“Beautiful place full of people who care”

We had an overall amazing visit at Occidental at Xcaret. The resort was beautiful! There is wildlife wondering around. There were monkeys on our balcony as soon as we arrived. They were friendly and adorable. It was great having so many choices for where to swim, lounge, and eat. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We stayed for 6 days and saw Mark at information on our way to get food every day. He was always super enthusiastic and helpful. The first day we were trying to find the buffet and we must have looked lost because one of the waiters, David, came outside to help us find our way. He took us to his one of his tables and delivered top notch service the rest of the night. One day, my sister wanted to snorkel and she went to check out equipment but the stand was about to close. The lifeguard, Emilio, must have heard her talking about it because he came over and brought her gear and showed her where to go. I was napping and she yelled for me, but I didn’t hear. Emilio came over and got me, gave me gear, explained what to do and literally held my hand and swam me around to make sure I saw cool stuff. It was incredible! The service at the restaurants and bars was always great. The only issue we had was with communication and getting help at the reception desk/area. We actually missed one of our excursions because the 4 people at the front desk were folding papers and said they couldn’t help us for 10 minutes. We didn’t know where to wait. It was almost time to leave so we went to the general pick up/drop off area. We waited and nothing. I remembered seeing signs for excursion pickup so we went to those signs and followed them right back to where we had been waiting. We waited 10 more minutes and then went to the guy who was chatting with a driver at the stand in that area and asked if we were at the right place and told to go downstairs. We had already missed our transpo by that time and were put the couple hundred we had spent. How the resort works could be better communicated at check-in. We figured out after getting lost several times that there were shuttles in the resort to help get you places.

    “Beautiful!”

This resort is beautiful. There is wildlife like monkeys and Coatis that are wild on the grounds that really add to the whole beauty of the experience. The beach and natural pool are amazing. We even snorkeled and saw octopus, eels, and beautiful fish - for free! The only reason I’m not giving this 5 stars is the food. The food was good and at times great but it was hit or miss for me. Overall a great vacation will definitely be back.

    “Nice resort - Wildlife great”

Just back from a 2 week visit Pros - quick check in and yaken straight to our room which was needed after a hurricane delayed flight and an 11 hour flight due to said hurricane. Room clean and bed huge and really comftable, if coming from UK don;t need a plug as all their socketts had USB ports - so useful. Food good and even though hubby had to wear long trousers ( rule was upheld) they were goodm, Fav was the Mexican service and food good. In fact went twice. All staff lovely and most can speak english. Best place for breakfast and lunch was ddown at the Beach staff ace and views awesome. Useful having Xcaret passes for 2 weeks as we could go in for a couple of hours at a time as it was so hot and humid. Loved being at the adults only area with the salt rock pool for a dio and the sea for snorkling. Cons They did have a strike for a day even though they denied it, BA rep was great the Thomas Cook rep nowhere to be seen. When I complained was told hotel was giving out no more compensation even though the rep had just given out comp to 3 people before me. I explained this was not goingto happen to me so he phoned his boss and got my day money back. I the saw one of the hotel managers Roberto who did not introduce himself to me our even shake my hand. He denied their had been a strike so we agreed to differ. Best bit was monkeys on balcony every day ,

    “Nice Resort- Loved the Monkeys!”

We were two couples plus my adult daughter. We booked the trip together months ago, but were disappointed to be in different buildings a good distance from each other. The manager was unable to assist us and said come back next day to try to move. We found pros and cons in each of our rooms so decided to stay put. They had water problems (brown tap water), We had a problem with the AC first day. Both problems were fixed. Monkeys visited our balconies every day and we were delighted! There are lots of critters to see! Plus flamingos, parrots, turtles, and lots of fish to see in the lagoon. Easiest snorkeling even little kids can do it! Food was average. We always found something to please us. Taco place and pizza are great! Steakhouse very good! They push to get you to tour the Gold Club. We did end up going to dinner there one night and it was very nice. The views there are beautiful! You can buy tickets to go to Xceret for week for $200 each. We really only wanted one day since we've been there several times. If you haven't been there that's worth it! We were glad to have stayed there because of the monkeys. They were so cute! And mostly nice and well behaved. Remember they are wild animals and dont get too close to groups of them!
