    “Stayed Dec 8-15”

    Arrived Dec 8 in the afternoon. Caught in the throng of people at the main check in and I looked for where the check in for the Royal Level was but didnt see a sign. I sort of butted in and asked where the check in was for the Royal Level and was immediately given service and someone took us to the check in building for Royal Level. Had to walk as both carts were out but not a big deal. The check in is near the back of the resort and has a sign and an office. Once there everything went smooth and the gals were great and that includes the whole week. Room was great, beds and pillows were comfortable, house keeping every day, all as advertised. A couple of quick points is those damn birds at 6 pm and 6 am squawking, not sure what is up with that and for those that order room service, keep your dishes in your room and dont put outside your room as those cute little critters called "Coati" are always on the prowl at night looking to lick your plate clean and make racket doing so. Dont want to be disturbed, dont put your dishes outside. We had a main floor room with a patio that faced the fence at side of the property. There is little separation between our patio and the neighbours and not sure about rooms on the sides. The A/C worked fine and we also had the ceiling fan on, mainly to muffle any other sounds. With the Royal level internet is included, its not great for downloading shows, but gets by. Could get internet from the beach to the sports bar at the front lobby. You get a card with the password and connect on OC-Internet and if you are on your phone or tablet lots, just this part is worth the upgrade. The restaurant, “la carreta” had a fully stocked bar with name brand alcohol like Grey Goose. If you are looking for a quick meal, go to the buffet as this is a sitdown and relax restaurant. Food is good and we had no issues at any meal. We did order room service just one night for a snack and it was prompt and good. No chips and salsa tho as we thought that would be a staple on the menu, oh well. There is a "Jacuzzi" for the Royal level and for the most part was fairly quiet. The timer needs fixing as when turned on it just keeps going and going so had to shut it off manually. Always able to get a lounger there. Going to touch on a sore point and that is the lack of drink service on the beach or Royal level pool. We had service on Sunday at the beach but nothing other days when we were down there and just service at the Royal Level Pool on Friday. I think they could do alot better in that area and by far this was the poorest resort for drink service at any of the 3 resorts we have stayed at on Cozumel. Outside the Royal level: For Breakfast, you can get ala carte in the morning at the beach restaurant or buffet at the lobby restaurant. The lunch buffet at the beach was decent and the supper buffet was ok, nothing spectacular, we thought it could have been better. Top notch deserts tho and the ice cream machine always worked. There are a couple of pools, one by the beach and the adult pool which has some resident iguanas and turtles who come out to look for food. Beware as these guys arnt shy and will invite themselves to your table if they see food not being consumed. The beach is nice and chairs available any time of the day, so I guess it wasnt that busy or perhaps just lots of people doing other things, but we had no issues at 10 am or 4 pm getting a lounger. It was nice as there was no one leaving their belongings on the loungers over night. (On a side note.......for the person who helped themselves to our towels one day, I hope that was your room card you left behind, jerk.) There is a huge swimming area and the water isnt as deep as some of the other beaches we have been on. It was ok for viewing fish, wasnt a huge amount but they are there, perhaps because of the waves there wasnt that many. Out on the edges where the buoys are held down by cinder blocks there are fish and some type of lobster or whatever in the holes of the blocks. Some grassy areas have fish and some people might not like that when walking in that waist high water. The resort has a dive shop behind the Beach restaurant that a person can book dives or snorkling tours. Everyone there is really helpful and they even can set up a first time diver with lessons in the morning and a guided dive in the afternoon for someone to try. Unfortunately it was a windy week and we were able to get only one snorkeling tour in as the harbour was closed for a few days. There are some people doing the beach entertainment, volleyball and other things but we never partook. There is a good list of things they do throughout the day. A few peddlers walked by but they dont say anthing besides Ola. There was nightly entertainment but it seemed like we just couldnt stay awake to take anything in but the fire show on Friday Night. Reading back we just arnt fun people. :) Overall the experience was pretty good and commented to each other on the way out that this is a resort we would come back to and that the Royal Level is a well worth it.

    “Occidental Grand Cozumel”

    We have stayed at the Occidental Grand quite a few times. I Now understand that this resort was purchased by Barcelo Group ... there is a noticeable Improvement in the facility and most especially in the staff. The staff from top to bottom is superb! Margarita hostess at the Royal is dedicated and creates a very special stay! Jesus Escobar in charge of entertainment has created a terrific team of people and infuses fun into every event ... so appreciate his dedication! Every one of the restaurant staff was absolutely terrific, friendly and attentive! The Careta staff and cook really make the extra effort to make our visit perfect! Friendly and lovely setting with beautiful sand beach! Perfect location for diving saves lots of transit time to reefs. Thank you Occidental Grand for a perfect vacation!

