    “Barcelo Maya Palace vacation 2018”

My wife and I spent the last week of February and beginning of March at the Barcelo Maya Palace and had a wonderful week. We went for our anniversary and the staff did a great job making it a memorable time. Tips - After getting off your plane and getting your luggage. Don't let yourself be stopped by any of the agencies outside the airport terminal. They will waste your time by pitching sales. Drive from Airport: We prepaid for our shuttle bus transportation (both ways). It was close to an hour drive from the Cancun airport to the hotel (making a couple stops along the way at other hotels). Check-in: We did our pre-check in before boarding our flight from the states. The process took less than 30 minutes and there was no complication. We did book directly with the hotel - if that makes any different. WiFi: We received free WiFi for two connections with our room. I believe this offer is valid for Barcelo Club members (Free to join through company's website). Resorts: We mainly stayed at the Palace but did make our rounds to the other Barcelo resorts in the area. Besides some cups that's been littered by tourists, the resorts were always clean and presentable. It's amazing to have such a large area to explore and at the same time be all-inclusive. We enjoyed long walks on the beach. Buffets: The buffets were fine, there were enough selections to allow the guests to change it up between meals. The fresh grilling of steak, chicken and pork chops were great. The buffets do special different dinner themes for those that don't want to do dinner reservations. If I had to rate it, I would say it's a 4 out of 5 stars. Restaurants dinner reservation was not much of a problem for us. All our reservations were between 6:30pm and 7:30pm with the exception for the Japanese Hibachi restaurant (9:30pm) which we skipped out on. The food were great at the Palace restaurants and we are more on the hard to please eaters. We also ate at the Italian restaurant at the Mall and the Santa Fe Steak House and thought that they were okay. Beach: Great view with plenty of chairs to choose from during our visit. Loved the water and the beautiful scenes. There were plenty of palm trees for those in search of shades. Sorry no drink service at the beach, but you can get your own from the bar by the pool. Room: We got a ground level floor that was two buildings from the beach. This might be a little farther for those with small kids, but it was very quiet, clean and the king bed comfortable. We are happy to report that the mattress didn't make any noise to lay down on as reported by some. There definitely was a slight mildew smell, but we are talking about air conditioning units here. We just opened the sliding glass door to air it out and all is well. The outdoor patio had enough room to seat 6 people comfortably and it came with a table and two chairs. Shows: The events were entertaining. As far as the Micheal Jackson show, we would strongly recommend just letting the performer actually do the singing, he sounded good when he did sing. No one can sing like MJ, so let's not do a disservice to the performer or MJ :) Last Comment: Here's a shout out to Maria Del Carmen that works at the Buffet. She was nice and courteous and always had a smile. This isn't to say the rest of the crew were less, but she just stood out to us and made our time there special. We enjoyed our time and will definitely be back in the near future.

    “Overall ok”

I hope this review helps We booked through our travel agent on westjet vacations Note: There are a few different levels of service: We did all inclusive, drinks included at the palace side as this has the kids water park/slides. This is a huge resort, and the service level we paid allowed us to go everywhere but we stayed to the one side for the kids area. *overall clean and friendly to family *check-in- takes a very long time. Note-We did not leave our credit card on file at checkin. *rooms- clean, nice, plenty of room for three small kids and two adults, ( we had a crib in the room as well and there was still plenty of room to move) *food- (Buffets) had lots a variety, I liked most of the food, (fresh and well presented) some of the foods the kids were ok with taste wise. They motif ate what they knew. (Restaurants) these you have to boom in advance if you do not want the buffet meals. -Italian restaurant was not worth going to. They try so hard to be classy they overdue it and it fails miserably. Food was either undercooked or over cooked. Did not understand our order. - all other restaurants were fairly good and worth taking the family. —-There is NO food allowed from the buffets to the pools so make sure you get your fill before going to the pool areas! It’s a LONG walk. *stores We brought all the kids floating devices but came to find they have almost all infant, young, teen floating devices for sale at reasonable prices! Short list of items in a large store are: arm floaters, baby floats with canopies, adult float loungers: goggles, sunscreen, medicines, hats, water shoes, (decent one too) balls, sand toys and buckets Ect....... *drinks These are hard to come by on short notice. The bars or places to get a good drink are good walking distance from any location unless you set up you poolside seating area by the bar. There is pool side serves but they had only one working each area and it took a long time to get a drink. *staff Friendly, nice, clean, well dressed. *ocean, beach Clean, hard compact sand(not good for sandcastles but great for strollers)beach has some rocks, and some seaweed. I think it was great for families, but so good it you want to drink heavily and party. There were good, and just ok things overall, we would come back with the kids.

    “Never recommend it”

I have been to Mexico 4 times and this was the worst stay I have had, would never recommend, and would never go back. Waste of money and time off work. Royal DeCameron had better service, friendlier staff, cleaned the rooms daily, just less variety of food and activities

“Outstanding! Large Resort without the crowds”

The Maya Palace is an exclusive hotel within an extremely large (5 hotels) resort. You do not feel crowded and the service is out of this world. The staff is wonderful and the activities staff during the day made the trips. Hats off to Diego, Julio, Carlos, Bryan, Arely, and Morory these individuals made our trip.
