I don’t write reviews often but, I am very happy to write one for the Barcelo Karmina. To be quick and to the point the service and staff were amazing very friendly and helpful, one man stood out to our family for his exceptional service and hard work.. Daniel Hernandez. When your visiting this establishment make sure you meet and say hi to Daniel he is very friendly and helpful and extremely hard working, it was a pleasure to meet him and hope he is still there when we return next. People like Daniel should be made into staff trainers due to his large smile and great work ethic and helpfulness to the guests. Overall the resort was very clean, the food was excellent. The rooms had two TVs and the balcony and bathroom were huge! I recommend this place to anyone we had a great time and look forward to returning.

    “A wonderful vacation”

A 7 day vacation that went in a flash, we had a wonderul time. From the beautiful pools, the attentive staff, and the gorgeous plant life there is much at the Karmima to love. Here are a few of my observations. Pros: The staff were attentive and fantasic. Big shout outs to Daniel at the pools, Aide at the lobby bar, Juan Jose in the Ala Cartes, Anita in housekeeping, and those at the Concierge desk. All amazing and very hard workers. The ala cartes were very good with the Italian being our favorite. Unfortunately we did not get all of our meal at Kyoto (what we did get was excellent) but this was not due to the very hard working staff but rather a very large party of guests that monopolized the time of all the servers and kitchen. The buffets were also always spot on. The bars were very good however sometimes there can be a bit of a language barrier. Brush up on your Spanish first, we found it helpful! The grounds and the pools were gorgeous and we loved the wide variety of plant life. Also, the bathrooms were always clean (always a relief). The falcons were a special highlight. Also the vendors with their booths were great and beyond friendly. Cons: The cons were few and small, yet deserve some attention. While the large bathrooms are great (love the separate vanities) the slatted doors are dated and give little privacy. The events going into the night can be very loud. A Dior event happening during our stay kept us awake quite late several nights, with the last night being far too loud (specifically the DJ, the live band controlled their volume well). Given the cost of an all inclusive it would be worth it to consider making wifi and even limited room service included without extra fees. We've received this at other resorts without being a 'higher tier' guest. Consider the Fiesta Americana in Puerto Vallarta as an example. Overall a solid 4/5 if not a bit higher.

This is our favorite vacation spot so far. The room was amazing. So much space, Huge bathroom, and a large balcony. One thing that stands out above any of the other resorts that we have stayed at is the staff. They are great. Out daughter spent most of her time at the kids club. Zulema was the lady in charge there. So many activities for the kids. Pool side service was amazing. Daniel Hernandez is a king among man. As friendly as they come and just an amazing individual. Arath, Elizabeth and Ozmar did a great job running the activities around the pool and on the beach volleyball court. And don't forget the crazy Mexican games. We spent two weeks here and I could have spent two more. Kids loved it,we loved it. I hope we can go back some day.

Dear emeight; Thank you for making our Barceló Karmina your choice hotel on this occasion, this positive feedback keeps us motivated to encounter the compliance of our demanding quality standards. We are really pleased to hear what a wonderful time your daughter had thanks to the dedication and care of Zulema. We believe that the real holiday feeling goes hand in hand with good fun and entertaining sport and leisure activities, it is, therefore, a great reward to hear that the hold family took some unforgettable memories of their stay among us. Once more we thank you for choosing our hotel for your holiday and very much look forward to having the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Best regards, Guest Experience Manager.

“Enjoyed it so much over Christmas we went back for Easter!”

We bought a last minute package through Sunwing to spend 7 nights at Barcelo Karmina over Christmas. It was great to leave the Calgary deep-freeze behind for a week and we loved it so much we booked again last minute for another week over Spring Break. We have traveled extensively as a couple before kids and have continued to with our kids now 7 and 5. Highlights of this resort both times were the Barcy Club (kids club) and especially Zulema Romero the head counsellor (she remembered our kids from one trip to the next and ran over to give them big hugs when we came back for the second trip) and the wonderful serving staff throughout the resort... a special commendation for Daniel Hernandez who always had a big smile on his face while serving drinks to the guests around the kids pool area. Barcelo would do well to use these two as trainers and models for their staff across all their resorts. The first trip we had a room on level 6 (the top floor) of the tower on the east of the resort facing the entrance side of the hotel. It was HUGE with a separate sitting room that could be shut off from the bedroom area. The bathroom had a massive tub and big walk-in shower. It also had a lovely balcony overlooking the golf course. It was always kept clean and well-stocked. We always had hot water for bathing / showering / washing, lots of towels, fresh bed linens and great housekeeping. During our second stay we were on the second level on the west side of the resort close to where the main buffet restaurant is located. This was even better as it had a HUGE patio (not just a balcony) and was very close to the kids pool, kids club and main restaurant. The sitting area and bedroom area were not separate in this room configuration but the room and bathroom were again very spacious, well stocked and well tended. We do wonder why with all the space they have chosen double beds instead of queens but its a minor thing really. The grounds are spectacularly manicured and the pool areas are beautiful. A note for beach lovers... first this is the Pacific not the Caribbean coast so it's not white powdered sand and turquoise waters, second the resort's beach is essentially a small lagoon with a small beach. The lagoon itself has many reefs and rocks making snorkelling pretty good when there's visibility but it's not idea for swimming. You can, however, walk down some steps through locked gate on the east of the resort to a big, beautiful beach that runs for miles south along the coast. The Las Hadas Golf Course is repairing it's golf cart bridge across the lagoon and so on our second stay there was a black tarp stretched along the breakwater at the top of the lagoon to separate the construction area from the beach from a view perspective. The food was plentiful and well prepared in the buffets so there was always something to eat. We found the deserts lacked a bit of variety but I was still able to cram several servings into my cakehole at each visit so it didn't deter me for trying ;) The beach grill was a bit of a disappointment both times but you could always get a burger or a dog or some fruit when needed so it did the trick. We only ate at one of the a la carte restaurants during both trips - that being the Mexican restaurant under the large palapa overlooking the bay - the food and service were outstanding and it boasts the best view of anywhere in the resort. We loved both our stays at this property and would go back in a heartbeat. A note as other have mentioned - there is very little at the airport... you can get some snacks before security and there are vending machines only one you go through. Make sure you have whatever you want before leaving the resort for the airport at the end of your stay.

    “Great Hotel for Kids”

Just got home from staying at the Barcelo Karmina Hotel, a really beautiful venue on Manzanillo Bay. However, you can’t access the public beaches (for security purposes) and there is a really ugly black blanket disrupting the view of the beach from the hotel. The staff is very friendly (except for the guy checking in) and anytime we had a problem (e.g. dead remote) someone came immediately to fix it. There were a lot of families there with children, and the hotel had a variety of things for them to do. There was a whirlpool, which I guess is a Jacuzzi without heat. There were many older men there with much younger women, maybe that’s a thing there. For our reservation, all meals were provided at an enormous buffet. Which as far as buffets go was okay. There are two other restaurants on the property but didn’t check them out. Finally, the view from our window was great, even if Manzanillo Bay is littered with cargo ships.
