    “Take the all inclusive option”

All inclusive does not include tipping but the 20 or so pesos here and there goes a long way toward making a big difference to your stay here. Our tips over the week probably totalled about $US10/day and the service was as good as it gets. Food, drinks, accomodation and service were all excellent. We will be back for more of this. Well done to all at Barcelo.

    “Sun vacay”

The Barcelo is situated in a perfect area for long beach walks or stepping off the resort to shop or sight see. The nightly entertainment is very good. Idolina and Socorro made our dining experience a treat. Daily yoga with Ilse was a great way to start the day. The only thing I did not like was having to pay 45.00 US a week for WiFi.

    “Hot sun and bronchitis.”

We both had lung infections when we arrived mid March. Next day we got a doctor (thank you front desk) and got some meds. Despite our physical condition we had a good time. Shows in the evening were entertaining. Meals at the buffets were very good and of good variety. Cocktails were pretty good. Not watery or over boozy. Pools were a little warm but considering temperatures were in the 30s, not surprising. Beds are spring based and a little hard and wobbly. Access to the toilet/shower room is wierd. To close the door you basically have to step into the shower. Making the door swing out would fix that. Like all the hotels in zone 1, it is showing its age and requires constant maintenance,,, that they are doing.

“Hidden Gem - best Mexican trip to date”

We can’t say enough about this incredible hotel, best kept secret. Beautiful bay and great ocean swimming. Beach volleyball organized once or twice a day. Our family voted as the best trip we’ve taken out of 10 AI Mx ages 13 & 15 kids. Had family sunset photos done by resort photographer which included a free pic. Individual digital were $7, make your own prints. All were so good, we chose 10 poses. You didn’t have to get up early to reserve chairs, staff would put out clean towels rolled on chairs every morning. Never an issue getting a chair at pool or on beach at any time. Popular with Mexican families & even a few weddings during our stay. incredible friendly staff & resort immaculate, staff would serve drinks poolside, always collecting empty cups. Each bathroom had own attendant. à la cart restaurants always able to get a reservation and the food was incredible. Didn’t expect to have amazing sushi in Mx!! we negotiated a Wi-Fi code at the front desk forUS$20 per week for four devices Fun shopping at the market right across the street for souvenirs or anything you need. Fun experience. We took the city bus to Ixtapa Island for a snorkelling day, stop is right outside hotel. it’s so easy to rent everything right on the island; you can have lunch and they watch all of your belongings very well organized & easy to do on your own. No need to book as a hotel excursion Negotiated at front desk to upgrade to a family suite. No problem. They released baby turtles and we saw a turtle laying eggs one night on beach. Amazing experience You can walk the bay beach end to end 45mins. When you see all the other hotels you feel like Barcelona’s the best one. We went for two weeks and never tired of anything, how could you when so many options!!! Really liked its only 20mins from airport, so nice to not have an hours ride to hotel. Can’t wait to go back!!
