We will begin in the municipality of Cudillero, from where we will explore the Cantabrian cliffed coast, discovering its capes, lighthouses, and beaches step by step.
After a gentle walk, we will descend to the hidden Playa del Silencio, also known as Castañeras. This shell-shaped beach is approximately 500 meters long, with pebbles of various sizes and colors forming its sand. It is relatively uncrowded and features stunning rock and water colors that will leave you amazed.
Further along our route, we will reach Cabo Vidio, where we can admire the tallest cliffs along the Asturian coast. The power of the icy Cantabrian Sea crashing against its headlands and coves is truly awe-inspiring.
We will also pass through the village of Cudillero, set in a natural amphitheater, before finishing our tour along the coast of Avilés, part of the Senda Norte. In short, this excursion along the western Asturian coast promises fresh sea breezes, striking contrasts, and the raw power of nature.
Excursion to Cudillero and the Western Asturian Coast:
Along Asturias’ coastline, there is still a narrow strip where tourists are scarce and wilderness abounds. The Protected Landscape of the Western Asturian Coast stretches for 35 km, carved by dramatic cliffs where lighthouses and watchtowers overlook the relentless northern sea, which splashes its pristine coves and impossible rock formations, while preserving the traditions of its fishing villages.
