Discover Calderón Hondo, one of the best-preserved volcanic craters in Fuerteventura, on a hiking route that combines landscape, geology and history. The activity lasts approximately 5 hours and includes transfers from Caleta de Fuste and Corralejo.
Formed around 100,000 years ago, this eruption is relatively recent within the island’s 23-million-year geological history. The excursion begins along an easy-access cobbled path leading up to 278 metres above sea level, where a viewpoint sits on the edge of the crater. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views into the volcano’s interior and, on clear days, as far as Lanzarote.
The route continues towards the area of Montaña Colorada, completing an approximate 7-kilometre walk through a landscape of significant geological and scenic interest. The surroundings also preserve pre-Hispanic archaeological remains, including circular dry-stone structures once used as dwellings and livestock enclosures.
After the hike, the tour continues with a transfer to visit an organic aloe vera farm, where you will learn about the properties and cultivation process of this emblematic plant of the island.
An opportunity to explore Fuerteventura’s volcanic scenery on foot, accompanied by a local mountain guide.
