“5 Star luxury facilities except for some minor but key areas in service at the buffet restaurant.”

Certainly will stay at this hotel again. Swimming pools and tropical gardens are in a nut shell...paradise. Sunbeds always plenty available and staff in general professional and very welcoming. Quality and variety of food excellent; especially the fresh fish including "carabirenos" one of my favourite shellfish. Ham and other "Ibericos" of the finest quality. Only negative is that some food in the Italian and then Mexican buffet was cold. Finally most of the staff make you feel at home from day one!

“Lovely, lovely place but please sort out your drink pricing”

We had a wonderful 6 nights in this special hideaway just off an amazing beach. Sunshine, breeezes, spotless hotel, wonderful pools, fabulous food, lovely service, an ever smiling and professional brigade of staff. Everything exceeded expectations expectations except for the silly prices charged for drinks. No complimentary water in the hotel rooms- you can get a glass of water from the bottle in reception outside mealtimes- this felt a bit silly given the room rate. €17 for a gin and tonic?!!! €24 for a very poor bottle of wine ( this was the cheapest on the wine list). This is Spain for goodness sake, where the red wines are fabulous. Why so expensive and such poor quality? We ended up going to the local supermarket and buying our own drinks. Judging by the number of empty beer cans in the waste bins by the pool, we were not alone. We are happy to pay a little over the odds in a beautiful hotel but to be honest we felt that these prices were a rip off. A shame because everything else was really, really good. This was our last stay on a tour around Andalusia so we did know prices.

“Excellent hotel in a great location.”

We visited for six nights the second week of September. This is a large hotel but it is well spread out so that certainly for us there were never problems with too many other guests. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed, the staff are friendly and attentive, there are five pools which were sparkling and the grounds are immaculate. Breakfast is impressive and caters for almost every taste in abundance. The big plus to us was walking along the fabulous beach (8km long, litter free and wide) and eating at the great beach restaurants. If I had to be picky I was surprised that bathrobes were not provided and also that Roberto, the barman at the Sunset bar, was so slow that we left three evenings due to long waits for cocktails. The bar is popular and Laradana (?) was great at taking the orders but there should have been another barman or someone with a bit more animation. That aside an extremely pleasant experience.

    “Perfect”

I must admit that my former interaction with Barcelo was with the travel agency and it was not positive. This has been different. The installations, new and well maintained, deserve the five stars on the main entrance. Actually, we can find a similar place showing six stars. However, the really good part is the people there. Many little details aiming to make an easier life -water for the trip, delayed checkout because the hotel was not full... - are beyond the number of stars and make a difference. Going with children, the mini club -or Barcyclub as they call it- must be mentioned. Children enjoy while adults are free and they have first class people: Funny games and an important detail: The eyes of the monitors don't miss the children while playing. A good experience.

    “Difficult to find fault”

I need to find out how the staff at this establishment are kept so happy. A more warm hospital charming smiling group of staff I have never experienced. Everyone without exception that I met were delightful, helpful and smiled. The staff at this establishment made a major contribution to the overall feeling of well being at this excellently run hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, we had a 'side sea view' which afforded excellent views of the sea and beach. The food exceeded all expectations in the buffet with so much choice and quantity, regularly refreshed to keep it all looking appetising. After a week there I will need a week of non eating to recapture my waistline! One little gripe concerns the cocktails in the lovely Sunset Bar, they are poor and not as good as at the beach bar below the hotel. A quick training course and a good recipes will soon put that right.
