    “Safe, kid friendly, carefree and happy holiday resort”

    Our room was cuatro cero cero siete and the balcony view included the lobby doors and the bay. The sun came directly at us around 1745 and set behind the building opposite around 1830. Other than the "Clomp clomp clomp " early every morning from the room above it was a good location. The room itself is excellent - full soaker tub, tremendous shower, two sinks! - king sized bed and a sitting area big enough for a table and a couch. The room was stocked daily with plenty of water and other beverages, the maid service was good, and the bathrobes felt great after a day at the beach. The beach is a safe and secluded man-made cove, great for kids and for going for a dip. Outside the complex the waves in the bay were too powerful for swimming. Food at the buffet was very good (9/10). The a la carte choices were Asian/Japanese (6/10), Italian (7/10) and Mexican (10/10) . Great location on a hill cliff overlooking the bay, water crashing right below your table., fantastic food, and lovely authentic live music. didn't do the disco, the evening entertainment was cute. Bar service outside could be slow at times, but inside the people in the lobby were very efficient and friendly. I stopped eating at the snack bar near the beach after witnessing a child climb up the counter in his bare feet and proceed to drop the food tongs onto the ground. Kudos for the hand sanitizers everywhere in the complex. my rudimentary Spanish. Unlike other resort we have been to the vino tinto was acceptable. Bar staff were very willing to make specialty drinks although we didn't order any. Getting a chair at the beach can be an issue, finding a spot near the pool usually is more difficult than the beach. Not enough chairs, not enough shade umbrellas. We would definitely return. Lobby staff were always friendly and helpful despite Room tip - make sure your sliding door to the balcony is centred when you close it - the AC sensor is in the door track and may trigger the AC to turn off if the doors are not centered.

    “Vacation 2017”

    The trip was off to a rocky start. Arrived at the resort around 10:30 pm on Fri Feb 10. Went to our first room...the smell of kerosene was disturbing...maintenance came and checked the room however; he couldn't smell the scent...unfortunately, we didn't stay in that room which had a spectacular view. Once, we were familiar with the resort we noted this room was above the main buffet kitchen. Off to our second room. A/C wasn't working and we had issues closing the door. But chose to stay the night cause by this time it was 12:30. Next morning went for breakfast only to come back to the room and the door wouldn't open - the latch was stuck. Maintenance came to fix a/c ... which dripped and a towel had to be place on the floor. Issue with door was being worked on. We decided to move to another room which was a view of the golf course. Sadly, they wouldn't give us any type of upgrade for free...not even the WIFI :( and @ 45$/person/night USA$ we weren't willing to pay. Which gave you the same type room, WIFI and the 'premium' liquor...which I ended up buying at the Walmart very cheap $$$!!! The worst meal and service was at the Mexican dinner. The best service was at the Japanese restaurant. Couldn't have asked for anything better!!! Two thumbs up. Overall the food was good and so were the drinks. If, you're wanting to pamper yourself at the spa I highly recommend Lucy ;) another two thumbs up. The place is in dire need of an overhaul of their 'Entertainment'...the shows were awful and very painful to watch...we couldn't sit through the entire show. Then we didn't even bother to go. The other disappointment was not being able to walk the beach. Sand wasn't smooth, was steep not flat, kind of uncomfortable to walk. Front desk was often out of Pesos. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

It does indeed sound from what you describe that some aspects of your stay did not meet our usual standards of service; please accept our sincerest apologies for failing to make your stay with us a perfect moment of relaxation, we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. As for the air conditioning and the door we felt there was a problem with the operation of the system in your room; Our maintenance staff is working on it. However, we are happy to know that luckily we had availability and were able to offer you alternative accommodation. It is also good to know that you enjoyed the many culinary delights prepared by our professional Chefs who always strive to offer a wide variety of typical delights in order to please all palates and we thank you for letting us know that we could conquer yours. Thank you for your very nice compliments for our team, they do work very hard every day to make sure our guests feel well attended to at all times and definitely are an asset to our hotel. We will certainly relay your praising comments to all of them and we are sure they will be pleased to know their efforts have been appreciated. On the other hand we are glad that you have enjoyed the beauty of our SPA as well as the relaxing of our treatments.     “Nice Sleepy Rural Vacation at the Barcelo Karmina”

