    “Winter sun and unwind holiday”

Rooms large and nicely furnished with modern interiors. Buffet style restaurant, food luke warm and overcooked. Not many veg, what veg they had were mushy. Drinks good and quite a few branded available. Entertainment mainly in main auditorium near bar, very cold due to high ceilings (most people wearing jackets or coats). Entertainment varied from Opera to Karaoke. Second largest pool was being re-surfaced, workers there grinding down surface of pool all week, dust coming up around poolside. Poor workers only had paper masks without valves. About 20 mins walk into Costa Teguise and restaurants along promenade and 1 hour into Arrecife (Town) opposite direction along waterside. If you want to walk to Arrecife walk past power station and look for small sign which says City Centre. Rough ground for about 100 yards then pedestrian walkway and cycle path. If you go there by bus or taxi ask to be dropped by the marina. Food in Arrecife lovely, fresh fish at low prices. Staff at hotel excellent. Very large hotel, lots of children's entertainment from the team. Very windy the week we went and the week before and two days of rain. Having said that if you like big hotels and have small children it may suit you.

    “Not 4 star!”

The room were allocated was cold, dated, poorly furnished and had a pull out bed for the use of our 8 year old granddaughter. It looked out onto trees blocking light and any proper views. I asked for a room change but as the hotel was full was informed this was not possible. I did get a proper bed delivered to the room but it would have been better to have had a double and single rather than 3 singles. The self service dining was repetitive and on two nights involved quite long queues to get a table. If th a hotel is full then perhaps family diners could be allocated early times ? The pools were quite cold but on the good side the children's club and entertainment was very good. This is our first experience of occidental all inclusive and will be the last. We did stay at a Rui hotel in Sri Lanka over Christmas and had a great experience , much better food, rooms and dining choice. The occidental group needs to seek to improve to a similar standard

“good hotel.. one or two improvements would make it great!”

I will firstly qualify my review by saying that having stayed in many many all inclusive hotels over the years from the US to the Caribbean and Europe, one thing is always true; the more you pay the better it is! This might seem obvious for any kind of stay but is especially true when going all inclusive. So on that basis, on to this hotel! For the price range and what we required it for (a week in the sun over half term at reasonable cost) you will do well to beat it! POSITIVES: 1) The staff make this place what it is. In particular the entertainment team work tirelessly to ensure your stay is enjoyable. Adult and child daytime entertainment runs from 10:30am to 12:30pm and then again from 3pm to 5pm. You are not pressured if this is not your thing. We made use of the Kids club for both our 3 year old and 9 year old. For our youngest, they couldn't try harder to ensure she was happy. the night time entertainment is mainly ran by the entertainment team with a mini disco from 8pm which was very good and popular. Some nights the adult entertainment was "bought in" with dance acts and variety acts etc but in the main was done by the entertainment team. It was not west end by any means but decent (again considering my rule above!). I must mention Elisa on the entertainment team who went out of her way to keep everyone happy! 2) Family Suite - These rooms are very new and well appointed and of a good size, with bunk beds in one room, double room and a lounge with sofa bed. Something I have not seen before, which was great, was the small fenced off garden area which featured a piece of children's play equipment (what you get varied I noticed). Large bathroom with double rain shower and double sink, microwave, fridge and coffee machine (pods are payable locally). 3) Buffet choice - good selection of cold and hot foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All inclusive guests can also use the pool bar with a snack area of the usual burgers, salads, hotdogs, sandwiches etc from 11am-5pm. 4) Drinks - Each bar has an all inclusive section by the bar of beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks where you can simply help yourself. You can also order at the bar should you want a cocktail or something else 5) Facilities - lots of things to do with playground areas, mini golf and 3 pools (although only one appeared heated - see below) NEGATIVES: 1) This has been mentioned numerous times on here, but it is time for this hotel with a young family orientation to take note! WIFI was poor and most often did not work. It is not acceptable to get the stock answer that "at busy times it will be slow blah blah" - we are in the 21st century and technology exists readily to make capacity a non problem, sort this or don't profess to offer free wifi! 2) Buffet - mentioned as a positive but also a negative as I think the hotel need to re-think the show cooking area as this was like a canteen, with not enough cooking stations to satisfy demand and therefore on some nights meat being presented that was undercooked! 3) Swimming Pools - Children's pool with the slide was an ok temperature (for Feb!) but the larger pool and infants pool were simply freezing and therefore unusable. Again the stock answer is they are solar heated, but that is not good enough when a large percentage of your capacity is filled in the colder months. This has and will continue to put off customers either booking at all or returning. In summary a good hotel and for the money gave us what we wanted. We may return but would want to see the improvements above before doing so.

    “Big hotel, efficiently run”

Very nice family room, with child-friendly features. Good selection of food at buffet restaurant, very efficient service considering the number of guests catered for. I wouldn't use the a-la-carte restaurant onsite again, the buffet food was better.

    “Our mini break”

Overall great stay. Everything excellent except breakfast coffee which is dire. Improve this one thing and you really are on a winner Also perhaps vending facility adjacent to rooms to purchase water and beverages outside of service hours.
