Description
Explore the Doñana National Park, one of Europe’s most important natural areas, on a full-day 4x4 excursion from Seville led by a specialised guide. Untamed landscapes, Andalusian tradition and remarkable scenery come together in this memorable off-road experience.
The day begins with pick-up from your accommodation in central Seville and transfer by 4x4 vehicle towards the marshlands. The first stop is Puebla del Río, one of the gateways to Doñana, home to the Dehesa de Abajo nature reserve, which hosts the largest colony of white storks in Europe. From this privileged spot, you can observe birds in the wild and take in the vast open marshes, one of the continent’s most significant wetlands, providing refuge each year to more than 300 different species.
We then continue to the village of El Rocío, renowned for its pilgrimage and for preserving the essence of traditional Andalusia, with sandy streets and a strong equestrian character. We will visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of El Rocío, the focal point of one of Spain’s most celebrated religious gatherings.
Returning to the natural surroundings, we enter the riverside woodland near the Palacio del Acebrón for a circular walking route, learning to identify animal tracks and native plant species. After a break for lunch (not included) and some rest, we explore the longest unspoilt beach in Spain, with its shifting dunes and distinctive ecosystems. In summer, if conditions allow, there will be time for a refreshing swim. At sunset, we begin the return journey through wooded areas of the park, an ideal moment to try to spot large mammals such as deer, foxes or wild boar, and with luck, the emblematic Iberian lynx.
A comprehensive experience that offers first-hand insight into why Doñana is regarded as one of the most valuable and biodiverse natural areas in Europe, essential for species conservation and the ecological balance of the continent.