    Overall, the resort had plenty of good pools for the family and a faster and more thrilling than expected waterslide. The buffet meals had a very good variety and the seating provided excellent views of the bays. There is a small protected bay for snorkeling which was fine for families who wanted a simple experience. The water however, I found had a bit of a bad odour which made me suspicious to think there may have been some effluent being channeled out to the sea nearby. Overall, the hotel grounds and gardens were well maintained. We did not try the 3 other restaurants at the hotel because we mostly wanted to experience the restaurants around the towns so I couldn't say whether or not they were good. I did observe however that aside from the Japanese restaurant, the other 2 restaurants did not seem to have many customers during the week we were there. By the way, the other 3 restaurants are not included in the all inclusive meal plan. In regards to the rooms, they were a bit dated but very spacious. The foldout bed as most foldout beds were was not very comfortable so the family had to take turns sleeping on it over a 7 day period. I would not recommend and one member to sleep on it for the entire vacation. Overall, the rooms were comfortable and the bathroom was quite large and spacious. Some cons to the resort included a long walk from the hotel lobby to the street. It almost forces families to take taxis everywhere. Some might say this is actually an advantage as it sets the hotel back away from the busy street and noise but for us, it was a bit too far back for any practical purposes. About the towns and areas around Manzanillo, it is mostly a sleepy rural area. There are small towns such as Manzanillo Centro, La Manzanilla, Barra la Navidad, etc. Most of these places are quite small and does not have much going on. I would say if you are looking for a quiet, no nonsense, relaxing vacation with minimal shopping and sightseeing, this is a pretty good place to go. There are plenty of beaches but you don't get the clear aqua blue beaches that you might get elsewhere in Mexico. Overall, our family enjoyed the resort and the area but would we go back ? Probably not but not because the resort wasn't good but because there are other places we would like to explore first.

    Tolles Familienhotel mit 'All inclusive' Leistungen. Die Garten- und Poolanlage ist einzigartig und TOP gepflegt. Die Standardzimmer - alles Junior Suiten- sind hervorragend ausgestattet. Das Angebot der Restaurants ist sehr abwechslungsreich ( hervorheben möchte ich hier das 'Kyoto' ein fantastischer Japaner und den Mexikaner - beide sehr lecker!)

    “Bringen Sie Ihr eigenes Essen und Getränke sowie Sahne für den KAFFEE mit”

    März 2008 Britische und amerikanische Mitglieder bei Tripadvisor KEINE QUALITÄT Unsere erste „Alles Inklusive“-Reise, für die wir uns nur entschieden hatten, weil es ein Direktflug von Edmonton, AB, Kanada, nach Manzanillo und eine Last-Minute-Reise (wir sind neu in Kanada und hatten nicht viel Zeit zu planen) war. Essen und Getränke sind miserabel – es war NICHT möglich, eine Tasse anständigen Kaffees zu bekommen. Glücklicherweise konnte man in 20 Minuten zu einem neuen Wal-Mart (komplett mit bewaffnetem Wachmann mit einem Gewehr Kaliber 12 statt der üblichen Empfangsperson) laufen, wo es ein tolles Café gab. Wenn Sie ALLERDINGS Sahne in Ihrem Kaffee haben möchten, BRINGEN Sie Ihre eigene mit –NIRGENDWO gibt es frische Sahne ... nicht einmal im Hotel. Die Cocktails wurden mit billigen Mixern zubereitet und es gab nicht einmal Corona. Ich war gespannt auf den riesigen Flohmarkt am Samstag, wo ich Ausschau nach Silberschmuck halten wollte. An jedem Stand gab es aber den gleichen Silberschmuck und er wurde nach Gewicht verkauft und alle Verkäufer hatten so etwa den gleichen Preis – kein gutes Silber (Ware, wie sie in US-Kaufhäusern angeboten wird). Wir machten die Sonnenuntergang-Bootsfahrt mit, die IN ORDNUNG war - der Führer, ein junger Mann, machte dauernd Witze und bat um Trinkgeld - das ging so die ganzen zwei Stunden lang und die Fahrt kostete rund 80$ für zwei Personen. NIEMAND ging zum Strand außerhalb des Hotelgeländes, nicht mal zum Sonnenbaden – die meisten Gäste saßen den ganzen Tag am Pool. Unser Zimmer wäre perfekt gewesen, wenn das Badezimmer besser gepflegt worden wäre, schlechter Zustand - Schimmel um die Dusche – man hätte es wirklich gründlich reinigen müssen. Ansonsten war das Zimmer in Ordnung und bot einen tollen Blick aufs Meer. Das Personal ist nett, aber sehr träge, und jeder hält die Hand auf, um für seine Arbeit ein Trinkgeld zu bekommen. Das ging einem schnell auf die Nerven. Wir baten das Hauspersonal immer wieder um Bademäntel in unseren Größen und als die Managerin kam, musste ich ihr neben dem Zimmermädchen ebenfalls Trinkgeld geben, nur damit sie das tat, was sie eigentlich im Rahmen ihrer normalen Tätigkeit tun müsste. Das Hotel hat Potenzial, aber bei der Einstellung der Einheimischen und der Kundschaft wird wohl nichts daraus. Wir werden NICHT wieder dort absteigen.
