    “Restaurant”

We loved the all inclusive offer and Arjun was a really good waiter :-) Food is very nice and there was nothing missed. But you should know, the food is very indian inspired, not british like we thought :D

“Lovely Hotel with Equally Lovely Staff”

We have just returned from a lovely week at Dukes The Palm, sadly returning to snow and sleet but that’s the joy of a winter holiday. We had a slight issue when we arrived with our room but prompt action first by Karim and then especially by Sonya, the Front Office Manager, we were speedily moved to an excellent room on the 13th floor. Sonya and her team then made sure that the rest of our holiday went beautifully smoothly and we’d like to send our thanks to them and all the staff who looked after us. We booked in one of the Presidential Suites and the room was excellent. With the Presidential Suite you have access to the Executive Lounge which is great value. A free breakfast in the Great British Restaurant is included, as well as drinks and canapés between 18.00 and 20.00. Alcohol is expensive generally in Dubai so this is very welcome indeed. Also included is 20% discount at all restaurants in the hotel and a one way airport transfer. The boys in the Executive Lounge were very warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We’re planning to return later in the year or early next year for Expo 2020 and we will have no hesitation in returning to this hotel

    “ My Stay Dukes Dubai”

Having just returned from a 5 day stay at the dukes I felt obliged to leave a review. We arrived around 9am and were greeted at the car by a lovely gent who took our suitcases and told us to head for check in. We were aware the room may not be ready but did as advised. We went to the check in desk who advised we could store our bags and they would let us know when a room was ready as check in wasn't until 3 but it should not be that late. We left our bags and went for a wonder. I cannot fault the staff looking after the baggage, nothing was too much trouble even after we had been in and out 4/5 times. We were told we could get changed up by the indoor pool as there were showers and facilities there so that's where we headed. We tried to get a 2 Pepsi's at the bar but this caused great issues as we didn't have a room number despite having cash to hand. After having to call someone from the phone at the bar to order and waiting 20+ mins we gave up. This was especially bizarre as there was a guy working at the bar and Pepsi in the fridge behind him so why this was so difficult I am not sure. We left looking for somewhere else to get a drink. We headed to the beach which was lovely, clean and there were plenty of sunbeds. There is a bar on the beach which we tried to get a drink at but again after waiting ages and nobody coming to serve us we gave up even. There were two members of staff looking at us waiting and just having a chat.. not exactly 5* service. Eventually we were able to get a drink from the sports bar. Around half 1 I went back to reception to check for an update on the room for a very rude man to interrupt me to say "if you didn't pay for early check in then check in is 3pm" despite the first lovely lady doing her best to accommodate us. We eventually got in around 2pm after going back to the first woman. The room was suitable, over looked the front of the hotel from the 1st floor or "meeting room" floor as it is called on the lift. 1 thing I will mention is the bath/shower was ridiculously hard to get in and out of due to the design (and that's coming from people in their 20's). Used the do not disturb sign and was a lovely touch that room service noticed and asked us as they walked past if we needed extra water or towels. Breakfast was manic. Wide variety of food from meats and cheese, eggs and sausages to Chinese. When sat down at the table was never once asked if wanted coffee - always had to go make them myself at the machine which was full half the time so then had to wait for it to be emptied. Had snacks on the beach from West 14th - everything was good but was mainly just chips and pizza etc. Also ate at Khyber the Indian which I would strongly recommend. Staff were amazing and could not do enough for us and the atmosphere inside was lovely. Food excellent as well. Drinks are expensive but this is fairly standard. There is a Waitrose over the road in the mall for cheaper drinks or snacks along with various fast food outlets. Although be aware you do have to walk along the road down the side of the building site as there is no path and one of the builders will stop the cars for you to cross. Sports bar is lovely to sit in on an evening but service can be very slow at times. (Occasionally asking two or three times for a drink) There is a free shuttle to various malls - great idea although I only knew about it from reading previous reviews we were not told. Used it one day, however the driver nearly crashed a couple of times so we didn't opt to use this again. The infinity pool is lovely and surprisingly warm but very deep. The lazy river was nice but you had to paddle a little bit or you got stuck as the water didn't really carry you along. Indoor pool lovely and often very quiet! We had a nice stay but I would not return to the hotel and do not believe it is representative of a 5* hotel.

    “Staff need more training”

Arrived at the hotel early morning had to wait for almost 5 hours to get a room, no customer service from staff as I waited in the hotel for that long after a long haul flight from UK no staff came to us and offered us any drinks or came up to us to give us update as when room will be available, shocking customer service from staff... some were rude... On the positive side the room was nice, outside beach was good and inside swimming pool. I must stay the two security officers were brilliant Raju and Rahman those gave better customer service then the hotel staff.. I think the hotel should give those two to reception as customer service was outstanding well done. The night security was good Motin Miah made us feel safe during our night out. Well done to the security guards... But definitely training needs to be implemented ASAP..

“The Dukes A Royal Hideaway and Khyber restaurant”

Stayed here with friends in February, excellent hotel , all staff are very friendly , breakfast buffet and evening buffet are all well catered and delicious but the highlight was visiting the Khyber restaurant on the 15th floor, it was absolutely first class with a view to die for on the outside patio overlooking the marina and the food would be hard to be topped in any Indian restaurant that I’ve been to and all cooked to your liking by the very friendly Chef Amvir Singh
