    “Great service and views”

We spend a great week at Barcelo. We were on the top floor 12, premium level. It was worth it the only issue was a very small balcony narrow, only wide enough for a small chair to sit sideways, 11 th floor might be better. Food was good as was the service. The sunset grill and Mexican fiesta were the best. The fiesta was Wed night and the sunset grill was available 2 nights that week. We did not try the sushi resterantbas it was just sushi. Just a suggestion, maybe other option like Japanese steak house type or stir fries in that restaurant would be nice. I realize most people like sushi, but just a thought. The beach and pool was nice and clean. Decent gym. They had bicycles you could sign out great bike path out to Playa Linda about 10 km long, it is through an ecological reserve where you can see coatis, iguanas and the turtles and crocodiles by PlayaLinda. We tried to bike to zhuatinauo but a bit too hilly for us, bikes just seemed to have 2 or 3 gears. Wonderful time will return.

    “Great Vacation in Ixtapa”

The staff here is excellent. A big thank you to Sandra the front desk manager for taking care of us when we had a few issues and making sure that if we needed anything else just to call her. I can honestly say that travelling to other resorts in the past where people we were with had a few negative experiences they were not as well tended to as we were at the Barceló. The staff is always smiling and work very hard to please the guests. The resort is small and everything is easily accessible. We loved the ease of walking out the front doors, crossing the street and going shopping or to restaurants and bars. If you haven't been to Ixtapa before I would check out Franks place. Its located behind the purple building across the street. We went for pizza and to watch a hockey game and it was a lot of fun. They had a band playing on the street right out front and the service and food is great. If you want to go somewhere else the bus stops right out front and will take you right into the town of Ziuantanejo for more shopping and entertainment. Sunday nights from 5-11 they have a street festival for the locals down by the warf. There is lots of food carts, entertainment and tons of bars, restaurants and shopping. The beach at the resort is amazing, no rocks or large dips in the sand. You can walk a long way in the water along the shore line with no worries of tripping over anything you cant see. We loved getting a spot by one of the pools that faced the ocean. You had the best of both worlds but in saying that we also had to be up at 5 am just to make sure we got the seats we wanted. There are not enough umbrellas so if you are like us and need to have shade you have to get up early to get your towels out on the seats you want. That part I didn't like as I am on vacation so I didn't really want to have to set an alarm just to make sure I was not baking in the sun all day. The one morning I couldn't sleep so I went down at 4 am to get chairs and figured I would definitely be the first to do so. To my surprise there were already quite a few chairs that had towels out! Weekends get full when locals come to visit so you definitely have to be up early to stake a claim on seats during that time. We went for breakfast at 830 one Sunday morning and it didn't look like there was a chair to be had anywhere. I was particularly glad I had the towels out early that day.The weekdays were at bit more relaxed, however the one day we slept in until 8am and the only umbrella we found was over by the Jacuzzi pool where we were splashed by kids jumping in the pool constantly. We didn't make that mistake again! Of all the resorts we have stayed at I have to say this is the only one that we never had issues with broken lounge chairs at the beach or the pool. Everywhere else we constantly get ones that sag horribly in the middle or are broken so you can sit up in them. You constantly have to play musical chairs to get a good one to sit in.These are very well maintained at that barcelo . The room was good. The bed was firm but not rock hard as we have had in other resorts and there was lots of pillows on the bed that were good foam chipped ones not flat hard ones you usually get elsewhere. We had a street view and if I was going to complain the only thing wrong was that if you went back to your room during the nightly entertainment shows ( as we did on our first night there) it is really loud. It only goes on for an hour or so though so it wasn't that bad but if you weren't feeling well and wanted to sleep this would definitely cause issue for some. The food was ok, they did have a variety of different things on the buffet but some nights we just found it lacking in flavor. We did enjoy the Spanish ala carte as well as the sushi. We didn't find out until our last week that they actually have another ala carte on Monday and Tuesday nights in the buffet restaurant that over looks the ocean. I'm not sure why they don't tell you about it when you check in as all any of us were told was they just had the two. We found out by word of mouth from other guests and you have to book this one through the concierge as well. We had seen people in there the week prior but assumed it was private functions on both nights. Anyway they serve steaks and seafood mainly and its worth checking out. Supper at sunset would be amazing. The main pool bars don't open till 11am at one and 12 at the other and they close at 6 or 630. They do have beach and pool wait service that I think started at noon and goes to about 430 pm which was really great. They have a lobby bar that opens when the others close but you cant go and order your own drinks there. Sometimes the wait was really long to get your order taken. We sat out there a few times and then left after a half hour of waiting as it was too busy and not enough staff to take the drink orders. On those nights we had to go out to have drinks which you shouldn't be forced to do at an all inclusive. The sports bar doesn't open until 8 pm and rarely had anyone in it when we were there so we never stayed long as it was boring. I'm told it gets busy around 11 but we were usually in our room by then. All in all if you want a resort that is close to everything but is more laid back this would be a great place to go.

    “Will be back!”

We stayed at the hotel from Jan 26- Feb 9. We took a taxi from the airport to hotel because I'm in a wheelchair and can not take the bus. We arrived at the hotel and check in went smoothly. We stayed in the premium rooms. 10th floor beautiful view. Durning our stay we really don't have any complaints. The room was spacious and had no troubles moving around. Elevators worked great and didn't have to wait long for them. Breakfast and lunch were fantastic supper was hit and miss. We have travelled to other places where the buffets are much larger and this was a change for us. We ate at the steak house twice and Don Quijotes twice food was very good. Steak house could use some good steak knives as the ones they use do not cut! With 3 of us being in a room and only 2 bottles of water really didn't work. We talked with Coral and she made sure we had extra water in our room every day. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful and very well kept. The staff does an amazing job in the up keep. The pools are beautiful and kept very clean. Pool service was good. You did have to get up early to get chairs but well worth it. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. We would come back from the markets and there was always someone watching for us to return and come down and take over for my mom pushing me. We had 14 days of sunshine. No clouds, winds or rain. Perfect place. Would like to thank Coral,Behmar,Neftali,Rene and Laura your help was most appreciated. Also to the many others that took time to talk or help. This place for us is paradise and can not wait to return. Also no bugs!!!

“Our Familys 2nd trip to Ixtapa Barcelo.”

Pros 6 of our family went to Barceló from Jan 15 - 22 We booked Premium so the check in was a breeze. We got our room on the 9th floor with a nice view of the ocean. The room was cleaned very nice every day. We also had a towel animal every day. We had lunch every day at the pool restaurant. Cons We went to the Premium Club for a drink and after 2 days they didn't have Captain Morgan Rum and were short of ice. They promised more but it never came. The wait staff was scarce a few times. We went to the Sanca Bar and they had it there. We ordered another round and they were out. We had no choice but to go across the street and buy our own bottle. WHY DO WE NEED THE PREMIUM CLUB??