    “Outstanding service in a beautiful site with spectacular lush vegetation”

    We spent a week at Occidental Cozumel in early December and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We had selected the Royal Level upgrade and I must say that it was well worth the reasonable additional cost. We usually do not upgrade, but since we do NOT enjoy eating at buffets and we enjoy “A La Carte” dining every night, we figured the Royal Level package was the best choice for us, otherwise we would have had to eat at the buffet for all meals except for 2 or 3 dinners (depending on availability). Emma, our concierge at the Royal Level, took care of all of our dinner reservations when we arrived, so that was done for the week. She was extremely efficient and accommodating. She told us Royal guests could have “A La Carte” breakfasts at the beach restaurant every morning, as well as “A La Carte” lunch at La Carreta, the restaurant exclusive to Royal guests. We took full advantage of these privileges and loved it. The resort is absolutely gorgeous! Lush vegetation everywhere, perfectly manicured. So many varieties of gigantic palms, beautiful ground coverings, flowers, fountains, and the architecture of the buildings just fits in so well. Rooms were very comfortable and always clean, plenty of towels, big marble shower and separate tub. The main pool is right by the beach so you can see the ocean all day from your lounge stairs and the ocean is just a few steps away. Always plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and the beach, you never need to wake up early to go reserve a spot. The pool bar is fantastic, they make any drink you can dream of, blender or shaken, and they come around all day to your chair to keep your thirst quenched. All the staff at Occidental Cozumel was outstanding, reception, bell boys, waiters, housekeeping, gardeners, pool attendants, bar staff, dive shop: polite, attentive, friendly, always a “can do” attitude, focused on making you happy. Also, I am pleased to report that we were not even once approached by the Time Share Vacation Club people, never an issue. Food in the “A La Carte” restaurants was really good, presentation beautiful. The only mild complaint would be that food was often lukewarm, maybe it was sitting for a while before being brought out. We went to all of the restaurants, really enjoyed the dinner by the sea at Coral but could only go once because the roof was undergoing maintenance repairs in the evening. The others (Sonora, Olivos and Carreta) were very nice, but the lights should be dimmed for a cozier ambiance. In all of the restaurants, the dishes and stemware were beautiful. We had breakfast at the Posada buffet the first day and it just confirmed that we are not the buffet type. We also had lunch at the beach buffet several times, for the sake of convenience, and although it was OK, I must say the variety was lacking, just one type of thin sliced cheese, 2 kinds of cold cuts, pizza hard, burgers overdone and dry, salads soggy with too much dressing. Desserts were nice though, but we don’t eat any. We managed to make a half decent salad, but it was underwhelming. Lunch a la carte at La Carreta was very good but service was slow. My husband is a diver and he really loved the dive shop staff and convenience. Dive boats departed directly from our pier and the program for the week was posted, 2 different reefs every half day. The reefs are magnificent, alive, unspoiled. Beautiful diving. So many guests have been coming here for years, for the beauty of the reefs and marine life, but also because they love this place and the service they get. We met many couples who actually did buy into the Time Share Vacation Club and are quite happy with their decision. If there was anything I wish would be different at this resort, I would definitely be the lobby bar. It is set up around a very nice open air plaza where the shops are and a nice big fountain, but it’s separated into different rooms or areas, and it’s all closed in between glass doors, it’s not open air. So you sit inside a glassed in bar, in the cool air conditioning, rather than being outside in the balmy air amid the beautiful vegetation and decor. I hate being indoors while on vacation in the Caribbean. I think I’m not alone because the lobby bar was not a very popular place after dinner. It would be so pleasant if you had live musicians in an open air lobby during the evening, where you can sit outside and have a drink after dinner. Instead, they have the shows or games in the Central Plaza, but there is no drink service there. Overall we really enjoyed this place and would not hesitate to strongly recommend it, and the Royal Level is definitely the way to go! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    “Royal Club Paradise”

    Been to the Royal Club with friends, as a couple and as a family, it is perfect regardless the type of vacation you’re taking. The Royal Club staff go above and beyond to make your vacation memorable and special. The food is excellent, the grounds are kept clean and greenery trimmed, top shelf liquor is available and the nightly sunsets on the beach cannot be missed. Special thanks to Tomas, Rogelio, Carlos and Rosalia who all work so hard in the Royal Club every single day. We are so excited to see our familia in December, salud!

    “Return Stay At Royal Level Occidental Grand”

    We stayed in March 2018 for two weeks with two other couples. We travel to Cozumel twice each year for two week dive trips. We have stayed at this hotel previously, but have spent the past eight years experiencing different on island accommodations. We decided to return to this hotel and are very pleased with our decision. Check in was very quick. All of the Concierges at the Royal Club are excellent- Jessica, Margarita and Emma were so very helpful and always with smiling faces. We found the room to be very clean and enjoyed the in room mini frig. There was a small issue with the tub which was fixed quickly by Maintenance. We enjoyed all of the a la carte restaurants. With only one except the service was prompt and the food was good. breakfast and lunch buffets were good. We always found lots to eat. The beach is awesome. No problems finding chairs at the pool or beach. The gym is small, but I did use the treadmills regularly. My husband and I enjoyed massages at the Spa which were wonderful. The proximity to the dive sites is terrific. No long boat rides for this group! We all enjoyed our stays so much that we have already booked two weeks in November and two weeks in March. Can't wait to return.

    Максимальная накопленная скидка может достигать 25% от стоимости бронирования в отелях Латинской Америки; в отелях Европы и Средиземноморья размер максимальной накопленной скидки составляет 20%. При этом можно комбинировать код скидки, особые скидки*** (скидки на бронирование нескольких номеров, скидки для пенсионеров, местных жителей, молодежи, больших семей и т.д.) и скидку для участников программы "my Barceló". 

    *Barceló оставляет за собой право принимать запросы на заявленные скидки. 

    **Код на скидку нельзя применить по прибытии в отель, поскольку скидка используется только во время бронирования. 

    ***При регистрации в отеле необходимо предоставить удостоверяющие личность документы, чтобы подтвердить соответствие условиям использования кодов на скидку и особых условий бронирования. Если документы не были предоставлены, или информация в них не соответствует заявленной, отель оставляет за собой право отказать в предоставлении указанной скидки от стоимости исходного бронирования.
