“January is a Great time to Visit!”

My husband & I regularly vacation at Barcelo Aruba in the spring and fall. This year, we decided to add a January trip. We were thrilled at the beautiful weather; it was sunny and warm every day, and the sea was refreshing--not too cool or warm. I always enjoy seeing Jenny at the front desk, and Sandra at the royal level. They are both so helpful answering questions and making the vacation perfect. Having been at Barcelo Aruba many times, I would highly recommend all of the restaurants. The sushi at the Asian restaurant is fresh & delicious. We always enjoy talking with the hostess, Myrna; June provides excellent service there as well. The Mexican restaurant has some of the best ceviche I have ever eaten, and the serving size is generous. The grouper at the seafood restaurant is fresh-caught and it is cooked to perfection. At the Italian restaurant, I like to finish my dinner with a cappuccino; my favorite is called Romancing the View. Reno is a great server there. I like to reserve outside seating for the Italian & Seafood restaurants. The ocean view is spectacular, especially at sunset. There is nightly entertainment, both musical and a live show. We especially like Lenny Lake. His singing is very popular with the visitors! If you need a cab, the bellmen will assist you. Daniel has been so helpful to us, we think of him as a friend. In fact, we always tell people that we are treated by the staff as if we are friends. Barcelo Aruba is more than a resort--the friendly staff will make you want to come back again!

    “Not a happy place.”

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful beach and pool however, having to get up at 5:00 am to save chairs on the beach and pool was ridiculous. The food left a lot to be desired. Never hot. The Japanese restaurant was the only meal I enjoyed.

Dear LindaH6755, Thank you very much for the time you spent to share your personal impressions of your stay at our Barceló Aruba Hotel. We always welcome feedback, as it allows us to continually improve the experience we create for our guests. Our staff welcomes each guest with the Barceló spirit and strives to assist in any possible way to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay, it is indeed very rewarding to read that you have appreciated their genuine helpfulness throughout your holidays among us. According to the hotel policy reserving palapas is not allowed. We do our best to ensure the following of this standard, especially during high occupancy when this happens more often and we apologize if exceptionally during your stay we weren’t able to have a total control on this matter. All trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Kind regards, Barceló Aruba Team

“Lock Anything of value in Safe!!!!!!! Anytime you are not in room!!!!!!”

Lock up all valuables in safe!!!!!!!! Had my sunglasses taken from room while at dinner. Only person in the room was the person to fill the mini bar. According to security (6 days later) nobody went in room. They told me I came back at 10:10pm and that I didn’t return at 10:30 or 11 as I said. They said no one had entered room. Kind of odd that fridge got filled while at dinner. Wasn’t filled at 6:30 but when we got back it was filled, but they said nobody was in room. Great people and great resort but make sure you lock anything up you do not want taken

“Palapa and pool side seating policy stinks”

The hotel was very nice and well kept and the beach was beautiful. The problem with the Barcelo is that unless you get up between 3:30 and 4:30 am there is a good chance you will not have anywhere to sit Even if you get up early and put your towels on a hut at the beach or the pool there is a good chance someone will move them When we went to get a drink at the pool we came back to someone trying to move our things we saw multiple incidents involving security over chairs. The policy of the barcelo is that huts and chairs are not to be held, but this policy is not enforced Hotel staff accept money and will remove your belongings for the highest bidder. We watched this happen. It not much a vacation when you have to get up so early to get a seat and then worry weather it will be taken anyway For this reason we will not return until there is a better system in place

Dear glm2008, We first would like to thank you for choosing our Barceló Aruba hotel for your holidays and for sharing your comments on your experience among us. We are delighted to see that you really enjoyed the beauty of our installations and pool. It is our intention to offer pleasing and clean accommodations so that our guests can still enjoy their vacation memories once they are back home. We regret reading that apparently we failed to ensure that our hotel policy, forbidding the reservation of palapas, was respected during your visit. Your mentioning of this in your review did not go unnoticed we will be enforcing the communication reminding guests that reservation of palapas without immediate use is forbidden in our hotel. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Kind regards, Barceló Aruba Team

    “Barcelo Aruba”

The good mixed with the bad. The beach is beautiful, no seating available unless you go out at 4am Pool area is great, drinks are pumped out quickly. No seating in shade unless you go out at 5am All the restaurants were very good, especially the italian and teppanyaki. Best Japanese food ever. Everything is close and accessible. I read the reviews about the pool seating but took the advice with a grain of salt. When we first arrived an evening security guard said he would reserve us chairs. He put down towels at 10pm. The next morning we went to the chairs at 9am and got i to a big argument with someone who said he saved these chairs at 4am. It got to be s hot discussion and nearly came to blows. I wouldn’t mind, i teach karate for a living. Finally we we offered chairs by a couple who was leaving. I got up at 5am every day for chairs. Not my idea of a good vacation. We met couples who have come for years and they said that is the price to pay for reserved seats. SHAME on you Barcelo for procreating this. I have been to many resorts, including other barcelo properties and never had this problem. Uncharacteristic for a well known brand. Yes, good and bad.
