“Special assistance was given with compassion and excellent service.”

Travelling with a disabled friend we requested several special needs. They supplied us with everything we required, but one item. The room was spacious and close to the elevator. It was very clean. The food was great. You could always find something you enjoyed. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. I look forward to return to Barcelo Huatulco.

    “Nice Resort”

Nice resort in beautiful Huatulco area. Great weather, nice walking beach, ocean waves can be nasty so swimming is limited to pool. restaurants were very good and no issues getting reservations. Unfortunately getting chairs by the pool was difficult unless you were up early to put your towels on them.

“A week amongst the "Bad hombres".”

Build that wall!! It was too hot, the beverages were too cold and the water was too liquidy. Once I even had to remind our poolside waiter that we were still waiting on a drink we'd ordered, and where to even start with the sand: it's everywhere!!! The truth of the matter is that we greatly enjoyed our week at the Barcelo and were pleasantly charmed by this smaller, more intimate resort. The first thing we liked was that the drive from the airport was a mere 20 mins - something that really factors in when you're coming off a 5hr flight with a 2-year-old and 5-year-old. The buses have AC and will sell you Coronas for $2 rather than the $3 you'll pay upon exiting the terminal. Check-in was rather quick and painless, and we appreciated the face-cloths and cold beverages that were waiting for us on arrival. We found the rooms to be basic but very clean, though we would've preferred queen beds over the tight twins the four of us were forced to share. There's a fridge that gets restocked daily with water, beer, and juice, but somehow never gets quite cold enough, and our walk-in shower was spacious, though the tiling and grouting looked like they'd been applied in certain places by a blind, armless quadriplegic. TV programming is almost entirely in Spanish but is that really something people out there complain about? While the waves were intimidating and the red caution flag was out in full force almost every day of our stay, the beach itself was beautiful and visible from almost everywhere on the property. The sand is granular and does a wicked job of exfoliating those rough callouses on your tired, aching feet, and walking from one end of the beach to the other is a very enjoyable way to kill an hour each day. The pools were pretty typical - adults-only, children's waterpark and general - but we liked that they were easily accessible from both the restaurants as well as from the rooms, while also being just steps to the ocean. I brought my fishing rod to squeeze in a few casts each day and if you're someone who enjoys wetting a line shoot me a message and I'll be more than happy to pass along some advice and tips. The food was...pretty good. I'm French and my wife is Italian and so I guess we're both somewhat pickier (snobbier?) eaters than most, but overall we were pretty satisfied with both the choices and preparation of our meals, though we were served undercooked chicken from the BBQ one night, and walked out of the "Italian" (shudder) restaurant on another. Generally speaking, the buffet was your safest bet: Fresh squeezed OJ and decent coffee in the morning, along with tasty fruit and omelettes, great guacamole and burgers from the grill in the afternoon, and a daily selection of fresh fish and seafood. At the end of the day, you have to surrender to the fact that this is once again cooking for the masses, and temper your expectations accordingly. We went to two of the shows because really, how many times can one watch a poorly lip-synced rendition of "Grease", but I have to say, they were pretty damn good! The Disney musical had great costumes, featured all of the biggest hits and kept my daughter's attention the entire hour, and the Star Wars show was an LSD-inspired descent into moonwalking wookies and incestuous Luke-and-Leia themed ballet. It didn't hurt that the performers appeared to be professionally trained dancers and that both the guys and girls were easy on the eyes... The men and women who work here are some of the hardest working staff you'll encounter, and though there were a few sour apples in the bunch, the vast majority were exceedingly pleasant and welcoming. Oh, and here's a tip for you unseasoned travellers out there: Before you head to a foreign country do yourself a favour and learn a few basic phrases or words even - it'll do wonders for your stay. And just because you've paid for your vacation doesn't mean you get to forget all manners and treat the staff with disrespect or condescendingly; it's ugly behaviour and reflects poorly on your fellow countrymen. We witnessed a few examples of drunken slobs acting belligerent while pounding down their seventh Bloody-Mary of the morning, and in my mind's eye I handed off the kids to my wife before walking over to them and holding their heads underwater until the thrashing stopped and they floated peacefully away... All in all, I would recommend this resort to family and friends and would be open to returning there in the future. Hope this helped!

“Bibiana Gabriel took excellent care of us in the Lobby Bar”

Bibiana Gabriel kept all of our group in drinks, and making sure we had a fan over us working as we played cards. Thank you so much Bibiana, great meeting you. It was unfortunate that half of our group wound up sick on the same day, and lost 1 to 2 days of their vacation, but it sometimes happens in Mexico. Very stupid rule about long pants in some of their restaurants.

Another great trip to Huatulco . From Amado the bell boy remembering us from previous trips on arrival and his great help during our stay . The renos being completed since last stay was nice.Germania our maid always seemed to do the little extras all week.Celso in the Tortugasnack restaurants also remembered us .he was in Premium lounge last stay but was a great waiter. Benjamin in main buffet always seemed to go above to make our stay very good . Claudia and Pablo in premium lounge were a great help and eager to please the whole week. As with previous trips you know it's going to be hot and sunny all week wether it's November or February .
