The TF-28 road, also known as the “Old Road”, is one of the most popular cycling routes in Tenerife. This historic road crosses the island’s midlands, connecting traditional villages and offering a scenic ride full of curves, elevation changes and impressive landscapes.
The experience begins in the town of Güímar, where the route starts with a climb towards the Don Martín viewpoint. From this point you will enjoy panoramic views over the valley and the characteristic volcanic scenery of the area.
The ride then continues south through typical Canarian towns such as Fasnia, Arico and Granadilla. Along the way you will encounter varied terrain with continuous climbs and descents that challenge your endurance while cycling through rural landscapes and open coastal views.
The route takes place between 400 and 700 metres above sea level, accumulating significant elevation gain throughout the ride. Once you reach Granadilla, the most demanding part of the route will be behind you and you can enjoy an exciting 20-kilometre descent towards Playa de las Américas.
The route covers approximately 75 km, with an elevation gain of around 1,100 metres and an estimated duration of about 4 hours, making it an excellent option for cyclists looking for a challenging ride while discovering the diverse landscapes of southern Tenerife.
