About the Tour

Discover Istanbul’s local cuisine on this walking food tour with a local guide. Explore the city’s life and gastronomy in the European side of Istanbul.

Get the chance to taste a variety of Turkish dishes in the Fatih district (the historic peninsula) and the Golden Horn neighborhood.

Join a small group and enjoy food at local restaurants with an English-speaking local guide.

Tour Itinerary

-We will walk and stop at different places to eat (some seated, some standing).

-We will cross a bridge over the Golden Horn, used by cars traveling to Taksim.

-Stop at the Golden Horn waterfront and take photos. Stroll through the neighborhood known as the Women’s Market (Kadınlar azarı in Turkish), famous for selling products from southeastern Anatolia, such as meat, cheese, honey, grape molasses, butter, and more.

-The tour starts at 5:00 PM in front of the Spice Bazaar and ends at 10:00 PM, near the Beyazıt tram stop, close to the Grand Bazaar.

- In front of the Egyptian Bazaar (Spice Bazaar), next to the tourist police booth. The Spice Bazaar entrance, opposite the Galata Tower and Bridge, is next to the Yeni Camii (New Mosque) in Eminönü. If arriving by tram, get off at Eminönü, cross the traffic light, and walk to the Spice Bazaar. Before entering, you will see a police booth on the right where your guide will meet you.


Street Food Tasting

-Soup (vegetarian)

-White rice with peas (vegetarian)

-Stuffed mussels (seafood)

-Çiğ köfte (vegetarian) – made with tomato paste, pepper paste, onion, salt, oil, pomegranate syrup, lemon juice, and water

-Lahmacun (M) – made with minced meat, spices, and vegetables (Turkish pizza)

-Büryan kebap (M) – made with whole lamb (without organs), cooked in a wood-fired clay pit 2–3 meters deep. Dessert is eaten standing

-Dessert: Halka tatlısı – made with dough, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, etc.


-The final stop will be Çorlulu AliPaşa Medresesi (Old Madrasa). Relax and enjoy Turkish tea or coffee.

-The tour ends in Beyazıt, near the Grand Bazaar tram stop, a 10–12 minute walk from Sultanahmet Hippodrome. Your guide will help you finish the tour here.
