The best thing about deciding where to eat in Sancti Petri is that there are loads of options. And every one of them is a good, convincing one. This spot, next to La Barrosa, one of the most spectacular beaches on the Cadiz coast, is home to a seemingly endless list of restaurants, terraces, beach bars, beach clubs and regular bars.
Several of the best are located in luxury hotels in the area, with menus designed by chefs recognised in the Michelin and Repsol guides. But alongside them, there are also more modest places where you can enjoy the kind of dishes that make Cadiz one of the country’s top food destinations.
Below are some of the standout spots to eat in Sancti Petri, based on reviews from social media and specialist guides and publications. As always, beyond our suggestions, we recommend doing your own research and following your instincts, as well as your nose. You won’t be disappointed.

Best restaurants in Sancti Petri
Two of the top places to eat in Sancti Petri are Atunante and Chez Lumière, located in the Royal Hideaway Sancti Petri hotel from the Barceló Hotel Group; more on those below.

Alongside them, there are plenty of restaurants in the area known for their quality, originality and authenticity. Here are a few good examples:
El Árbol Tapas (Ctra. La Barrosa esquina con La Cañadilla, local 3)
This personal project from chef José Luis García and his wife Mari Paz, who runs the dining room, offers a wonderful dive into Cadiz’s most genuine and enticing flavours and ingredients. Don’t be put off by the word “Tapas” in the name; this place serves great food.
El Cuartel del Mar (Bajada de la Torre del Puerco, s/n)
When this original restaurant opened in 2020, it shook up the Sancti Petri food scene. Located in what was once a Civil Guard barracks, it offers a complete experience, with sunset views as a key attraction. The top-quality, produce-driven cooking is equally compelling.
Nova Sunset Club (en la playa, junto a la calle Tiberio)
A lively beach club, hugely popular at sunset, where you can enjoy a Mediterranean and Spanish menu (with great rice dishes) built around the best seasonal produce. The grilled dishes stand out, from seafood to vegetables and meat.
Popeye (Camino Carralojilla, s/n)
Close to one of the main entrances to Sancti Petri, this place is a local institution. Because it serves up the best fish, seafood and rice dishes in a relaxed yet professional setting. The rice stew with scarlet prawns is a standout.
Atrípiko Gastro Bar (Av. Pescadores, 1)
Colombian chef and owner Santiago Moncada offers a fun, skilful fusion of Latin American and Spanish cuisine. You might start with tuna arepas or ceviche, then move on to scallops served in traditional Spanish style. It’s worth noting that most of the menu is gluten-free.
Fogón de Mariana (Bogavante, 10-12)
Traditional Cadiz cooking with a modern touch, made using local ingredients. Of course. Here, the coals of the grill are the star, adding flavour and texture to beef from La Janda. You’ll also find vegetables from Conil and quality Iberian pork.
Where to eat well and cheaply in Sancti Petri
Although Sancti Petri has a reputation for exclusivity, there are still great places to eat well, regardless of your budget. Here are some of them:
El Rincón del Pulpo (Av. de la Barrosa, 3)
As well as the menu’s highlight, octopus in many forms, this popular spot serves all kinds of fish and seafood prepared in Cadiz and Andalusian style. The dishes are perfect for sharing, so the prices are reasonable.
Asociación de Pescadores Caño Chanarro (Puerto Deportivo, calle de la Rivera)
Right in the marina, this fishermen’s association dining room guarantees freshness. You’ll eat what was caught that day, simply cooked to let the flavour shine.

Flotante (Poblado de Sancti Petri)
Seafood, fried fish, grilled fish, tapas and small plates, everything you’d expect from a traditional Cadiz restaurant. And all at a great price.
Pizzería Artesanal Il Bacio (Centro Comercial Altamar, primera planta)
This place is known and loved locally for its pizzas, located in a popular shopping centre with other affordable dining options too.
El Patio de los Pintxos (Centro Comercial Novo Sancti Petri)
A wide variety of pintxos (small bar snacks, often served on bread) inspired by modern Basque cooking, alongside more local dishes. All served in a very welcoming setting.
Beach bars in Sancti Petri
La Barrosa beach stretches for over eight kilometres, much of it developed, so it’s no surprise there are plenty of excellent beach bars and clubs right on the sand. This is our selection, but there are plenty more options, offering different vibes and flavours to suit every taste.
La Loma (loma del Puerco)
It may be called a beach bar because it’s on the sand, but it’s really a luxury restaurant serving modern international cuisine, with a great seafood selection and some local favourites. Such as fried fish, fish from the Atlantic and beef from the Sierra de Cadiz.

Vavá Playa
Both the dishes and the cocktails, mixed drinks and other drinks served here have an international twist. Everything is based on quality ingredients, which, understandably, comes at a price. An extensive, carefully chosen menu is always welcome right on the beach.
Santorini Playa (El Rodaballo, 3)
Chefs Andrés Gil and Ramón Durán have created a menu for this beach bar fusing Mediterranean, Andalusian, Latin American and Asian flavours. The food is as enjoyable as the music you’ll hear throughout the summer.
Ohana Barrosa
While the food is definitely worth a try, people mostly come to this beach bar for the unbeatable Cadiz-style vibe. It’s open from breakfast until late, meaning the menu has a bit of everything, including cocktails. Their selection of crêpes, cakes, pancakes and homemade desserts is worth a look.
Coconovo Beach (junto al hotel Royal Hideaway Sancti Petri)
After a morning or afternoon lounging on Balinese beds, round things off with a menu full of Andalusian and Mediterranean dishes. The wine list is especially good, with excellent Spanish and international labels.
Food at the Barceló hotels in Sancti Petri
The food scene at the Barceló Group resort in Sancti Petri is as varied as it is delicious. It includes the Royal Hideaway Sancti Petri hotel and Novo Resort The Residence Luxury Apartments by Barceló. Across its five restaurants (four à la carte and one buffet), you’ll find food to suit all tastes and dietary needs.
At Atunante, Cadiz and Andalusian cuisine is taken to the next level, with tuna, the signature product of this coast as the guiding thread running through it all. At Chez Lumière, it’s all about fine French cuisine, designed by the brilliant Juanlu Fernández (of the Michelin-starred restaurant Lu in Jerez de la Frontera).
Saarq is ideal for dreamy evenings, with its Arabesque decor and Oriental dishes. At the La Bahía beach club, fresh fish and seafood play a leading role. And the Almadraba buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, ranging from Mediterranean to international cuisine.
The Royal Breakfast at Royal Hideaway is worth a special mention, exclusively available to hotel guests, which offers a generous selection of seasonal, local dishes. They are all designed to support health and well-being.
