    “Mixed Review”

    We stayed at this hotel last week for 7 days. Overall our experience was mixed but there were more positives than negatives. Pros: Small resort: This place only has about 9 buildings and 200 rooms so everything is within walking distance which was really nice for an all inclusive, which typically tend to be larger. Beach: This resort is right on the water and there is a jetty you can swim in. Pool: Pool is large, plenty of room to swim and also always a game of pool volleyball going on. Excursions- The woman who sits by the pool who books excursions for the guests is fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and you could tell how proud of her country she is. We thoroughly enjoyed each excursion we booked through her. The recommendations were spot on. The restaurant- The food was EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend eating here. Best chicken stuffed with spinach I've ever had. The pool bar- The staff works really hard and are always nice. The snacks they serve were a hit with my kids and hit the spot when we returned from excursions. Sarah at the Spa- Massage and facial were fantastic. Shows- the staff/dancers work their tails off between all the day time activities and the nightly shows. They really change things up from night to night and it didn't go unnoticed. Rooms- Were nice but the bathrooms are in serious need of updating. Negatives Check in- when we checked in the receptionist tried to charge me an additional $400 for airport transfers I'd already paid for when I booked. If I hadn't have had the email confirmation, I would have had to pay 2x. Additionally, as part of our booking we were given 2 dinners at the sit down restaurant and $120 resort credit, neither of which I was told about. It's a good thing I looked at the email again, otherwise I wouldn't have used either. Room Fridge- I've never stayed in an all inclusive that didn't have alcohol in the fridge. 1 Coke, I water, 1 seltzer for 4 people. I had to ask multiple times for more, on day 3 I got 2 of each. Food- There is not a ton of variety. The buffet is pretty much the same food for breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner only changes slightly. Good food, but no variety. Also, breakfast begins at 7, most excursions pick up prior to that so no breakfast for you. The female bartender working the lobby bar- Her customer service skills are lacking. She isn't at all friendly. This being our first stop after we checked in, not the warm welcome we had expected, and it didn't improve the entire time we were there. Pool chairs- People put stuff on the chairs the night before. This should not be allowed. If you aren't there in the morning to get them, you shouldn't be able to claim them the night before. The SPA reception- I had a resort credit so I booked a massage and facial (Sarah was fantastic). When I booked I told them I wanted to use my credit, I booked what I thought was the option I could use. When I was done, I went to leave thinking it was covered and was told I owed $75 american. When I asked why, they told me I didn't choose a service that was covered with the resort credit. I explained that when I booked I informed the woman that's what I wanted to do. I was told that the person didn't understand what I was asking (she spoke Spanish primarily and I speak English) so do to the misunderstanding I would have to pay. Well, I did pay which is why I had the credit in the first place but apparently that meant nothing so do to the language barrier, I'm out $75. If I had known this going in, I wouldn't have minded but didn't appreciate being told that due to the woman not understanding, I would be responsible. Would I recommend this resort, only to families with small children. Would I come back, no. Overall for the money, it's ok but with all of the all inclusives I've stayed in, it wasn't my favorite.

    “Ok for what you pay”

    OK hotel for holiday makers (couples and families). Typical Barceló hotel with average quality of food and poor variety. Rooms are clean but a refurbishment is needed. Facilities and location is good.

    “Mixed ”

    The title of my review is the best way to describe my feelings towards this hotel. There are many things I loved and truly enjoyed, and quite a few that I did not. First, I will say that I have posted several reviews on trip advisor, 95% which have been positive. So I'm not the type to complain about minimal things like many do. I also absolutely loved being in Costa Rica and spending time with the local people, and in their culture. I will also add that we checked in on the Friday of Easter weekend when the hotel was going to be extremely crowded. If given the chance to plan this portion of the trip again, I might consider staying at a different hotel, even one off the beach, and relying on the many public beaches in Tamarindo. However, the direct beach access is hard to pass up. So again, I am "mixed" in my thinking. Cons: lack of security on the beach - even though the hotel claims "private beach access," it does nothing to stop the many local residents from walking through the "private areas" and using the hotels chairs and showers. While many people not staying at the hotel just walked through to get to the public beach area, there were also many that did not. Even though chairs were scarce during the crowded weekend times, the hotel security guards on the beach did nothing to monitor it. Crowds - even though the holiday weekends are naturally crowded, the hotel did not seem prepared to accommodate the additional people. Lines at the bars were long, the snacks frequently ran out at the pool, and there was trash and garbage everywhere. There were multiple cots being rolled into rooms, which one could only assume was to accommodate several additional people beyond the rooms' intended capacities. I would suggest asking whether the hotel is at capacity before booking. Because when it is, the hotel is not equipped to handle it. Wifi - this is an additional cost and only works in the hotel lobby. Several hotel guests complained about the services not being available in rooms, many of which are quite a walk through the resort. Other additional costs - the only store located on the resort charges obscene amounts of money for basic items like sunscreen. $65 for two bottles of sunscreen and Dramamine. Come prepared with your own or walk a short distance to one of the nearby stores instead. General Cleanliness - usually this is not something that bothers me, but after coming from a 2 star hotel in La Fortuna that was absolutely spotless, it was hard to see the amount of garbage on the beach and around the pool, as well as in the shared resort bathrooms. Pros: Beach access - the beach where the hotel sits is clearly a hit among the local residents and especially the surfers. Many afternoons, the tide would bring fantastic waves and beautiful scenery. Staff - generally speaking, the staff was friendly and hard working, especially the maids responsible for our room. They did their best during the crowded weekend days. Sunset - the view of the sunset on the beach is absolutely breathtaking and worth the crowd that gathers to see it. All Inclusive Option - in searching for hotels that offer all inclusive options, this was the least expensive option that offered direct beach access. For us, that was most important. The food was not phenomenal but it was good enough. And It helped to know that food and drinks were going to be included.

    Старый отель, когда-то бывший 5*, сейчас мимикрирует под 4*. Пляжа как такового нет, камни, территория небольшая и убирается плохо. Памперсы от детишек заботливо свернутые под ножкой лежака - обычное дело. Унилая анимация, делать абсолютно нечего.

    “Ужасно”

    Ужасный, старый отель с отвратительным пляжем! Единственный плюс all inclusive! На 4 звезды совсем не тянет- скорее слабая 3...ремонт здесь делали очевидно очень давно! В- общем впечатление об отеле не позитивное!
