Tour Description
Discover Mérida with an official guide on a walking tour through its most significant monuments.
We will meet at Plaza de Margarita Xirgu, the meeting point for this tour.
We begin by entering the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre complex, learning about the importance of entertainment buildings in Roman society. The tour continues with our local official guide, who will reveal the mystery behind the “headless” statues of the Forum Portico, before we admire the spectacular Temple of Diana.
Next, we will visit the Santiaguista Conventual, currently the seat of the Presidency of the Regional Government of Extremadura. Walking alongside the Arab Alcazaba, we reach the Guadiana River, where the tour ends while admiring the exterior of the Alcazaba, the Capitoline Wolf, the Roman Wall, and the Roman Bridge—the longest on the Iberian Peninsula.
