One of the musts when visiting Bahrain is to visit one of its theme parks or water parks, whether or not you go with children. It is a unique experience that combines giant slides, thrilling attractions and water games to beat the heat. Some of them recreate the period during the kingdom of Dilmun and others go far back, to the dinosaur era, but their hallmark is always to have fun.

Theme parks

Adhari Park

Covering an area of 165,000 square metres, Adhari Park is one of the most visited theme parks by tourists and locals alike: it is estimated to welcome more than 800,000 people a year.

This amusement park opened in 2008 and its fame has spread since it has some eye-catching attractions, and especially many family-friendly rides such as bumper cars, flying chairs and car races. There is also a special area for children so that everyone can have their exciting moments.

Kids Kingdom

Another popular theme park for families is Kids Kingdom, which has incredible attractions for all ages and tastes. Located in the capital, Manama, this fun and entertainment centre is divided into areas interspersed with bumper cars, trains and roller coasters of different levels.

The park is famous for the variety of options it offers for young and old in one place.

Bahrain Dino Park

Can you imagine a roller coaster that ends in a dinosaur’s mouth or flying cars trying to avoid the fury of a Tyrannosaurus Rex? Something similar can be found at Dino Park, an amusement park set in prehistoric times when these huge animals ruled the earth.

The amusement park has areas for all ages, including the youngest visitors who cannot go on risky rides but can enjoy some unique settings for the whole family.

Among the most popular rides are the Tagada, Red Baron and Paratrooper, three attractions with the longest queues but which are the most thrilling.

Water parks

The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park

In Bahrain’s hot weather, water parks are the most popular family fun attractions. The country’s largest is The Lost Paradise of Dilmun, set in the ancient kingdom that occupied the island, which is located in the south-west, in the middle of the desert.

Its 77,000 square metres of oasis evoke beautiful ruins of the lost civilisation of Dilmun, with more than 20 slides, some of them gigantic and with extra thrills.

The park, which is considered one of the best in the world, has a capacity of up to 5,000 people per day and has already attracted millions of visitors since it opened its doors.

Among the areas with different attractions are the Desert Oasis and a Paradise Garden that provides rides for the whole family.

Wahoo

Located in the City Centre Bahrain Mall in Manama, this 15,000 square metre water park is not the largest but it is one of the most convenient for a family day out as it is inside a shopping centre.

In fact, it is the first water park in the Middle East to share indoor and outdoor areas with its slides that spin and go up and down to ensure fun for all visitors.

It has facilities for all ages, both children and adults, including a surf simulator and indoor swimming pools. One of the highlights of Wahoo is the variety of its attractions, which will thrill all the family members.

Water Garden Manama Bahrein

This water park, also located in Manama, is perfect for families since it is more secluded, but with an extensive variety of water attractions for all visitors, including children.

The park invites you to explore and wander through every nook and cranny full of attractions and a large variety of games where water is always the protagonist. It provides a refreshing sensation that comes in handy when the heat is on, especially in the summer months.

That is why this type of park is one of the most popular attractions for families, whether they live in Bahrain or visit it, so that they can feel cool at least one day.

Activities for children

Theme parks and water parks are one of the main activities to do with children, but you can also plan other trips that will become real adventures for the children. Options include a visit to Bahrain’s Formula 1 circuit, one of the most modern in the world, or snorkelling at some of the island’s beaches, such as Al Muharraq.

You can also visit a camel farm where children can feed these animals, pet them, take photos with them and even ride them, in some cases, to learn all about the species.
