Aruba is famous for its magnificent beaches with gentle waves and constant trade winds that cool down the entire coastline. With stable temperatures of 80°F and very little rain, the island is ideal for a sun and beach vacation, especially in Palm Beach along the Caribbean coast, where you’ll find the best hotels in Aruba. Luxury resorts welcome travelers wishing to spend time swimming, sunbathing, and savoring delicious gourmet meals with tropical beverages. However, the beaches are just the beginning. Tourists staying at the best hotels in Aruba can also enjoy water sports and visit places of interest that are truly fascinating.

Island Excursions

To the north of Palm Beach, those staying in our Aruba hotels will find Hadicurari Beach, whose strong winds make it ideal for windsurfing. Colored sails stand out against the glistening waters of Hadicurari, which was once a fishing village but has now focused on other water sports, with the Hi-Winds windsurf and kite-boarding tournament is held here every June. Continuing north, travelers will arrive at the California lighthouse which sits along the northwest tip of the island. The lighthouse was named after a steamship that sunk in the area (not the state in America), and it offers amazing 360-degree views. Exploring the Atlantic coast, tourists can enjoy spectacular views of the rugged cliffs and big waves that form the untamed side of the island. Another tourist point of interest is the Bushiribana ruins, which are the remains of a gold mine that extracted over 3 million euros of precious metal in the 19th century. Returning to the interior, travelers will discover Aruba's donkey sanctuary, where these friendly animals gentle nuzzle visitors with their snouts and happily eat the treats given to them. At the nearby ostrich farm, these big-eyed birds strut and peck on the food which has been left for them by the visitors. Expert guides will help explain the habits of ostriches. Did you know that burying their head in the sand is a myth? A trip to Aruba wouldn't be complete without visiting Arikok National Park, with its rich landscapes of caves, sand dunes, and limestone cliffs, all of which are densely populated by local wildlife. Enjoy the goats, donkeys, and iguanas that live freely in the arid terrain.

Cityscapes

The delights of an urban city are concentrated in Oranjestad, the capital of the island of Aruba. The city showcase its Dutch influence with its small Dutch-style buildings. Structurally, these houses are like the ones in Amsterdam, but the island versions are painted in tropical shades of pink, aquamarine, and lime green. Aruba is an autonomous member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which acquired the island in 1636 from its previous Spanish rulers, who gave it away after not finding any gold. Over time, it became an important supply bunker for international trade. As a result of this mixture of inhabitants, the local dialect is a mixture of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and English known as Papiamento. Bon Bini means “welcome” in the local language, and it is also the name of a folk festival that is held every Tuesday in Oranjestad. Traditional dancers, food stalls, and craft vendors take over the streets for several hours. This is a sample of the Amerindian culture that dominated Aruba before the Europeans arrived.
