    “Great value great staff”

Overall a good place to stay, location is good, not too far to walk along the beach into Morrow Jable, where there are some good bars/restaurants on the beach. hotel food is good, u get the usual people mixing pasta and fajitas and then moaning it’s too similar everyday but the hotel cannot legislate for idiots! The whole hotel could do with a make over, but it is far from on the “avoid list” pillows in the rooms could do with some attention but wouldn’t put me off... if you want fair price, decent stay and great staff you won’t go far wrong, if your looking for 5 star then you need to lay out a few more euros

    “A nice hoilday but.....”

We have just returned from 10 days holiday in this hotel and whilst we enjoyed our time there are a few issues that we had. I will start with the good thing first which was the quality of the staff who were always very pleasent and extremely efficient, the food was ok for a buffet but it gets a bit samey after 10 days and there were long queues for tables if you picked the wrong time. There was never an issue with sunbeds by the pool altho the weather was not too good. The pools like many in the Canaries were blisteringly cold apart from one small pool that was heated and was of course very busy. I really cannot understand these hotels building wonderful pool complexes which are always too cold for anyone to venture in. They say that pool heating is at the discretion of the manager, well I think he should go for a dip in them each day and then decide if they need heating. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because it advertised a piano bar. We had been to a number of hotels with this facility in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the music and a bit of a dance. This piano bar however had a piano but no pianist which was very disappointing. When questioned the reception about this and were told it had a piano so was a piano bar despite no pianist. Generally the hotel was nice altho some of it looked a little tired and the position was good with there being some shops just outside the back entrance and then just 10 mins stroll to the main town. We travelled on this holiday with Jet 2 who we had heard some good things about, however our experience was not that good. On arrival at Fuertaventura airport we were told what number coach stop to go to and that the coach would be waiting, we waited about 20 mins for the coach to turn up and then the transfer took two and a quarter hours. We have been to this resort before with one to one and a half hour transfers. We booked seats on our out going flight but not on the return and as is expected we were not seated together. On arrival at the airport we asked if we could be seated together and suddenly found that the seat next to myself was free which my wife was able take. It seems so petty that some airline seat people apart on purpose which causes such bad feeling amongst passengers.

    “Fabulous”

We go home tomorrow and will be sad to leave. Initially the weather was stormy when we arrived 13 days ago but this has not spoiled our holiday. I can only praise staff and services of this hotel. It is spotless clean and we were pleased with the quality and selection of food. We were Barcelo plus and loved the breakfast experience in the little cosy restaurant. An oasis of peace and tranquillity. We love walking and have enjoyed walking to the port, up the hill behind the hotel, round tbe golf course. Feeding the chipmunk , parrots and donkeys on our walks. Weather is much improved. All in all we had a great relaxing holiday. I like many others read the negative reviews but don't know what people want out of a holiday. This hotel is great value for money.

“Four star hotel .... perhaps but not if you want warm food.”

Stayed in the Occidental Jandia Playa for one week from the 3rd of February and despite the poor weather we had a reasonable holiday. The weather for four or five of the seven days was unsettled, rainy, overcast, windy and quite cold, circa 16c. The journey from the airport to the hotel including several stops took almost two hours, the return journey about one hour ten minutes. The location on the very south of the island is a bit remote and the particular site of the hotel quite far from the centre of town. The hotel was "just OK" it's a bit dated and for the entire week it had a large container catching the water which leaked through a hole in the plasterboard of the ceiling near the entrance to the dining room. The glass roof above the main reception area also had leaky areas, and the nice marble reception area was spoiled by several towels lying on the floor. This possibly makes it sound worse than it really was because it is a complaint which actually impinges less on guests than some of the others but it is something which most hotels would have attempted to deal with immediately. In my opinion the hotel is a poor four stars, however at £650 per head full board including flights from N Ireland, it did represent good value for money and a lot of people on full board consumed a lot of free alcohol. The trees and shrubs in the grounds are attractive, the majority of guests are German and there were plenty of sun beds. Rooms are large and staff are pleasant and hard working. The piano is played I think just one evening per week which is a pity because the pianist/singer was entertaining as was one of the other solo singers from Slovakia. Some of the entertainment areas were quite drafty. The main reason that I would be unlikely to return to this hotel was the frequency with which some food dishes (most food dishes) were cold, it should surely be possible to keep soup warm. The large variety of desserts is probably the strong point of the menu. Although the dining area was usually busy only once did we have to queue for a few minutes for a table. Car parking I think was 5 euros a day but there was plenty of free parking on the road close by. The golf course nearby looked good and was probably the greenest part of the island. Sadly I think my main memory of this holiday will be cold food. This was a too regular a complaint and is something which could be rectified, at least I've never experienced this problem anywhere else.

    “Great value for money”

I have read some of the negative reviews and think they are expecting 5 star service for 4 star price. Having spent 10 years working in 5 star resorts in Australia when I was younger I found this 4 star resort excellent value for money, was everything perfect no ( deserts at dinner could be better ) but we was here to relax and recuperate and I'm going home feeling feeling great. Restaurant busy with brilliant staff, house keeping brilliant, hotel clean with lovely gardens and pools. Thank you for a lovely 9 nights
