    “Clean, beautiful and amazing service.”

We are owners of a time share at this facility, we love it. We have been going there every year for the last 10 years. The grounds are beautiful and the service is excellent! They have a dive partner on location with rental gear available.

    “Awesome hotel!”

Second time at the Occidental in Cozumel. The rooms are very nice and bathrooms are large. We were midway between lobby and beach but it appears that almost any building you stay in would be good. Beach is fantastic, you can step into the ocean and have fish surround you. Snorkeling right from your beach. You can walk a few kilometers either way on the beach. Food was very good. Beach bar and waiters were great. Always walking around the beach ready to take your order. There is an adult only pool away from the beach area but when we were there I only saw a couple of kids. Even though it’s not adults only there were mostly older adults. Would definately go back! Great vacation.

    “Relaxation”

The resort is very well kept and the gardens are very well maintained. The rooms were clean and rooms are walking distance to the beach. They really push on the time share sales but generally stop once they know you are not interested. The lounge bar kept running out of premium brands there is a problem when you run out of Kahlua which is made in Mexico. The food was average I expected better but I think this is due to the resorts being on the Island and everything has to be shipped over. The town of Cozumel is over run with people from the cruise ships which arrive daily. Not much to do but was great for relaxation the beach was kept clean but they could use more lounge chairs. Good resort as long as you do not have high expectations. If you are looking for a higher quality resorts check out the Maya Riviera which is just across the bay near the town of Playa Del Carmen. Over all experience was good and great for relaxation which I was looking for.

    “Beautiful resort”

have been to Cozumel 5 times before and tried a different resort this time. Occidental is a time sharing resort however we were not stopped by anyone although they are around the resort and do stop people. If you really do not want to sit through a few hours of their speech, then just say no thank you. The people who work at the resort are all great people, conscientious, hard working and always smiling and saying Ola as they pass you. The food was very good, although it is the same thing almost every day, but this way, you can try different foods each day. Breakfast and dinner are at the front of the hotel and lunch is by the seaside, my favourite. Always had soft or hard ice cream, and tons of desserts. Each night they have different themes for dinner, Italian, Grilled, Seafood, and plenty of it. There is a station where you can have the same as the buffet but get it cooked to your own taste. Grounds were beautiful and maintained at all times. At 4 o'clock in the lobby far in front, you can have coffee, tea or have a cappuccino or espresso made if you wish. They also have different snacks to hold you until dinner time. Beach was clean, however at 7:30 in the morning, people were reserving their lounge chairs with their towels so you must get there early. Unfortunately Mexico does not have very many palm trees on the beach so the shade is taken immediately. The sun can be extremely hot and burning. We got a room on the bottom floor which I did not like as we were looking at another building buy there was a jungle surrounding us. There are plenty of coati's, turtles and iguanas, so they may scare you if on the bottom floor. They do provide wrought iron table with two chairs. Music at night was not heard at all, at least from bungalow 16. Entertainment at night was the usual as in all resorts. It is nice to support the hard working people and go see the entertainment. There are two pools, one is an adult pool which is quiet, and again, all chairs are taken pretty early. The family and activity pool is located on the beach but is quite noisy. Rooms were kept very clean on a daily basis. The bathroom had a bathtub and a huge stand alone shower enclosed in glass with a rain shower and personal hand held shower. Gorgeous!!! If you like to walk, it is approximately 1 kilometre from front to the beach. Good walk to burn off all those calories you will be eating. Drinks were good and had enough liquor in them. Don't know why people complained about that. stay on the beach at night to view superb sunsets right on the beach. Did not encounter any bugs or sand flees either. check in was a little strange as you walk in and no one tells you where to check in. it is not your standard counter, as they have 3 desks but only 2 people working at all times. The third desk was for the Higher Level and to reserve dinner at the specialty restaurants. A ride into San Miguel by taxi cost $15 USD each way. I would highly recommend this resort.

    “Great place to vacation.”

Everything was great the grounds, the food, the room and the staff. The water activity coordinators were all GREAT! They got people involved in water sports and kept things moving and fun. They had water polo, basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball!! I also got a free brief scuba lesson, even though it was my last day!
