“Apartments not worth the extra money”

First of all.... the garden and pool areas are immaculate and beautiful. The food was varied and we didn't go hungry, often cold but there are microwaves to heat up. I have to be honest... the help yourself station was of a better quality than the restaurant/buffet. I would also recommend booking the hotel side if you are all inclusive... the apartments are basic and dated... not worth the extra money and they are certainly not suites as they would have you believe. I do have to commend the hotel for providing cake, chocolates and Cava as a birthday gift, really thoughtful. I would stay here again but not in the "suites"

    “Great holiday”

We spent 5 nights here over February half term, family of four with two girls of ten and fourteen. We had never been all inclusive before but would definitely go again. The food was far better than our expectations, everything you could possibly want. Yes, food did run out but it was always replaced with fresh, even towards the end of service, we were lucky with the weather and mostly ate outside. The pools were great, always managed to get a sun bed for us all no matter what time of day. Snacks, drinks etc all good. Location was ok, we got a taxi to the beach or Maspalomas for €4ish as we weren't in time for the free bus, very close to the Yumbo centre. We didn't spend much time in the room, facilities and kids beds were fine, me and hub were on a sofa bed which was a bit on the small side but very comfortable. Our main grumble would be that a couple of days before we left our kids had their towels and a pair of flip flops stolen while they were at the pool. We had paid €10 deposit for each towel so informed the reception. It was implied that we were responsible as we had not been looking after them, surely the fact that we rented towels implies we would be going in the pool? The receptionist spoke to a manager who agreed we could have two more towels but this would not be the case if they were stolen again! Despite this we would most definitely return to the Margaritas as overall it was a great holiday.

    “Wonderful staff Occidental Margaritas”

We have just come back home in Italy from our holidays in the Canarian Islands and my memories are still full with the scents of this beautiful Island. The hotel is rather an average one, but the real treasure of this hotel is its wonderful and professional staff. A big Thank you to all of them, especially to our dear waitress SABRINA, always kind, careful and one step forward with the needs of our three year-old child Nicole. Many thanks also to CRISTIAN, always smiley and eager to fulfill our requests in the restaurant (our daughter Nicole fell in love with him ;-) ) We also warmly greet PEDRO in the reception, kind and very professional, ready to give us several tips about Maspalomas and the Island. I couldn't say less about the animation stuff who delightes us with their shows in the evening, the wonderful NAIRA and ISABEL in the miniclub, MARIO, the Cupido on San Valentine's night :-) . Our congratulations go also to the master chef and his team, who spoiled us with a rich range of courses of the local and international cuisine. Good work to all of you and hope to see you again on our next holiday.

    “February vacation. ”

Fantastic hotel, caters for everyone! Free wifi. spa across the road for essentials should you need any water, beer, wine or nibbles! And a hole on the wall for extra spends if you run out of cash!! This is a mass male gay populated area of Gran Canaria; the Yumbo centre, we (my husband and I) didn't feel welcomed. Cita was a better scene to visit although many swingers hang out in Cita and La Sandia. Most of the shopping centres have hidden bars and clubs. Each approximately €4 from the hotel in a taxi. A small area of Irish bars is practically on the door step. We went half board, the food was fantastic, if we ate out we doubt there would have been any difference! Most days were phenomenal. The chef went above and beyond to provide my requirements. Head manager of the kitchen offered and paid for my husband and I a coffee following our meal. "Lovely guy!" My husbands birthday came- we had cards out on display and the following morning a bottle of carva and chocolates were delivered to the room from the hotel. Hotel is separated to suit individual needs- family pool and entertainment on the ground floor including gym, spa and sauna facilities. On the top floor; jacuzzi with seated area and private nudist area. (No bar facilities but able to take your own drinks in a plastic container) No wifi on roof top! Room- enough hangers, we requested a top up of the bath gel which was refilled on the same day. Hairdryer, safe use at a charge of €14 for one week, refrigerator in room but no tea and coffee facilities. Sand dunes approximately 20 minute walk from the hotel- in a taxi it is €4 ask for hotel Riu near Cita. (Be aware) you can find a private spot but willy wankers will seek you out. Say no and be assertive; they go away! Beach is 5minute walk from the hotel, Both nudist and bikini bathing along the beach and sand dunes! If I had to score this hotel it would be a 4.5 out of 5.... Great disabled facilities should you need wheelchair access!
