    “Casual Family Attraction”

    This comfortable, decent sized resort, has all the basic amenities needed for a great holiday. We purchased the Premium Level and definitely found it worthwhile. We had an upgraded room, upgraded liquor, access to restaurants for those who like reservations, and many discounts and benefits that went along with it. The beach on Tangolunda Bay is easy to walk on and very scenic. The waves and currents are pretty strong so be sure to hang on to children when they go in the ocean. The water is warm and there are water activities such as kayaking, hobie cats for sailing, seadoos, and of course the hotdog ride. We met up with family and friends and found it to be a good medium priced location that provided great weather every day, good food at the two buffet locations, a user friendly beach, kiddie pool with water slides and fun spots, adult only pools, as well as good food, and lots of kid related places and activities. We are not early risers and we were able to find decent locations on loungers when we did head down to the pool and/or beach. The lobby bar was a great place for us to meet on a regular basis and get a drink. There are a lot of kids so I would not recommend this place to those looking for a high end, quiet, honeymoon type of vacation. The service was excellent as all staff were eager to help and did their best to accommodate your needs. Pros: the beach, the weather, free wifi in the larger sized rooms (with Premium Package), comfy balconies, kiddie pools, great service, easy to get around for size, beautiful views, good value Cons: distance away from downtown, lots of kids, average restaurants, showers run hot and cold, Hints: Take a ride into La Crucecita, good pizza at La Crema, cheaper prices for souveniers, cheap taxis,

    “What Happened to the Barcelo?”

    This is a tough review to write. We returned to the Barcelo Huatulco this year for our third visit and splurged on Premium for the first time. Barcelo hotels, and the Barcelo Huatulco in particular, have been our go-to choice for a high quality holiday at a reasonable price. We have recommended the Barcelo Huatulco to many friends for hot weather, great food, and excellent staff. That said, I honestly don’t know if we will be back. The hotel has deteriorated significantly since our last visit two years ago. First, the a la cartes. The new system for non-premium guests is ridiculous. Our friends lined up every morning for over an hour and almost never got a table. We used to have to line up, but could book for the entire week. Even as premium guests, only late dining times (8:30 or 9:30) were available most days. Strangely, the restaurants were usually nearly entirely empty. Turns out, they weren’t worth the trouble other than the Mexican, which had excellent food and service. The Italian was cold, pre-made food served by indifferent staff who seemed to only want to hurry us through our meal. The Seafood was over-cooked and drowning in salty sauces. Our server, while pleasant, forgot about us for about 45 minutes so we sat with dirty plates and empty water glasses. We haven’t bothered with the Japanese at this point. The buffets were largely good for breakfast and lunch. The service at both buffets was very good. The variety at the buffets is less than in previous years and things like bacon and guacamole and Oaxacan cheese were hard to find. The concern I had about the buffets was that the food temperatures seemed to be problematic. Many dishes that should have been either hot or cold were room temperature, a breeding ground for food-related illness. Staff were never seen checking temperatures as they often are elsewhere and a shortage of serving utensils made cross-contamination a risk as well. And food-related illness was a problem. We have never been remotely sick at the Barcelo. Several of us were so sick this time we couldn’t leave the room for a number of days. We missed excursions and events we had pre-paid for, as well as valued time to enjoy a holiday we work hard to be able to take. We usually like to go walk the beach or visit La Crucecita but that has been impossible this trip due to illness. We were not alone. We met many guests who were suffering with gastroenteritis. This morning, as I’m writing this, we’re both sick despite staying out of the sun and drinking almost no alcohol yesterday. We’re worried we won’t be able to go on our pre-paid tour tonight. And the cleanliness standards didn’t help curtail the spread of illness. Bar glasses were frequently dirty with residue from previous drinks, lipstick, etc. on them. The poolside and lobby bathrooms were also often in need of cleaning. Children, including those in diapers, were frequently in the adult pool, especially on the weekend, and staff turned a blind eye to it. Outdoor tables were usually sticky and even tables in the buffet were just dusted off with a napkin instead of being cleaned properly between guests. Drink standards slipped too. Despite paying for premium, the only place we could really get premium drinks was in the lounge. Requesting Baileys, better tequila or wine was usually met with indifference or refusal from the bar and wait staff elsewhere. I don’t blame them - they are very understaffed at peak times. Poolside drink service was excellent though with a shout out to Alvaro who made our trip. Weirdly, our friends were also refused Baileys in the premium lounge last night. Apparently there is a limit on how much they can serve each day and they had reached it. So if other guests have consumed the two bottles the lounge is permitted to open each day, we aren’t allowed to have any at all (even though they have more). That was actually the final straw for me in deciding whether to write this review or to contact management privately with my concerns. Finally, the lounger game is completely out of control. We had heard that on previous stats but never had trouble getting a lounger at 7:30 or so when we got up. Not so this time. We had to set an alarm for 5:30 to get loungers in the shade and even then most were “reserved”. Many guests seem to have multiple loungers in the shade and the sun at the pool and the beach and rarely used any of them. Some hotels we’ve stayed will manage this and will even remove guests belongings or hotel towels after a chair has been vacant for several hours or not used at all. Not the Barcelo. Unlimited towels per guest are nice, but it makes it easy to “reserve” a lot of chairs. More shaded loungers would help the situation immensely. Sunny spots seemed to come available throughout the day while shaded ones were always “reserved”. There were some good things on our stay too - as mentioned the Mexican a la carte and poolside drink service were great. The spa services from Lucia and Brenda were lovely. The grounds and pool were clean. Oyuki did a great job with our room each day and the minibar was stocked with all the water we needed. As I said, it’s hard to write a bad review for a hotel we really enjoyed in the past and have highly recommended to many friends. But we didn’t have a good experience this year. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will return and that breaks my heart. We loved this hotel. We will need to find a new go-to place for a great week away in the sun.

