Description
Nice walk that runs through trails and woods with views of the Station. Discover the history and strategic past of Canfranc.
Simple route adapted to any age, and physical condition, that runs around the station. Our tour departs from the center of Canfranc-Estación, is private for you and your loved ones and lasts approximately 2 hours.
We will walk along the Paseo de los Melancoli and the nearby forest and the route runs through beautiful landscapes formed by vegetation typical of the place, with trees such as beech, pine and acacia. With the help of our expert local guide, we will interpret the history, anecdotes, legends and peculiarities of our environment, designed and created around the magnificent Canfranc International Station.
We will visit the defensive “P” Line and its bunkers.
You will learn about the complex civil and forestry construction works to make the area where the Station was to be located safe and habitable. You will discover the fascinating history of Canfranc in relation to Europe and the Second World War
And finally, we will tell you about the functions and the reason why of the “mysterious” Canfranc Underground Laboratory (we cannot visit its interior, but we can reach its access tunnel).
