From Oviedo, we head towards the Galician coast to discover some of the most stunning spots in the north of the peninsula. Among them is the spectacular Playa de las Catedrales, a natural setting that, at low tide, transforms into a cathedral open to the sky. You can walk down to the sand and walk between stone arches sculpted by the sea, in a breathtaking and silent setting.
Depending on the tide, the beach will welcome us in the morning or bid us farewell at dusk. Another of the places included is Isla Pancha, a picture-postcard island off the coast, with one of the most fascinating panoramas in the north. From its viewpoint—even more impressive than the lighthouse, now closed—you’ll contemplate the estuary that embraces Figueras and Castropol, like a moving painting where the sea and land calmly merge. Ribadeo welcomes us with its blend of history, architecture, and local life. We’ll explore its streets on a guided tour that includes the San Roque neighborhood, the Torre de los Moreno, the historic center, the port, the Casa do Patín, and the Convent of Santa Clara. Afterward, you’ll enjoy free time to explore its flavors, shops, and charming streets at your own pace. If you wish, you can take the opportunity to try the famous pulpo a feira (octopus) or savor some of the area’s most typical seafood dishes. And somewhere along the way, Tapia de Casariego will appear, serene and open to the sea. Stroll through its port, look out from the Os Cañóis viewpoint, or simply sit and contemplate the landscape.
