Description

Following the Route of the Reconquest, we will reach the Sanctuary of Covadonga, the site of the famous battle of Don Pelayo. Here, we will have time to visit the Holy Cave, a natural spring that runs through the entire Covadonga mountain and miraculously gave rise to this religious site. You will have free time to rest, visit the Basilica, and we will point out the best places to relax.

The Lakes of Covadonga, Enol and Ercina, form one of the most famous and most visited areas within the Picos de Europa National Park. The lakes are rich in history, allowing us to learn about Gamoneu cheese, traditional pasture use, and the rugged landscapes shaped by ice.

The Lakes of Covadonga lie within the Picos de Europa National Park. From here, you can admire peaks rising over 2,500 meters, a unique and special place that conveys the wild nature of this land. We will drive along the road used by the Vuelta a España, enjoying breathtaking scenery shaped over centuries by nature and traditional grazing.

Before returning to Oviedo, we will reach Cangas de Onís via the Camino to Covadonga Route, an itinerary steeped in the history of returning emigrants (Indianos), devotion, and the passion of Asturians coming back to their homeland. We will have time for lunch and to admire the Sella River and its pools, the Roman Bridge of Cangas de Onís, and to discover the meaning of the word “canga.”
