    “2 visits in 6 weeks”

    This is our 2nd visit in 6 weeks first visit was with our 3 year old daughter and second visit was just me and the partner , Rooms: spotless modern (hairdryer in bathroom) miniature shampoos and conditions , shower gels , toothbrush x shaving stuff ✅ Restaurant: Breakfast lunch Dinner : plenty of food lots of stations Meat, vegetarian , salads , breads , cold food , hot food , puddings / desserts , drinks ,chefs on hand cooking fresh to order ✅ Pool Bar : all inclusive guests : can pour as much drinks as they want for them selfs , plenty to choose from, spirits beer soft drinks slush puppies water , or if you want the bar staff to help they are there on hand , Food at the pool : Snacks for Everyone cold fridges with pasta sandwiches yoghurts fruit : hot plate station with pizzas burgers chips / and then other foods like veg dishes meat dishes , toasties Ice creams Gym / fitness facilities : there is a small little fitness centre cardio machines dumbbells cable machines , Water machine and towels provided There is also a cross fit centre at the top end the hotel The pool we always stay at is the pool where the entertainment is, lots of sunbed, lots of entertainment in the day Reception team ; friendly kind chatty always able to help with any queries Animaticion Team , in July the team were so good with my 3 year old Daughter she loved Barcy and who ever was dressed up in barcy always came and said hello to her and hugged her , the little Disco for the kids was great playing singing face paints, playing with her at the children’s play bit where there’s slide and swings for little Children, the team always said hello to her ❣ The animation Team around the pool water aerobics was great to watch , the Team Angel , Lucas , Judit are great full of energy all day so happy and friendly, Great team of people keeping the guests entertained 💃🕺🏽 I love this hotel as I fell pregnant here in July 2015 it will always be a place I love, and I have been going here for over 10 years

    “Perfect stay”

    I enjoyed the hotel very much. It was in a perfect location, close to shops and the yumbo centre. Plenty of sunbeds to go around. Amazing food. Would stay here again. The night time was great and very entertaining.

    “Lovely holiday”

    The hotel has been on our list since staying nearby on two recent trips to the area. The initial impression really was excellent. The hotel interior was a stately and opulent one and the reception staff superb. It had been a long day and we were taken straight to the restaurant for an evening meal. It was a pleasant change to see tablecloths on the tables and a good number of staff, as well as a number of separate cooking stations and this enhanced the luxury feel. Food was excellent. Our room was probably one of the classiest we have stayed in, if not particularly large, and the sherry and fruit was a lovely touch. The good feelings continued the next morning at breakfast and again it was a nice change to have a breakfast buffet with fresh coffee served by waiters. There were no screaming children either! The pool area is also one of our favourites, with plenty of sunbeds and various areas to spend the day in. Again because there weren't any children about, it was a peaceful place to be. There is a section where you can have uninterrupted views of the dunes, which other hotels in the area don't have. We ate in the Kristal twice and the food really was lovely. The service was also very good and it was nice to have wines chosen for us, which added to the experience. We would thoroughly recommend anyone to book a table. Remember, for half/full board guests there is no charge - only for drinks. The peace, calm, excellent service and good food carried on for the whole week and we were sorry to go. There is only one minor point and that is that the hotel does need a bit of upgrading in terms of appearance. It's a traditional-looking luxury hotel in many ways, but up against the competition is perhaps a little dated. We understand that it is on the list for upgrade in 2020/21 and as long as Riu don't take the character away it will be one that we would definitely return to. It was very nice to see the manager at various times of the day and evening during the week and she was available for questions as well as obviously making sure the high standards were maintained. Overall, loved it.

    “Great place to stay”

    This is our first time here at Gran Canaria and it is a lovely place. The hotel was clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was very good. I have seen some reviews mention poor food that was cold and tasteless. Well I totally disagree as we found quite the opposite. Plenty of choice and really good quality food presented very well. You have to keep in mind the numbers being catered for. The hotel itself is in great condition and the staff were wery friendly, helpful and attentive. Room service (the cleaning of the room and changing of the sheets happend every day so this was perfect. One Warning. If you are offended by the sight of men kissing and cuddling. Then Gran Canaria IS NOT FOR YOU. There are a great number of guy men. In fact they outnumber "normal couples ".

    “Old, expensive, noisy, mildewy, bad food”

    We (2 adults, 3 kids) booked 1 week half board including the new year gala dinner. This was the first time we really got bad food in the 4* hotel restaurant in Spain. Be careful: the hotel photos on the Barcelo site are much much more attractive than what you encounter when you get inside. The rooms were even worse than the food: old, used, with the smell of humidity. The bath was mildewy. The view from the balcony was also depressive. We simply had a bad luck: we relied on Barcelo brand and 4* hotel level without having checked throughly where we were going. The location is in the middle of the town with very intensive traffic from all sides, but we knew it. The hotel staff tried their best. It is really surprising to see the relatively high ranking of this hotel. I cannot find any reason to come back.

    This is our first time here at Gran Canaria and it is a lovely place. The hotel was clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was very good.
