    “Rude staff and complaints not dealt with efficiently”

    We stayed here as part of a premium tour group and this was the only hotel in Morocco that did not meet our expectations. When we called to report about the toilet flush not working, one particular reception staff was very rude and even refused to allow us to speak to the manager or anyone else citing that no one could speak English but him and as such we have to listen to him. Not being able to solve the issue, we had to ask for a room change (this was not offered – we asked for this) and even the 2nd room had issues with the bathroom – the shower did not drain and water flooded the bedroom. We spent more than 3 hours getting settled into our room, not being able to go out and missing an appointment to meet with our friends at the Bar. As a last resort, we approached the reception only to be met by a senior staff at the reception (who spoke good English) and was told that the General Manager will see us at the bar. At this point we were yet to hear an apology for the discomfort we had been facing just to get settled in after a long trip. Finally a Mr. Plumed, who we believe is the GM came after sometime to again hear our grievances and by this time, our Tour Director shared her concern. He said he will look into the issue and that was all, nothing else was said and he left. Since my husband and I were in the bar and had a drink each, and as professional hoteliers ourselves we would expect a common courtesy that Mr. Plumed would have at least taken up the drinks bill which hardly came to €20….but instead a fruit basket (some of the fruits were not fresh) and a bottle of water were placed in our room (no accompanying card)! As hoteliers we go to lengths to ensure our guests’ comfort are of utmost importance and in doing so sometimes small gestures such as a drinks bill would have been waived ….a common courtesy of any hotelier to do so. The next morning our Tour Director advised us to fill in the Guest Comment Form (directly for the attention of Mr. Plumed) to share again our displeasure on how our complaints were handled. It is now more than 3 weeks and we have not heard from Mr. Plumed. We would not recommend this hotel in Fes and have also shared as such in our Group Tour Survey form.

    “Good but can be improved”

    Hotel looks amazing, especially from the outside. The interior is beautiful too, but unfortunately, the cleaning staff does not do an excellent job maintaining the cleanliness. They also kept leaving the windows open, allowing insects to come in the room. Otherwise, coupled with good location (near to the mall and the old medina), the hotel is great and will definitely stay again.

    “Comfortable Stay With Some Limitations”

    The Barcelo Medina Hotel in Fes had a nice ambiance in the lobby area upon arrival. The staff working in the hotel area was friendly and competent. We had a comfortable room and bed, especially important with a short stay. Breakfast was a disappointment by comparison with other Moroccan hotels. Lunch was surprisingly not very tasty and took a very long time to arrive by servers who were not as customer oriented as we had become accustomed in Morocco. When we were gathering in the lobby area, the physically attractive furnishings turned out to be quite uncomfortable. Would compare other hotels in the area before staying and would hesitate before dining here again.

    “Excellent hotel”

    This modern hotel is situated in the new part of Fes.It is very close to the old medina. The staff is profesinal and very kind.Rooms'even those who look on the avenue are calm. The breakfast is rich.Don't miss the dinner restaurant fantastic !

    “Lots of tour groups..busloads”

    Stayed for two nights and this appears to be a tour bus hotel, which is fine except when everyone wants to get to their room and they only have two very small elevators that can't accommodate the crowds. The lobby is open and modern but as a result very loud. Don't understand the point of metal detectors for people to walk through when entering the building constantly going off and nothing is done. Not really security so why have them at all? Was unable to book a treatment at the spa due to it being full up. Enjoyed the Lobby Bar, Had to try the Morocco nachos (regardless of price) were given a plate of doritos, with slices of processed cheese and bottle guacamole..worthy of a picture and a good laugh!
