Excursion to Bocairent

330

A journey into medieval magic.

Just an hour from Valencia, Bocairent invites you to discover a town steeped in medieval tradition, steeped in history, legends, and charming corners. If you’re wondering what to see in Bocairent, this guided tour is your answer: a journey through mountain landscapes, mysterious caves, and cobblestone streets that seem frozen in time.

At the agreed-upon time, we will pick you up at the agreed-upon location in Valencia to begin this adventure to one of the most beautiful villages in inland Valencia.

During the journey, our official guide will reveal interesting facts and legends about Bocairent, a place that seems to emerge from the rock with its stepped houses and its silhouette overlooking the valley.

Ready to explore one of the Valencian Community’s best-kept treasures?

We’ll begin the tour with the magical Bocairent route, a walk between nature and history that will take us to the famous window caves carved into the rock. From this point, we’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the mountainous surroundings.

Next, you can choose between two unique experiences:

The Caves of the Moors

If you choose to visit the Caves of the Moors, you’ll enter a fascinating labyrinth of interconnected chambers and galleries, carved into the face of a cliff.

Their origin remains a mystery: no one knows for sure who built them or for what purpose. An experience for the more adventurous.

The Colomer Caves

If you prefer a more peaceful option, we’ll explore the Colomer Caves, a group of easily accessible artificial cavities that also hold a surprising history.

Perfect for families or those who want to enjoy the surroundings without exerting themselves, these caves offer an intimate glimpse into Bocairent’s past.

Whichever you choose, adventure is guaranteed.

After visiting the caves, we’ll explore Bocairent’s historic center, one of the most beautiful in the province of Valencia.

Its cobblestone streets, passageways, and squares look like something out of a medieval tale. We’ll visit its old town, the bullring carved into the rock (unique in Spain), and the parish church, which rises majestically above the town with its tower visible for miles.

Before returning, you’ll have free time to enjoy the local cuisine. We recommend trying traditional dishes such as gazpacho montañés (mountain gazpacho) or olleta bocairentina (bocairent stew), perfect for ending the day with a savory twist.

At the end of the visit, we’ll head back to Valencia with our hearts full of history and the feeling of having discovered a magical town carved into the rock.
