Barceló Maya Palace reviewed by profalex on . Great property, but a long way from airport This is place is gorgeous and HUGE. It wasn't clear when I made the reservation there were five separate hotels in the complex. Pay attention to the dress code in the alacarte restaurants; I didn't... Rating: 5

    “Great family hotel”

Lots of fun and activities to do, never a dull moment and this hotel is very clean. The staff are excellent. We loved the activities by the pool, Diego was terrific. The wet bar was handy, we stayed at the Palace.

“Cenote close and plenty of fish.”

Very good vacations. A lot to do at the resort. Service was excellent everywhere, food was good. Great value for what is included at this resort . Beach and pools were excellent , very impressed by the pool area we were never overcrowded or had to search for loungers. I will be looking to return.

    “Couples trip”

Great Trip! Loved the variety and quality of the foods. The service was impeccable. For the money you spend you get a taste of what it feels like to be royalty! Loved all alcohol selection at the palace. The beach was so nice. Lots of fish in the water! Lots of snorkeling. Lots of activities for kids and adults alike.

    “Vacation!!”

Had the best time here!! Fernando Baltazar, Lucio Chi, and David Diaz were the VERY BEST!! We felt like family and will be back! Amazing service, food, and scenery. The pools were spacious, beach clean and beautiful. Restaurants top notch and the buffets had multiple excellent choices. Loved everything about this place

“Seven year of excellent vacations at the Palace.”

My wife and I have been going to the Palace for seven years, sometimes with our grown daughters and their spouses. The experience is consistently excellent over these seven years. The rooms are large and well maintained and if a rare problem occurs, maintenance staff arrived promptly and fix the issue. One of the few things that annoy us on arrival at the Palace is the amount of time it can take to get your luggage delivered to your room from the lobby. Even if you say you are going to your room right away and need it quickly it can be 20 minutes before it shows up after you get to your room, as happened on our latest trip. Food at the three al a carte restaurants is very good with the french and the caribbean restaurants being our favorites. All the waiters are eager to please you and work very hard to make the dinning experience enjoyable. There are two buffet restaurants at which we have breakfast and lunch. Again, the staff does a great job of serving you quickly with a friendly and pleasant manner. Special mention goes to Martha Estrada who is the hardest working of all of them and does so with a great smile and a strong determination to please you. Sometimes food at the breakfast buffets can be on the cold side but you can always order your own omlette which is made as you wait. That is my only criticism of the buffet restaurants, the variety and quality of the food is great. I scuba and snorkel a lot. Off the beach at the Palace you will find turtles eating sea grass, the occasional ray and if you venture out the bhouy line you will see some small coral heads with an abundance of colorfull fish and very occasionally a small moray eel! Scuba dive sites are plentiful at the hotel with Dressel Divers running the dive center. The coral at the local dive site is diverse and colorful as are the fish which range from the usual grunts to box fish and stick fish, southern rays, the occasional barracuda and nurse shark and a large moray eel named Molley. One of the reasons we keep coming back to the Palace is the variety of places you can go outside the hotel complex. There are several theme parks like Xcaret and Xel Ha within 20 minutes driving time from the hotel. Theme park buses can take you there from the hotel lobby if you don't rent a car. Archaeological sites tike Tulum, Coba, and Ek Bakam can be visited in four hours and Chichen Iza will take the better part of 8 hours.

A discount* or promotional code (also appears as “promo code”) is a combination of letters and/or numbers that gives a discount on the normal rate. If you have a discount code, enter it when booking and you will receive a discount on your booking. Once you have entered this code, the prices shown in step 1 of the booking process will already include the relevant discount.
