    “Worse experience in a Barcelo facility”

    My family and I stayed for 8 days, I have to say without them i would had ask for a refund. First of all, I wonder how do they get such good rating, well not my case. We had a total of 7 rooms, mine being a premium room, and yes still not a great experience. Let's start by the fact that everyone in my family had at least 3 bedrooms change until they gave up due to smoke smell and poor security on doors in regards to first floors. The BEDDING, usually you don't want to get up out of the bed since usually they are really comfy, well not the case, terrible comforter, woke up my wife everytime I needed to go use the restroom. The bathroom it's nice, but try to go without waking up your partner, well once you turn on the light it feels like the entire room light are on since it lacks in close private bathroom. The room was clean and can't complain about the refill of bar, but the fridge, you are better off leaving the drinks in the balcony. In regards to the service around the pool and beach, it was outstanding, very helpful employees that help us keep the party going with drinks. Besides that, we had terrible time at the shows, bearly any show, had more weddings and events than anything and when they had a show, really bad interaction, out of 7 days, 1 or 2 where decent. Let's talk about premium level, you expect a much premium treatment, well not the case, it was harder to catch their attention to ask any questions since they sent us somewhere else, even when I ask for nice beer, since the service employees where no where to be find and the front desk lady couldn't leave the desk alone, supposedly. The food, from 1 to 10, I give them 5, being generous, that's counting both buffet and al a carte. The buffet was better at times, the worse a la carte in my opinion had to be "la fuente". Breakfast was bad, poor flavor and long lines waiting for a simple omelette. For lunch it never changed, so I was stuck with pasta, the most decent tasting out of all the variety. At last, I want to say I have been in many different resorts including barcelo, my favorite barcelo being Barcelo deluxe in Punta Cana/Bavaro, great service and great food!! My overall experience is very poor for Maya Beach, poor attention and support on premium level, definitely disappointed in the Barcelo chain, expected quite allot, had sent an email which wasn't even read or responded. Would I recommend, not really, many more to explore. Always stayed at premium level, and this experience makes me double think if it was worth it.

    “NOT HAPPY !!!”

    I love cancun ' but must say my experience at this hotel has changed my mind off ever coming back. The only nice thing I can say is the hotel looks amazing , (LOOKS) Ok we stayed two weeks , we had 8 days off constant rain , that was not realy a problem because yes it's hurricane season and mother nature does have her wicked ways. Bug the hotel was not equipped for this,the complex was like a giant sieve, it leaked every where, rooms , restaurant 's ,corridors reception, bars I mean every where . Water would drip in the food and pots and buckets everywhere. People where slipping and falling and was very dangerous , and staff would just shrug shoulders. The pools had leaves in and was not removed during the rest off our stay. The staff are most unhelpful and so miserable looking ,even when tipping you'd think they would smile , but instead the just stare at you waiting for your order off something flat and bland. The hotel have amenities and shops have a no cash policy , so it's put on your room number , and then your taxed on it . Not good at all and the prices are pulled out off a hat , it's realy criminal. The food was awefull , very bad under cooked and bland , I even tried the kids food and I have no idea how parents coped with this as it was worse. The reception is a joke it took nearly an hour to book out because every one was paying in dollar so they had to work the exchange rates out. And they even told our pickup driver that we had left Earley!!!!! What's that about !!!!! I can write allday about how bad my stay was. But can honestly say I won't be going back.

    “Won’t go back ..”

    This hotel really is a mixed bag , I will list pros and cons .... Pros 1.Lots of pools / splash parks 2.Plenty of sun loungers 3.Beautiful beach .. some seaweed but staff work hard to clear this . 4.Great kids club and lovely staff . 5.Lots of palm trees ... visually beautiful resort Cons 1.Resort too big 2.Food poor quality / saw flies on food often , cold bland food . Everything tastes the same . Too scared to eat fish / salad .. when I did I had an upset stomach . 3.Drinks poor quality / not top brand drinks , all taste the same and quite artificial . 4.Staff speak very little English for an international hotel . 5.Staff not helpful esp when it comes to reservation of restaurants , no flexibility if running slightly late . Not informed of restaurant closure one night we had booked. 6. All the restaurants served very similar regurgitated food and kids menu the same in every restaurant . They sacrifice quality for quantity with buffet .. copious amounts of food . 7. You won’t get served at the pool bars unless u tip big . 8. Beds not particularly comfortable with sheets like rubber back incontinence ones . 9. Lots of things cost extra such as the bowling which was a ridiculous price !! 10. Evening entertainment starts at 9.30 Pm which is too late for little ones . 11. Poorly advertised what entertainment is going on . 12. No free WiFi which is ridiculous . Had to purchase extra for the duration which was about £35 for 7 days and signal is not great . 13. Staff not particularly friendly . 14. Exploitation of animals by hotel .. Staff coming round with parrots and raccoons for endless photos . Parrots lying on their back for photos ??? 15. Dolphinarium ..very small pool for these poor animals performing shows and interactions countless times a day . 16. Really no atmosphere at all at this hotel . Would I recommend ... no Will I go back .... er ... That’s a no !

    “Love this place”

    Go to this same resort every June to celebrate our wedding anniversary love how staff members remember us from previous year. Angelo Serrato is the best. I also got 5 family members loving this place.

    “Very Nice!”

    Hotel was wonderful.not impressed with the location. Everything else was wonderful from the food to the service. Distance from the airport was much too far. The layout and decor of the hotel was nice.
