit the bill. It certainly didn't disappoint. It's been a fabulous week. Quiet room with sea view and lots of interesting water 'traffic' from dinghies to cruise ships! Food of a good standard with a wide choice . Staff all pleasant and Rita provides a range of activities with no pressure to participate. The BlueSky rooftop bar is a must ...... top of the world. Hopefully first of many visits

    “Top class stay in Menorca”

We chose the Hamilton to celebrate 42 years married on the 17th May. It was a top class choice. By definition the location on the waterfront is a defining feature made more so by the architectural design and the wide picture windows overlooking the sea. We found the originality of the room design a positive change from many contemporary hotels. Our fourth floor sea view was an unexpected pleasure. Customer care at the hotel is very healthy seeking to bond with customers. The staff are very committed, friendly and hard working. There are great walks from the hotel whilst it also has a direct bus service into Mahon. It is really wonderful to explore another country's cuisine and the breakfast and dinner buffets are varied and very enjoyable. There is a danger of over eating.

    “Barcelo Hamilton Happy Days”

Just spent a week at the refurbished upmarket Barcelo at Es Castell. Location is terrific with stunning views over the main sea inlet to Mahon (essential to get a sea view room to enjoy the early morning sun on your balcony). Es Castell has several bars on side streets where the drink is cheap and you can still get a free tapas. Even better is Cales Fonts just around the corner - stunning cove with enough bars and eating places to last the week The hotel is spotlessly clean with plenty of areas to sit and relax out of the heat. The swimming pool is small in the centre of the hotel (but has a nice bar) and the rooftop spa pools are great to lie in and watch cruise ships pass slowly by. Breakfast buffet style was good but the evening meal became somewhat repetitive so we dined out more than we stayed in. Bus service into Mahon is up through the town square with the stop being by the windmill. Buses were cheap and clean. We were a party of 4 so usually got the hotel to call a taxi with fares far less than the UK. Rooms a bit small but huge bed. Bizarre location for sink and mirrors in middle of room. As you would expect the staff are very friendly and always helpful. Would I go again - a firm yes

    “Should be 5 stars”

This is a lovely hotel, situated right on the coast with easy walking to the harbour and its many restaurants. Mao/Mahon are a short bus, taxi or watertaxi ride away. Now, this adults only hotel could easily attain 5 stars but for a few penny pinching practices that let down the overall experience (see below). Pros: Lovely location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is fabulous. Food/drink prices are reasonable for the class of hotel. Some reviewers state they don't like the room layout but I actually liked the modern style of the shower/wardrobe area as it was bright and well laid out. There are two lovely pools and a roof terrace with plunge pools. So, lots in its favour, however there are some ..... Cons: I'll be honest and admit that these are very minor and didn't generally spoil our overall stay ..... however, they are very irritating! If you want to use the safe in your room you have to trot back to reception to ask for a key. To get a key you must pay a refundable deposit - fine, get that - but it will also cost you €5 per day to use it. I have stayed in dozens of hotels all over the world and never paid in any of them for this service. If you want a towel for the pool it's another visit to reception. This time a €20 refundable deposit gets you a card. The card has to be taken to the poolside bar to collect the towel. If you want to change your towel it will cost you €5 each time (non-refundable). Again, never been asked to pay for this service in any other hotel. There's a fabulous, full-sized kettle (not the usual mini one) but why they bother, goodness only knows, as you're given 2 sachets of coffee, 2 teabags and four little creams for the duration of your stay. 'Once they're gone, they're gone' as it were, and you're forbidden from bringing food and drink in. Even the most basic of establishments provide a daily replenishment of these items and I'd far rather these were replaced than the provision of combs and sewing kits in the room. (Barcelo Hamilton, I've seen your previous responses to this, please don't just tell me 'it's in the booking details' it is annoying and petty and not worthy of a four star establishment). Overall, worth a visit, but take your own coffee & teabags (& hope they don't notice), take a towel and be prepared to add €5 per day to your overall stay if you want to keep your passport safe.

    “Barcelo adults only gem”

We had a 3 night stay half board and we had a lovely time there. The hotel is well situated with fantastic views from the restaurant and roof terrace. We found the food varied and tasty. We liked the fact that there was a chef on both at breakfast and dinner cooking food to order. The hotel is well furnished and immaculate. The roof terrace is lovely and a nice way to spend a lazy afternoon. The bus stop was only a short walk away and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The only drawback for us was the bed- it felt like memory foam and we find they get far too hot. The staff were very helpful and organised a couple of bikes for us one day and also helped with our online check in. The rooms were comfortable and well fitted but the bathroom is with in the room and we would have preferred this to be more separate. All in all though a great stay and we would highly recommend this hotel.
