    “Excellent Stay”

    Just Returned from The Barceló after a seven day stay, very impressed with the food and cleanliness of this resort ,cleaning is going on all day .Did not take advantage of the other restaurants as the food at the buffets were very good .Would definitely stay here again .

    “Very good, Almost great”

    As a Barcelo resorts devotee, when I saw that the company had absorbed and transformed a hotel in Cabo I was extremely excited to check it out. All in all, I'd say it was a 4/5 experience. I have broken down my reasoning below. Resort cleanliness 5/5: The grounds were very well kept, including the beach, and groundskeepers were quiet and unobtrusive. Room Cleanliness 3/5 : the room was fine but there was vomit down the front of the toilet which I noticed a short time after we checked in (super gross). When I asked at the front desk early the next morning if they could make a note about it for housekeeping to take care of I was looked at like I was the one responsible (I was not). Additionally, housekeeping never cleaned it, so after two days of it remaining on the toilet I gave in and cleaned it. VERY gross, I am not pleased with that. Food 3/5: The buffet breakfast/lunch/dinners were pleasant enough, although there was nothing particularly enticing. Fresh omelette, seafood, and steak stations were nice, however, and there was decent variety. I was a little disappointed that items from other Barcelo buffets didn't make their way onto this one's menu (poached eggs in red sauce with breakfast, more variety of fresh fruits). All in all they were fine, though. The restaurants were hit and miss (and miss). The Jicama restaurant was never available for us to book a reservation for, which was disappointing (especially considering how empty the resort seemed while we were there). The sushi restaurant was ,dare I say, somewhat wretched. I have a milder opinion of it than the hubby, who truly hated it, but it was a disappointing experience food-wise. (the view is cool, however, if you get a reservation before the sun goes down). The menu was limited, the seafood mediocre at best, and every sushi roll had a HUGE glob of cream cheese in it. Not delicious. The Italian restaurant was the most enjoyable of the bunch, and our server was a delight. The Skybar has a weird aesthetic but beautiful views and it was never noisy when we were there. The snack bar served its purpose, and the pool bar was always 5/5. The Pools 5/5: You have a bunch of options here which is really nice. There is an adults-only infinity pool that looks out on the ocean, a more populated "party" pool where the aerobics, volleyball, and daytime activities take place, and a quieter pool nearby for lounging. Deck loungers were plentiful and we never had to fight for an umbrella which was glorious.

    “Service and facilities were exemplary.”

    The staff here was remarkable from the minute you arrived. The pool entertainment group of young people led by Christopher were amazing...attentive, kind and fun as they led us in water aerobics, trivia games, etc. I never had an empty glass (be it iced tea or adult beverages) as the team of pool waiters were constantly checking on us. Evening entertainment in the Lobby Bar was innovative and full of energy and talent. The room comfortable and cleaned daily...and I mean really cleaned....every corner of this resort is spotless. The proximity to San Jose del Cabo was fabulous..enjoyed the Thurs night art walk, shopping and live music in town. A highlight for me was the fabulous pools...especially the infinity pool right on the sand. The only downside of this resort for me was lack of availability of non-buffet dining. Staying 5 nites afforded us only 2 nites in their on site restaurants...they have 3 available...Italian, Sushi and Mexican. We didn't get to sample the Mexican as we only had 2 nites. That said, I would highly recommend this place....can't say enough about the staff. Deb

    “Spectacular stay!!”

    First time visit to Cabo and my friend and I made the perfect selection for our resort. The grounds are well maintained and the views are unbeatable. We had an ocean view room with premium access and loved the view waking up and going to bed. All the staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to go the extra mile. Overall the food was very good...a few hits and misses but that happens everywhere. We definitely want to come back and bring our kids next time!

    “Very disappointed”

    So we have stayed a Barcelo Resorts on 7 occasions so we are "Intense" members with special perks. We have stayed at this resort once before about 4 years ago. We are presently staying here until May 21, and we arrived yesterday. To start with, we booked our airport transfer from the Barcelo Gran Faro web site and paid in advance for this service. We were given instructions that someone would be waiting for us outside the airport with our name. We waited for almost 2 hours (looking up and down in front of airport and no one arrived. We ended up having to take a taxi to the resort. Secondly, we booked our junior suite room over 10 months ago on Barcelo.com with special request for room location (as is one of the privileges of being an Intense member). We were not granted this request and did not get a room with our preferred location. The response by Barcelo staff to these shortcomings is basically "oh well, there's nothing we can do about it". They will not refund our transfer cost. This is quite frustrating and irritating to say the least. Yes, the food and pools/beach are beautiful - but on our second day here and the lack of help in fixing these issues for us has ruined our vacation. We will not be coming back to this resort.
