Kamelia Britton (AKA Hackerette) is San Diego-based — when she’s not traveling the world, that is. One of Kamelia’s latest trips took her to the Riviera Maya for a refreshing stay in a luxurious swim up suite at the all inclusive Barceló Maya Caribe (one of five resorts that comprise the Barceló Maya Grand Resort). You can read her full report here, but we wanted to get a few more details from this globetrotting influencer.
What’s the best thing about visiting Riviera Maya in the winter?
Kamelia Britton: The weather was absolutely beautiful. We were able to wear our summer clothes in January! If you’re looking to escape the cold, then this is definitely the place to be.

It’s usually from a feeling of great discontent that the seeds of accomplishment are sown. ? If you’re feeling unhappy with your current situation, don’t focus on that. Focus on what you’d like to happen instead. ? Create new tiny goals to get you closer to where you want to be. Start small and keep your goals in mind with every new choice that you make. Like a plant, a new goal will take time to grow. Be patient. ? Nurture it. Keep it alive and thriving. Give it attention and love. After all, What could possibly be more important than feeling happy in this one precious life? ? Just my little Thursday Thoughts ❤️
How does a stay at Barceló Maya Caribe recharge your creative batteries?
Kamelia Britton: The resort has such a relaxed vibe and everywhere you turn there’s something beautiful to look at! I found so many little Instagrammable spots during my stay, and it was easy to create content. It’s also so easy to relax there and you really have everything you could ever want right at your fingertips.
What were the best things you ate/drank at Barceló Maya Caribe?
Kamelia Britton: Oh my gosh, I think I ate and drink everything in sight, and it was all so amazing! We loved having breakfast along the beach at Captain Morgan’s. For happy hour drinks (included in our all inclusive experience!) we loved heading over to the Mall bar because they made the most colorful cocktails!
Do you recommend the resort’s “premium level” option?
Kamelia Britton: Yes! We loved being able to go to the premium level at each property and enjoy snacks and drinks at any time of day. Also, when we needed help there was a Concierge there to help us right away instead of having to wait in a line.

I’ll be crossing the border into Mexico again today! ?? This time I’ll be traveling with @travelmassive to explore the Valle de Guadalupe wineries! ? I’ve heard so many great things about this area, and I’m excited to finally discover what some call Mexico’s version of Tuscany! ?? Catch me in stories to come along with me for the trip! ❤️ (Photo from my recent stay at @barcelomayagrandresort)
What was the most surprising aspect of your Barceló Maya Caribe getaway?
Kamelia Britton: The most surprising thing was that it was so much better in person than I thought it was going to be! The pictures online just can’t capture how grand this resort really is. It was even more beautiful than we thought it was going to be. I also loved how it never felt crowded even though it’s quite an expansive property. There’s plenty of room to roam, relax, and recharge. We loved our stay and would definitely go back, and even bring our kids the next time. There’s really something for everyone here.
