Palm Grove of Europe. The Huerto del Cura, declared in 1943 National Artistic Garden, has the highest concentration of palm trees in Europe: according to estimates, there would be between 200,000 and 300,000 copies. But the most outstanding jewel due to its rarity is the Imperial Palm: a unique specimen of date palm with seven arms born from the same trunk that feeds them, which for its beauty and symmetry is an exceptional case among the palms. Elche has the largest number of quality centers for the manufacture of footwear in Spain.

Tour

1. Departure from Cartagena with a panoramic view of the same We will start by taking a panoramic tour of Cartagena on the way to Elche.

2. Arrival in Elche
   Then, with the same bus, we will take a panoramic walk along the coast and city. The guide will give you the corresponding explanations of this Mediterranean city.

3. Visit Palmeral Botanical Garden “Huerto del Cura”
   Enjoy a walk along the winding paths between the ponds and the abundant plants, shrubs, trees and cacti in the charming palm grove ""Huerto del Cura"". The focal point of the garden is the magnificent ""Imperial Palm"" of eight logs. During your visit, enjoy specially prepared tastings of local products including dates, fig bread and date liquor, while watching a demonstration of palm pruning.

4. Departure to the center and visit Basilica Sta. Maria
   In the old town, you can visit the Basilica of Santa Maria, a baroque blue-domed church, restored in the 17th century, where the annual representation of passion is celebrated, the ’Mystery of Elche’. This is the only work that the Vatican allows to take place inside a church, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

5. Departure to Shoe Factory
   Elche is the main Spanish city of shoe manufacturers. Here are some famous shoe factories. We will visit one of them with shopping possibilities at factory prices.

6. Free time Municipal Park and snack or food
   Then, free time to stroll through its famous Municipal Park, with beautiful specimens of palm trees, with good restaurants to eat or snack and in a beautiful setting of gardens and ponds. (Note: lunch is not included, the guides will give you information about it).