    “Huatulco”

    Бухты Huatulco одно из красивейших и приятнейших мест для отдыха в Мексике. Отель расположен в глубине бухты защищённой со стороны океана островом, поэтому на пляже волны там практически нет. Золотой песок пляжа - одна из фишек этого места (редкость для тихоокеанского побережья Мексики).

    “Прекрасный отель, обслуживание на самом высоком уровне!”

    Это один из лучших отелей в России, в которых мне приходилось останавливаться. Все начинается с заселения, ресепшн очень вежливый, необыкновенно корректный и заботливый, предлагают оформить карту членства в клубе Хаятт, красивый холл, легкая музыка, приглушенный свет. На этаже также чувствуется премиальный уровень отеля - лифт, коридоры, отделка дверей, все на высешм уровне. Далее, сам номер оборудован всем необходимым, в моем номере была king-size кровать, окна в пол, роскошный вид на город. В номере все очень новое, красивое, есть и гладильная доска, и утюг, и фен, и все необходимые для ухода за одеждой и обувью. Прекрасная косметика в ванной, все гигиенические принадлежности, халат, тапочки и пр. также есть. В номере оборудование работало исправно, было очень чисто. Воспользовалась услугами Room Service, не очень хорошо себя чувствовала, поэтому заказала на ужин еду из меню завтрака в номер. Все привезли быстро, еда была вкусная, сразу видно, что готовили специально для меня и повара отеля. Еще делала пару обращений в Guest Service, хочу отметить очень быструю помощь по всем вопросам. Интернет в номере работал быстро и хорошо, проблем с работой с почтой или онлайн-ресурсами не было. Также была на завтраке и обеде в ресторане отеля, претензий нет, еда вкусная, обслуживание хорошее. Спасибо команде отеля за чудесное пребывание!

    “Прекрасный отдых!”

    Были в этом отеле с 7 по15 апреля 2015. Прекрасная погода, замечательный пляж, вода отличная. Отель небольшой, поэтому все близко и под рукой. Буфет очень хороший. Из вечерних ресторанов больше всех понравился ресторан испанской кухни "Дон Кихот", но и итальянский (морепродукты) и мексиканский тоже хорошие. Сервис на высоте. Номер вместительный, есть балкон, откуда прекрасный вид на океан. Из экскурсий самая лучшая,на мой взгляд, на водопады. Интернет в отеле платный, но если выйти из отеля, то напротив итальянское кафе, в котором интернет бесплатный. Буквально, 50 метров от отеля. Вообще, Уатулько самое безопасное место в Мексике. Думаем сюда еще раз приехать в будущем.
