We’ll begin in the municipality of Cudillero, from where we’ll walk along the rugged Cantabrian coast, discovering its capes, lighthouses, and beaches step by step.
After a simple walk, we’ll descend to the hidden Playa del Silencio or Castañeras beach. This shell-shaped beach is approximately 500 meters long, and its sand is made up of pebbles of different sizes and colors. It’s not very crowded and boasts stunning colors from both the rocks and the water.
Further along, we’ll reach Cabo Vidio, where we can see the highest cliffs on the Asturian coast. The force exerted by the icy Cantabrian Sea on its capes and inlets will leave you breathless.
Similarly, our walk will pass through the town of Cudillero, located in a natural amphitheater, before ending our journey on the Avilés coast, part of the Northern Trail. In short, on this excursion along the western coast of Asturias, you’re sure to enjoy the strong breeze, the contrasts, and the power of nature.
Excursion to Cudillero and the Asturian Western Coast: Along the Asturian coastline, we still have a narrow strip where tourists are scarce and wilderness abounds. The Protected Landscape of the Asturian Western Coast is a 35-km-long natural area punctuated by violent cliffs where lighthouses and watchtowers peer out to contemplate the onslaught of the northern sea, which splashes its pristine coves and impossible formations and safeguards the traditions of its seafaring peoples.
