    “Great hotel but ... location?”

Traveling companion found a great deal on Priceline. She thought it was never the Center -- the old area where all the tourist locations are. Nope. It's a 10-12 euro cab ride away. No other places near it. We ended up adding 36-euros per day for our breakfasts (great buffet but pricey) and some sandwich dinners at the bar that ran 40 euros or so. Wonderful five-star hotel, if you can get a price deal, but I'd rather have been much closer to Catredal and Alcazar.

    “Excellent hotel”

The hotel is located close to the AquaParc, but offers a free shuttle to the city center(at least during the "Feria"). Very easy to be reached from the highway. We book a suite and we were very happy of our choice: we had a living and an outside terrace with trees and flowers, table chairs and longchairs. The hotel has all you need: pool, restaurants, bars, sport spaces, SPA. In my opinion, "Barcelo" is a much better choice than to stay in downtown, because you can go there whenever you want, having a beautiful place with everything in your hand as your residence. A special mention for the staff: excellent in everything.

“Nice. But not worth the advertised price!”

I was in Seville for business for a week. The organisation that put me up at the Barceló thankfully paid only a heavily discounted rate, by comparison with the rate advertised in the room (something in the order of 17%), and on that basis, I think it was good value for money. I arrived rather late after a rather long day of flying in via Barcelona. At check-in, all went smoothly, up to the moment when the receptionist pointed out to me where the lift was for my room. The hotel consists of three circular buildings, and I happened to be in building 2. The receptionist pointed the way to the lift for my building, as the crow flies (if there are any crows flying around the Barceló...). This just happens *not* to be the way you have to walk if you want to get to that lift with a suitcase! So there was a bit of asking around and being sent back and forth, until I finally made it to my room. The room was absolutely fine. The Barceló is a perfectly good hotel but shows to some extent the time it was built (I guess it was put up for the 1992 exposition, along with other nearby pieces of architecture of the same spirit). It has been updated, but somehow feels big and corporate and slightly out of place. Everything is clean and nice (OK, the marble in the bathroom shows some signs of having been there for a while -- but that is not something you'd want to rip out on a regular basis....). But it also sort of says that all the other rooms in the hotel feel the same and all the other rooms in all the other Barceló hotels. Just not quite the five stars. The rooms all go out to the bit circular space inside, with the restaurant etc. This space is very resonant, so that all the rooms will hear if people are having a good time in the restaurant. Normally, there is just a moderate din, plus clatter of cutlery and plates, but I wonder how things are if a party in the restaurant goes on to yet another round of wine.... Provisions included a Nespresso machine for making espresso coffee. This is very widespread in Spain, and so having such a machine in the hotel room was a really nice feature to have. Too bad the machine came with just a single capsule of "real" coffee plus another capsule of decaf... So strictly once cup per day that wakes you up in the morning. (I wonder how this is handled for double-occupancy rooms...) The wifi is a bit variable. Every now and then, it is quite quick and you can use it for work (I did not try watching moveies....). But then again, every now and then it is glacially slow and even simple things like writing TripAdvisor reviews are simply impossible. The location is good -- within a reasonable walking distance to some of the main streets with tapas places. And there is a taxi rank right outside the hotel's main entrance.

Dear guest, Firstly I would like to thank you for all the polite comments you shared in TripAdvisor following your recent visit to our Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento hotel. Your comments will help us to keep offering the best services to our guests. You are absolutely right, the hotel was built for the Expo 92, and for some time we are updating all our facilities as much as possible. I hope, in any case, you enjoyed your stay with us. As well I hope you enjoyed the free-of-charge Nespresso capsules we offer in all the rooms. As we explain in the brochure, two coffee capsules are a welcome gift and in case you need extra capsules you only have to make contact with the room service department to acquire them at the price mentioned in the handout. Thank you once again for making us your choice hotel and for your constructive critics, I certainly look forward to serving you again and to have the opportunity to exceed you expectations in a not too distant future. “Across the water from the city center but easy walk”

Nice clean hotel with decent pool which we barely used bc in April it wasn't warm enough and we were there to sightsee. Had to move rooms because someone had clearly SMOKED in the room, and management was happy to move us. Breakfast was good- had everything you would want including an omelet station and chocolate fountain which my kids enjoyed. Rooms were clean and walking to city center was easy and safe.
