“Lock Anything of value in Safe!!!!!!! Anytime you are not in room!!!!!!”

Lock up all valuables in safe!!!!!!!! Had my sunglasses taken from room while at dinner. Only person in the room was the person to fill the mini bar. According to security (6 days later) nobody went in room. They told me I came back at 10:10pm and that I didn’t return at 10:30 or 11 as I said. They said no one had entered room. Kind of odd that fridge got filled while at dinner. Wasn’t filled at 6:30 but when we got back it was filled, but they said nobody was in room. Great people and great resort but make sure you lock anything up you do not want taken

“Palapa and pool side seating policy stinks”

The hotel was very nice and well kept and the beach was beautiful. The problem with the Barcelo is that unless you get up between 3:30 and 4:30 am there is a good chance you will not have anywhere to sit Even if you get up early and put your towels on a hut at the beach or the pool there is a good chance someone will move them When we went to get a drink at the pool we came back to someone trying to move our things we saw multiple incidents involving security over chairs. The policy of the barcelo is that huts and chairs are not to be held, but this policy is not enforced Hotel staff accept money and will remove your belongings for the highest bidder. We watched this happen. It not much a vacation when you have to get up so early to get a seat and then worry weather it will be taken anyway For this reason we will not return until there is a better system in place

    “Barcelo Aruba”

The good mixed with the bad. The beach is beautiful, no seating available unless you go out at 4am Pool area is great, drinks are pumped out quickly. No seating in shade unless you go out at 5am All the restaurants were very good, especially the italian and teppanyaki. Best Japanese food ever. Everything is close and accessible. I read the reviews about the pool seating but took the advice with a grain of salt. When we first arrived an evening security guard said he would reserve us chairs. He put down towels at 10pm. The next morning we went to the chairs at 9am and got i to a big argument with someone who said he saved these chairs at 4am. It got to be s hot discussion and nearly came to blows. I wouldn’t mind, i teach karate for a living. Finally we we offered chairs by a couple who was leaving. I got up at 5am every day for chairs. Not my idea of a good vacation. We met couples who have come for years and they said that is the price to pay for reserved seats. SHAME on you Barcelo for procreating this. I have been to many resorts, including other barcelo properties and never had this problem. Uncharacteristic for a well known brand. Yes, good and bad.

    “Winter warm up vacation”

Left frigid NYC to the warm arms of the Barcelo in Aruba. Awesome team there to cater to our wants and needs. Jessica Maduro was key in getting us in the Royal Club with a wonderful room overlooking the pool and ocean and was instrumental in making this trip happen. Thank you Veronica for taking care of our meals and schedule. On the beach, we tip our hats to Jermaine who made sure our spot on the beach was there for us and also Victor, who's smile and friendly manner kept us well served. Kudos to these very special people who made sure our vacation was comfortable without any issues.

    “Day Pass”

    1. Many of the palalpas were reserved for "Royal level" hotel guests. The palapas not reserved for hotel guests were first come first serve. Even though we got to the hotel early, no palapas were available for us. 2. We were refused service at the beach bar. Told it was only for "Royal level" hotel guests. 3. We received no service from the beach wait staff. There was ample wait staff getting drinks for hotel guests. However, we were branded as day passers by way of a pink arm band. The wait staff avoided us and other day passers like the plague. 4. Although the hotel has half a dozen restaurants, we were told we only had access to one - Beach Club Restaurant. The food was inetable. The burgers we got for lunch were still frozen and uncooked middle. 5. The only men's restroom near the beach was up by the pool. However, the day we were there it was undergoing repairs/closed. This was our first and likely only time to have the opportunity to visit Aruba. Needless to say, our visit was totally ruined by this excursion.
